Ursuline Academy SYMPOSIUM 2013: Possibilities Presented by Lisa Susan Haller ’75 and Linda Haller Sloan ‘75 Speaker Biographies Molly Berendt, 2005 Compass Program Director, Family Service Center Molly Berendt is the founder and director of COMPASS, an after‐school and summer program for homeless and low‐income children in Springfield, IL. She graduated with an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Louis University in Political Science, French, and International Studies. Her hobbies and interests include: traveling, cycling, volunteering, soccer, walks in the park with her cocker spaniel Sadie, and anything French. Carolyn Besl, 2003 Staff Attorney, Ohio 12th District Court of Appeals Carolyn C. Besl is a 2003 graduate of Ursuline Academy where she was involved in theater, show choir, and softball. After receiving a bachelor of arts in English and Creative Writing from Centre College in 2007, and a juris doctorate from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 2010, Carolyn clerked for Judge James L. Flannery of the Warren County Common Pleas Court for just under two years. During her clerkship, Carolyn worked on several highly publicized cases including State of Ohio v. Stacy Schuler, State of Ohio v. Marcus Israel, and State of Ohio v. Ryan Widmer. In the summer of 2012, Carolyn accepted her current position as staff attorney for the Twelfth District Court of Appeals, which serves as the appellate court for eight Ohio counties including Butler, Warren, and Clermont. As part of her duties at the Twelfth District, Carolyn is responsible for writing judicial opinions for five appellate judges involving a wide variety of subjects including divorce, foreclosure, drug offenses, and murder. In her free time, Carolyn is an avid Lions supporter, volunteering as a legal coach for Ursuline's Mock Trial Team and working as assistant coach for Ursuline's 2012 GGCL Champion Varsity Softball Team. April Besl, 2000 Attorney, Dinsmore and Shohl April Besl is a member of the Intellectual Property Department at Dinsmore and practices within the Licensing and Enforcement and Entertainment Law practice groups. Her practice is focused on the litigation, prosecution, and enforcement of intellectual property including trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. She also has extensive experience assisting clients with emerging issues related to the impact of social media, the web, and technology on their business and marketing strategies. Her clients range from multi‐million dollar corporations, YouTube production companies, entrepreneurs, big box retailers, and musicians and artists. Sara Blocher Bolton, 1999 Director, Outpatient Quality Improvement Sara Bolton received her Bachelor of Arts in Zoology and Environmental Science from Miami University, and her Master of Public Health from the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine with a specific emphasis on Health Policy. Sara currently serves as Project Director for the Comprehensive Primary Care Initiative for the Greater Cincinnati region, as well as the Director of Outpatient Quality Improvement, which allows her to utilize her extensive knowledge on innovative health care delivery models and payment reform efforts. Leigh Brock, 2005 Digital Project Manager, National Geographic Society Leigh Brock is a Digital Project Manager and Certified ScrumMaster at the National Geographic Society in Washington, D.C. Working in tandem with technical and editorial teams, Leigh manages digital projects in development. She previously served as a Producer with National Geographic Digital Media and National Geographic Kids, where she created and curated editorial content, mobile apps, and various websites. Leigh earned a Bachelor's Degree of Arts in Journalism from The Ohio State University, where she worked as a staff writer and multimedia editor of The Lantern, OSU's daily student newspaper. During this time, Leigh also served as a digital intern for the Columbus Parent Magazine, and an editorial intern for National Geographic Magazine online, ngm.com. Megan Busam, 2005 Attorney Guardian Ad Litem, Hamilton County Public Defender’s Office Megan Busam is an Attorney Guardian ad Litem (GAL) with the Hamilton County Public Defender's Office. As a GAL, Megan serves as a court‐appointed advocate to protect the rights and advocate for the best interests of children who are involved in court proceedings due to allegations of abuse, neglect, and/or dependency. She performs not only legal duties such as participating in legal proceedings, and composing motions and reports for the juvenile court, but she also works in the field, conducting home visits, participating in school meetings, and working with various community agencies to ensure her clients needs are being met. Prior to working as a GAL, Megan externed with Retired Administrative and Juvenile Court Judge Karla J. Grady and volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) with ProKids. After