HISD recognized and celebrated our Board at the January 19th Board of Trustees Meeting held at Huntsville High School. This year’s theme for the month is “Helping Our Kids Shine,” which is certainly what school boards do every day in every school district across the state. Our campuses participated in the program by having student representatives make presentations and share tokens of appreciation to honor our extraordinary members who voluntarily work tirelessly and devote countless hours to help lead students to success! We thank our Board members for their dedicated leadership to our public education system and for their service to our children. Our current Board members are President - Karin Olson Williams, Vice President - Larry Thornton, Secretary - Pamela Baggett, and trustees - Patrick Antwi, J.T. Langley, Rissie Owens, and Tracy Stoudt. HISD invites the community to join in the celebration by continuing to show support for our Board during the rest of the designated month of January and all throughout the year. Take this opportunity to acknowledge and show appreciation for their service to our children. At one end of the spectrum, Gibbs Pre-K Center students use fun and creative play to learn basic skills. On the polar opposite end, students in the HHS Career & Technology Program’s Principals of Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security class get real world experiences by putting their skills to use through hands on activities. 9th Grade Huntsville ISD Parents: Carnival of Books Beginning in spring 2012, students will start a new voyage with the launch of the next testing program called the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness or STAAR™.
