President’s Message
Hello and welcome to you all for this
wonderful event of 2016.
The 139th North-Western Agricultural
Society’s, Crystal Brook Show. Our
Show Day is still attracting more people
each year, making it one of the major
Agricultural shows in the Mid North.
While still providing that strong link
within the community, thus making the
show the success it is today.
The history and lives of farming families,
is of special interest to myself as I am a
descendant of Thomas and Jane Rose,
the first free settler farmers in Australia
(1793).
Being a family outing, there is all
the normal show day attractions and
entertainment you could want. Shearing
displays, cattle judging, horses to
watch,Vintage cars with the ute muster on
the oval, birds, crafts, art, photography,
cooking, hobbies,- horticulture, vintage
farming equipment, trade displays,
market stalls demonstrations, side show
alley, rides and games, food and drink
vendors, plus live music. The Variety
Club Bash cars will be on display on the
Old Picnic Grounds, while the crews visit
the show.
Bringing show day together is impossible
without our secretary and dedicated
committee
members,
convenors,
stewards, judges, volunteers, trophy
donors, plus all our sponsors and the
Port Pirie Council. I thank you one and
all! During my time as president I have
attended the Agricultural Societies
Councils AGM and Symposiums held
at the Adelaide Show Grounds, coming
away with a greater knowledge of country
shows. Also, during this time I attended
six other country shows around South
Australia, enjoying them all. Well done to
Crystal Brook Football Club and the Rec
Centre committees for the progress on
their building extensions.
“Possums in the Brook” held another
successful Market Fair at our show
grounds in May. The Show Societies
ongoing improvements around the
grounds are starting to look great! Our
new fund raiser for the year is Engraver
Pavers to be laid in the upgrading of the
mall. Please view a sample and register
your interest at our show office. The new
easy to read Show Book contains all
the information you may need at your
fingertips. Hope to see you all at the
Show!