graduating from Ursuline in 2005, Megan went to Indiana University in Bloomington and earned a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree in 2009. Megan received her Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2012 and was admitted to the Ohio bar in November of that same year. Kathleen Knecht Coffaro, 1998 Packaging Project Manager, Private Label Marketing for Kroger Corporate Brands Kathleen graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1998 and attended the University of Dayton. She graduated cum lade with a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication Design and a minor in Marketing in 2002. For the past three years, Kathleen has been utilizing her degree as a Packaging and Project Manager for Private Label Marketing in Kroger Corporate Brands. She manages projects for the new items and redesigns of Kroger labels, such as Kroger Banner Brand, Private Selection, Simple Truth, and Value Brand. Kathleen’s office is located inside the Kroger Headquarters in Cincinnati, OH and she manages projects with vendors, suppliers, printers, separators, photography studios and design agencies around the country and internationally.Kathleen resides in Hyde Park with her husband, Andy Coffaro, and they have their first baby on the way in October 2013. Her advice on careers is to choose something that will challenge you, utilizes your skills and talents, and makes you smile when you’re on your way to work in the morning. If you love what you do, there is no doubt that you will be a success. Allison Cottrell, 2005 Learning and Leadership Development Specialist, Luxxotica Retail, Lenscrafters After finishing college, Allison Cottrell pursued her dream of a career in professional theater by interning at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, and then moving to New York City to work as a freelance stage manager. While there, she worked for many different theater companies, with the majority of her time spent at the off‐Broadway company Playwrights Horizons. She also worked on the Broadway musical Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark, as well as several other world premieres. A particular highlight for Allison was gaining entrance to Actors Equity Association, the union representing theatrical actors and stage managers. Most recently, Allison returned home to the Cincinnati area and is currently working for Luxottica Retail in Mason. Colleen Devanney, 2001 Attorney, Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP Ms. Devanney received her J.D. cum laude from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, and her B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Dayton. Ms. Devanney is an associate in the Cincinnati office of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP and a member of the litigation practice. Ms. Devanney litigates in state and federal courts throughout the country. She has particular experience in Internet‐based litigation matters, including claims for defamation, cyber‐squatting, product diversion and trademark infringement. She also has experience defending corporations in complex litigation cases, particularly False Claims Act cases, RICO cases, government contract cases and class actions. Kerry Devanney, 1998 Clinical Program Developer, RN, UC Health , University of Cincinnati Medical Center Ms. Devanney graduated from University of Cincinnati in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science of Nursing (BSN). Her first job was at Riverside Hospital in Columbus Ohio on a Medical Telemetry Unit caring for patients with a variety of medical and cardiac diagnoses. After two years of experience Ms. Devanney moved to Cincinnati and started a job in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at University Hospital. During her 5 years as a staff nurse in the SICU, Ms. Devanney became a designated charge nurse as well as a preceptor for new hire nurses. She also became a leader in the unit as the chair of the Unit Based Council. In 2010, Ms. Devanney took the Clinical Program Developer position in the SICU. In this position, she was responsible for on‐going learning needs assessment of nursing staff, serving as a resource person for all members of the healthcare team, disseminating research findings to peers and colleagues and collaborating with other departments in the development and implementation of education programs. In 2011, Ms. Devanney transferred to the Department of Staff Development and Education where she continued in her role as a Clinical Program Developer and continued the responsibilities at a hospital wide level. In 2012, Ms. Devanney graduated from Xavier University with a Master of Science of Nursing. Ms. Devanney is currently responsible for all nursing student experiences at University of Cincinnati Medical Center as well as continuing education and on boarding for nurses. Laura Doerger‐Roberts, 1988 President, Vinylmax Windows Laura Doerger‐Roberts is an expert at balancing