This may include help to keep your attendance to a high level or support with Work Experience All students will have the opportunity to undertake a work placement as part of their studies. This provides students with the opportunity to experience, first hand, vocational practice within the industry they have chosen to study. developing your study skills to maximise your potential. The table below shows you the entry requirements for each level. Secure your future, unlock English and maths! Do you want to be a scientist, engineer, nurse or teacher? Whatever your future, you will need English and maths. English and maths are everywhere, whether you are sending a text, paying for the bus or reading train timetables, you are using English and maths. We will use your qualifications on entry to place you on a suitable course, tailored to your ability and interests. So that you have the best possible chance in life and in your future career, our tutors are committed to helping you gain English and maths qualifications. When you join us you do not need to sign up to do English and maths as we have included these subjects already on your timetable. ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR SUCCESS What if I have passed my GCSE English and/or maths? If you have already achieved your GCSE English and/or maths, we will help you to develop these skills further. Our tutors will point out to you within sessions what English and maths topics you are practising. We also have online websites which we will share with you upon enrolment to help you develop your skills further. Collectively, they have identified a need for students to be equipped with both the academic knowledge and practical skills required to succeed. A minimum of 4 GCSEs graded B (including English, maths and science). As there are strictly limited places on these programmes, applicants will be invited to an interview and will also need to complete an entrance exam. Students wishing to pursue a career in medicine should be aware that typically medical schools will require at least 5 A’s or A*s at GCSE. We strongly advise that students wishing to pursue this vocation have at least AA in Science (AAB if triple award – Chemistry must be at least a B grade) and English Language and maths must be at least a B grade. An integral part of the Animal Management courses is valuable and stimulating work experience for our students at one our partner animal centres. Students will benefit from hands on experience of caring and managing a variety of animals of varying sizes and species. It is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction and at the end you should achieve a triple grade e.g. PPP, MMM, DDD or D*D*D* which attract points for university, just like A Levels. A BTEC Extended Diploma at D*D*D* is the equivalent to achieving 3 grade As at A Level. Progression Most students will go on to university after studying a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma. Others go straight into work. A BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma will give you knowledge and skills to enter your chosen industry. BTEC Level 2 Diploma/ First Extended Certificate These are one year courses made up of a number of units or subjects, related to your chosen industry. At the end you should achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction.