personal, professional and family priorities. A 30‐year veteran of the family business, Doerger‐Roberts took the helm of Vinylmax Windows in 2010. She works alongside her three brothers as the second generation of the nationally recognized window manufacturing company. With a passion for marketing and core values rooted in supporting American families with Made in USA products, Doerger‐Roberts has lead the company through exponential growth in trying economic conditions. In her free time, Doerger‐Roberts is an off‐hand glass blower, world traveler, culinary explorer, wife to Peter and mother to Lucie (13) and Simon (11). Pam Weeks Fellerhoff, 1986 Owner, HaloMinor Pam has a BFA in Graphic Design, Photography, and Painting and a Business Marketing minor from Miami University. Her professional expertise was acquired through fifteen years in corporate graphic design ‐ four years at Cincom, a local software company, and the remaining eleven, running IMPRINT design inc., a company she founded, serving clients nationwide. In 2005, with a growing family, Pam created a jewelry line, Lazo, and reduced the graphic design business. In 2008 she began to explore the idea of combining her backgrounds — to use graphic design, fine art, and jewelry design to build a new company. In February 2009 through a collaboration with business partner Nicole Reblando, HaloMiner was formed. HaloMiner is a lifestyle brand that designs apparel and accessories from repurposed materials. All items are created locally transforming them without extensive re‐manufacturing costs. Leah Frederick, 1988 Owner, LiliBach Studios A classically‐trained singer and professional voiceover actor, Leah Frederick (Class of '88) is the owner of LiliBach Studios, a multimedia studio that provides a variety of services including voiceovers, video production, illustrations, and vocal coaching. Her voice has been featured globally in many commercials for radio, TV, and the Internet and can be heard in hundreds of educational narrations, podcasts, auto‐attendants, apps, and even a Nintendo video game. She is a featured performer on several musical recordings, including three CDs for kids produced by SuperSimpleLearning. However, Leah is best known as an accomplished audiobook narrator. In the past five years, she has produced over forty titles in a variety of genres including romance, sci‐fi, self‐help, and young readers. Additionally, Leah serves as president of the Augusta Art Guild, provides voice acting coaching to students through the New York‐based company, Voices for All, and does the odd painting instructor gig for Cheers to Art. Beth Jackson Glass, 1992 Research and Development, Procter and Gamble Beth graduated from Ursuline in 1992 and then earned her BSE in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan in 1997. Since then she has worked at Procter and Gamble in Research and Development. She has been involved in the development of different global products including Pantene Nature Fusion and Febreze Sleep Serenity. Beth lives in Amberley Village with her husband Kevin, and her two children, Megan (12) and Jackson (9). She loves exercise and fitness, and enjoys cooking, reading, shopping, and figuring out puzzles. Kristen Cardenzana Hausfeld, 1992 IT Platform Automation Program Lead, GE Aviation Kristen Cardenzana Hausfeld is a 1992 graduate of Ursuline and a 1996 graduate of Miami University with a degree in Geology. Upon college graduation, she moved to Boston, MA to work for Environmental Futures and decided to return to Cincinnati 2 years later where her career in Information Technology began. Holding several IT positions such as Project Manager, Systems Implementation Engineer, Business Development, Technical Trainer and Business Analyst at small start ups and large companies, Kristen is now the Platform Automation Program Lead for GE Aviation. Mary Bohmer Herrington, 1986 Investment Advisor, Haire Bohmer Wealth Management Currently, Mary is an investment adviser primarily serving women, who helps clients create a financial plan that fits with their life and their intentions and put together investment portfolios to match. Mary has the good fortune of working in her family firm, HBK Wealth Management. Previously, Mary worked at Procter & Gamble for 10 years in Finance. Mary graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1990 with a BA in Economics. She met her husband, Martin, while at P&G, and they have been lucky enough to live in Singapore and Belgium and travelled extensively in Asia and Europe. They have 3 children – Claire (12), Sarah (10) and John (10). Cydny Hofmann Holt, 1976 Retired Senior Computer Scientist, Department of Defense Cydny Holt has over 30 years diverse experience as a Computer Scientist in the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community in technical, staff, and management roles. Mrs. Holt earned Bachelor of Business Administration degrees from the University of Cincinnati in Information Systems and Marketing and was awarded a Director’s Fellowship to complete her Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the Johns Hopkins University’s Whiting School of Engineering. Residing in Severn, Maryland and a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Holt is married and has an adult son and daughter. She has volunteered for the Archdiocese of Baltimore as a retreat director, served at the local and national level for Kappa Delta Sorority, and remains involved with Girl Scouts of Central Maryland. Naomi Kinney, 1981 Health and Safety Training Specialist, George Washington University After graduating magna cum laude from Central State University in 1985, Naomi moved from Ohio to Washington, D.C. Since arriving in Washington, D.C. right after college, she has earned an accomplished career in the field of education and training. She has taught English and Spanish (ESL) extensively while in DC. She has also worked ten years in the mortgage banking industry (at Fannie Mae), twelve years in healthcare (Providence Hospital and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center), and two in retail (Kroger headquarters). She is a certified healthcare interpreter, and she was responsible for creating the Interpreter Services Program at Providence Hospital, D.C., where she was the Director of Hospital Education for eight years. She is also a certified instructional/curriculum designer through the American Society for Training and Development (she is a Certified Professional of Learning and Performance, holding the CPLP credential). Naomi now teaches OSHA safety, fire safety, and emergency preparedness training to the staff, faculty, and students of the George Washington University (as a Health & Safety Training Specialist). Ashley Stratman Kohnen, 1991 COO, LEM Products Distribution Ashley currently serves as COO of LEM Products. She and her husband acquired the company in December 2006. LEM Products is a branded wholesale distributor of game processing equipment and supplies used by big game hunters and small butcher shops nationwide. The company maintains multiple channels of distribution selling direct to the consumer through catalogs and the web and through retailers such as Bass Pro Shops or Gander Mountain. She had been with Blue Chip Venture Company for six years prior to her departure in February, 2007. While at Blue Chip, Ashley served as a senior associate analyzing, structuring and negotiating capital investments in early stage growth companies. Prior to her employment with Blue Chip Ashley served as a Management Consultant for Deloitte Consulting in their software and systems group. She received her B.S. in Systems Engineering from The University of Virginia and her MBA from The University of Pennsylvania. She is currently on the board The Starfire Council of Greater Cincinnati. Ashley has three children ages 10, 8 and 6. Rohan Krehbiel, 2005 Clinical Dietitian, Carespring Health Care Management Rohan Krehbiel, MS, RD, LD, graduated from Ursuline Academy in 2005. While a Lion, she was an avid member of the swim team. After graduation, Rohan attended the University of Kentucky. She became an active member of Sigma Kappa Sorority and eventually became their Vice President of New Member Education. Rohan graduated in May 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics and a minor in Business. In the fall of 2009, she moved to Boone, NC to complete her combined Master of Science in Nutrition degree and Dietetic Internship program at Appalachian State University. Rohan then moved back to Lexington, KY and took her first job at the non‐profit organization, God’s Pantry Food Bank. There, she served as Youth Services and Nutrition Coordinator for two years before returning home to Cincinnati this past July. Rohan now works in a clinical setting, providing residents in long‐term care facilities nutritional care. Her hope for her career is to help everyone she works with create a healthy relationship with food. Kim Kroeger‐Geoppinger, 1994 Clinical Psychologist and Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, The Kelly O’Leary Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders at CCHMC Dr. Kroeger‐Geoppinger is an assistant professor in the Department of Clinical Pediatrics, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and a clinical psychologist and director of the Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention Program at The Kelly O'Leary Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. She has received various awards from the Autism Society of Greater Cincinnati (ASGC) and Families for Effective Autism Treatment (FEAT) of Greater Cincinnati, and was most recently honored as one of the most 40 influential professionals in the regional autism community. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, Association for Behavior Analysis, Autism Society of America, and the Ohio Autism Consortium for Applied Behavior Analysis. She has been symposium chair and presenter at international and national conferences on autism spectrum disorders and has provided training in graduate and undergraduate courses at Xavier University, the College of Mt. St. Joseph, and the Kelly O'Leary Center, Cincinnati. She is on the editorial board for the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders and has published articles in the Journal of Intellectual Disabilities Research, Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, and Research in Autism Spectrum Disorders, among others. She has also co‐authored textbook chapters on a variety of topics including evaluations of controversial therapies in developmental disabilities, teaching adaptive behaviors to individuals with intellectual disabilities and working with feeding disorders in persons with autism spectrum disorders. Dr. Kroeger‐
Geoppinger pursues her current research interests with young children with autism, including skill and language acquisition, models of early intervention, and social skills, as well as toilet training and feeding protocols for children on the spectrum. Joddy Geoppinger Kuhn, 1986 Homemaker, Child Advocate My name is Jocelyn Geoppinger Kuhn. I graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1986. I attended Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Ct. I graduated in 1990 with a BA in Communications. I returned to Cincinnati and went to work in sales for the Matlock Electric Company Inc. I have been working there, both full or part time for the last 23 years. I married my husband, Michael Kuhn in 1999. We have three children‐ Daniel, Michael and Megan. Our son Michael was born in May of 2002. In 2004 he was diagnosed with Autism. It was a diagnosis that has changed our lives. The journey of learning about the disorder ‐ to determining what would be the best path for Mikey has been my focus for the last 9 years. I have become not only and advocate for my son but for all children effected with this disorder. Maria Longi, 1984 Deputy Coordinator, Office of the Coordinator of US Assistance to Europe, Eurasia, and Central Asia, U.S. Department of State Maria A Longi serves as the Deputy Coordinator of U.S. Assistance to Europe, Eurasia, and Central Asia at the U.S. Department of State. This office oversees the bilateral economic, security, democracy, and humanitarian assistance of all U.S. Government agencies providing assistance to 18 states of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. By helping move the Eurasian countries in the direction of democracy and market‐based economies, these programs promote U.S. foreign policy, including long‐term stability in the region. Ms. Longi has held other positions in this office since 2002, including managing assistance to the Caucasus countries, and more broadly, on security, law enforcement, and judicial programs. From 2006‐2008, Ms. Longi worked at the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) as the Managing Director for the Threshold Programs in 10 developing countries. She was responsible for the MCC’s programs that assist countries in creating and enhancing policy environments to be conducive to sustained economic growth and poverty reduction. Ms. Longi served as a Peace Corps volunteer from 1997‐1999 as a non‐governmental organization advisor to the Polish Environmental Law Association. She helped design projects, sought funding, and helped implement environmental law programs, including those related to international conventions and sustainable development. She volunteered with the American Bar Association, Central and East European Law Initiative in Armenia from 2000‐2001. Prior to this, she practiced commercial real estate and environmental law at Strauss & Troy in Cincinnati, Ohio, and also worked as a chemical engineer. Ms. Longi graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering, and obtained her Juris Doctor from Northern Kentucky University, graduating Magna cum laude. She received a Masters of Science degree in National Security Strategy in 2012 from the National War College.
Chris Xeil Lyons, 1992 Director of Economic Development, City of Sharonville Chris Xeil began her career in local government at the Butler County Auditor’s office. As Deputy Auditor for the Real Estate Division her responsibilities included assisting taxpayers with valuations, property taxes and conveyance issues. In 2000, she began graduate school and in 2002 she received her MBA.In 2003, she accepted a position with the City of Hamilton in the Department of Economic Development. Her activities included facilitating incentive programs, site selection and preparing development agreements. In addition, she managed the City’s business retention program where she was able to assist over 200 local companies with job creation, workforce development and corporate tax issues. In May of 2012, Chris Xeil was named the Economic Development Director for the City of Sharonville. She leads the City’s retention, expansion and attraction efforts. As a lifelong resident Southwest Ohio, Chris Xeil is committed to strengthening our region economically and socially. She is active in the community and has served on numerous boards and committees. Her volunteer efforts have raised thousands of dollars for local organizations. She is married to Doug Stubenrauch, they have one son Philip. Sue Mackey, 1976 Protocol Publications Sue has been active in the Ursuline community for several years. She is a member of the development committee, co‐chairs the athletic hall of fame with Miss Diane Redmond and Coach Colleen Dehring, has been inducted into the athletic hall of fame and is the Voice of the Lions for the varsity basketball games. Sue began her career as an Assistant Director of Admissions for Franklin College. She spent four years at Franklin recruiting prospective students. Following her four years in college admissions she entered the publishing industry where she has spent the past 25 years in a sales and marketing capacity. She began her publishing career with West Publishing, the world’s largest legal publisher, and later moved into medical publishing. She has held multiple middle management and senior management positions. She was hired by WB Saunders medical publisher as the first female manager in a sales force of over 150 men in their professional sales division. After managing sales districts through multiple mergers and acquisitions, Sue assisted in the development of the pharmaceutical division of the company which provided medical education resources and marketing strategies to pharmaceutical companies throughout the clinical pre‐launch and launch phases of new drugs. In 2004, after a lengthy career in corporate, Sue joined a medical marketing/education start‐up founded by a former female colleague. In addition to her involvement at UA, Sue’s volunteer activity has included animal welfare and rescue, member of the development committee for Habitat for Humanity, clothing collection and distribution for the Free Store, political election campaigns and coaching youth sports.
Amina Malik, 2002 Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellow, Cincinnati Eye Institute Amina Malik is an Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellow at the Cincinnati Eye Institute. She received her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, where she also completed her ophthalmology residency and served as chief resident. In addition to her clinical training, Dr. Malik has been very active in research, authoring 11 peer reviewed articles and book chapters. She has also given academic presentations on a national and international level. During her residency she traveled on multiple mission trips, providing surgical eye care in Honduras and El Salvador. She also is mother to a 13 month old girl. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and running. Margaret Richards Mauze, 1996 President, Pediatric Psychology & Family Wellness Dr. Margaret Mauzé is a board certified pediatric psychologist with her own practice in Houston. Prior to moving to Houston, she practiced at the Cleveland Clinic for seven years where she provided inpatient consultation‐liaison services and outpatient psychological services to children, adolescents, and families dealing with significant physical illness or disease. She also served as the director of the Cleveland Clinic's postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology. She moved to Houston in 2012 and opened her own practice where she continues to serve the needs of children, adolescents, and families coping with physical and emotional challenges. Suzanne Partridge Meiners, 1994 Oncology Hematology Care Specialist Suzanne is an Adult Hemotologist and Medical Oncologist with Oncology Hematology Care who specializes in Cancer and Blood Disorders. She attended undergraduate school at Xavier University majoring in Natural Sciences. She went on to medical school at Wright State University for the first two years and finished up at Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, after marrying her husband and moving to Toledo. Suzanne did her residency at University Hospital in Cincinnati. Suzanne loves traveling, hiking and played volleyball for UA. Her Ursuline claim to fame was being a member (and captain) of the 1993 state champion team. Melissa Wilson Morrissey, 1992 Pharmicist, Humana Rightsource Pharmacy Anyone who thinks pharmacy is a profession for old men needs to think again! Long gone are the days of the guy in the white coat counting pills behind the pharmacy counter. Women are attending pharmacy school in record numbers and for good reason. I graduated from UA in 1992 and from Univ of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy in 1998. Since then I have enjoyed working in seveal areas of pharmacy including retail, long term care and mail order. All of my experiences have been opportunities to expand on the knowledge I gained in college. More importantly, with each new opportunity I have been able to achieve a better work‐life balance. Having a family and a great career IS possible and women have discovered this to be true of a career in pharmacy. I look forward to sharing all the possibilities for women in pharmacy. Amy Pennekamp, 1999 Atorney, William E. Hesch Law Firm, LLC Amy E. Pennekamp is an attorney at the William E. Hesch Law Firm, LLC. Amy received her J.D. from Salmon P. Chase College of Law, Northern Kentucky University in 2006, and her B.S.B.A. in Finance from Xavier University in 2003 (cum laude, University Scholar). Amy is licensed to practice law in Ohio and Kentucky, the United States District Court, Southern District of Ohio, and most recently, the United States Supreme Court. Currently, she practices in the areas of estate planning, succession planning for family owned businesses, elder law/Medicaid planning, trust administration, probate administration, and business planning and formation. She also assists and represents buyers and sellers who are buying or selling small businesses. Amy is a member of the Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Ohio State, and Kentucky Bar Associations. She currently serves as Vice‐Chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the Cincinnati Bar Association, and Co‐Chair of the Business & Tax Section of the Northern Kentucky Bar Association. She serves on the MariElders Senior Center Board of Directors and the Ursuline Academy Alumni Advisory Council. She provides pro bono legal services to the community through the Volunteer Lawyers Project. In 2012, Amy was named a YWCA Rising Star, which is given to women under the age of thirty‐five who exhibit outstanding leadership in the local community. Beth Budde Pitner, 1982 Vice President of Human Resources, Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati Beth Pitner is Vice President, Human Resources for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati. She is responsible for leading the Bank's human resources department including benefit programs (compensation, retirement plans, health insurance), recruiting, training, succession planning, employee relations and corporate activities. With more than 20 years of experience as a Human Resources professional, primarily within the financial services industry (Fidelity Investments, KPMG), Mrs. Pitner has successfully served in various leadership positions throughout her career. Mrs. Pitner holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in Finance from Miami University and is a 1982 graduate of Ursuline Academy. Melissa Register, 1996 Vice President and Senior Wealth Manager, Fifth Third Bank Melissa Register is a Vice President and Senior Wealth Planner for Fifth Third Bank. Ms. Register works with clients to develop strategies for all aspects of their financial lives, including tax planning, retirement planning, family wealth planning and business succession planning. Prior to joining Fifth Third, Ms. Register was an attorney in private practice, during which time she specialized in estate and trust planning, administration and litigation, as well as tax planning, premarital agreements, charitable organizations and corporate law. Ms. Register received her B.A. from Clemson University in 2000 and her J.D. from the University of Florida in 2005. While in law school, Ms. Register received the University of Florida College of Law’s Certificate in Estates and Trusts Practice. She also served as Articles Editor of the Journal of Law and Public Policy. Ms. Register is a member of the Florida Bar and the Hillsborough Association for Women Lawyers. Ms. Register was also elected to the Board of Directors of the Tampa Bay Estate Planning Council (TBEPC). Ms. Register is a recipient of the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s 2008 Up & Comers Award. She has been named a Rising Star by Florida Super Lawyers from 2010 – 2012 and a Legal Elite Up and Comer by Florida Trend in 2012. Nancy Welling Reilly, 1984 President, Ipsos Marketing Research Nancy has over 25 years of marketing research experience and her career has been focused on building brands through consumer knowledge. Nancy has been with Ipsos, a consumer/market research firm, for seven years and is the Ipsos leader for a large consumer goods client leading development and deployment of research solutions. Prior to this position and before joining Ipsos, Nancy was a Research Manager at Kao Brands, working on the Jergens and Curel brands. She was also the Director of Market Research for Hasbro Toys leading research for the Boy Toys division. Maggie Reilly, 2006 Student, Duquesne School of Law Maggie Reilly graduated from Ursuline in 2006. While at Ursuline she played basketball for two years and soccer for all four years. Maggie has four younger sisters who have also attended Ursuline ‐ two are currently there! After graduation she moved on to Miami University where she majored in Finance. Initially, she thought she would work in the business world, but as she began to interview for positions, it became clear that Finance was not her passion. After graduation, she obtained a paralegal position at the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office in Cincinnati where she worked as a civil paralegal. After working as a paralegal for over a year, Maggie moved to Pittsburgh to attend law school at Duquesne University. During the summer after her first year of law school she worked in the United States House of Representatives and this past summer worked in the Tax Division at the Department of Justice. Megan Chesko Reisert, 2002 Home Health, American Mercy Homecare Megan graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor of Health Science and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy. She worked with Group Health Associates from 2008 until 2012, when she joined American Mercy Homecare. She currently lives in Loveland with her husband, Jeff, their two‐year‐old daughter, Brooklyn, and baby number two on the way. She began my career out of college working full‐time in an outpatient physical therapy setting and after the birth of her daughter, switched paths to home health physical therapy 3 days a week. Susan Rodgers, 1972 Managing Partner, Acutek Automation Ms. Rodgers graduated from Ursuline in 1972. After graduating from Edgecliff College, she returned to Ursuline to teach Biology, AP Biology and Anatomy and Physiology for 6 years. Subsequently, over a period of 18 years, her career included eleven years as an analytical chemist with Procter and Gamble and a position as director of marketing for a Cincinnati law firm. She has been with Acutek Automation since its foundation in 1996. As Co‐Managing Partner at Acutek, Ms. Rodgers manages the financial, sales and marketing divisions of the company. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Edgecliff and a Masters degree from Xavier University. Marianne Utz Sahms, 1978 General Manager, O’Bannon Creek Golf Club Coach Marianne Sahms started coaching at Ursuline in 1995. She has posted a record of 325‐
52. During her coaching years at Ursuline, she has been recognized several times by the coaches associations and local organizations. She is also an alumna of Ursuline where she played volleyball and basketball and is a member of Ursuline's Hall of Fame. Prior to coaching, Coach Sahms played 3 years of golf and 1 year of basketball at Michigan State University. Currently Coach Sahms is entering her 23rd year as the General Manager and Director of Golf at O'Bannon Creek Golf Club. Coach Sahms is a Class A member of the PGA, becoming the 101st woman member in 1987. Susan Bellman Schreiber, 1977 Owner and Director, Country Hill Montessori In 1981 Susan was hired as a teacher for Country Hills Montessori by its owner, and Ursuline graduate, Jean Johannigman ‘47. In 1985, Jean expanded operations and opened a second location where Susan accepted the position of Director/Lead Teacher. In 1998, Susan purchased the Eastgate location from Jean upon her retirement. Since that time, Country Hills Montessori and Carespring Healthcare has partnered together to offer intergenerational activities, and create a community in which all ages interact with respect and value. Other locations have opened across the city. Jill Hoying Searcy, 2005 Physical Therapist, Indiana University Health After graduating from Ursuline, Jill was accepted into the "Direct Entry" Program in Physical Therapy at Saint Louis University. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Spanish in 2009 after spending a semester in Madrid, Spain. Jill completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2011. She worked for Barnes‐Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri from June, 2011 until June, 2013. She worked mostly on the Orthopedic Surgery unit and with premature and drug‐exposed infants in the Special Care Nursery. In July, 2013, she began working for Indiana University Health as a PT at University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Siobhan Taylor, 2000 College Readiness and Mediation Director, James N. Gamble Montessori School Siobhan Taylor is a 2000 graduate of Ursuline where she was heavily involved in Student Council Board, Mission Club, and Sisters Acting Strategically. She graduated, magna cum laude from Miami University (OH) earning degrees in Political Science and Cultural Anthropology. After college, Siobhan completed a year of national, public service working as a Community Arts Coordinator for the organization responsible for building the new School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA). She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan with a Masters degree in Social Work and Social Policy, and spent time working as a Policy Analyst for a children’s rights organization in Lansing, MI. Following her love of policy and law, Siobhan later attended the University of Cincinnati College of Law to pursue a legal career with a local law firm. Eventually realizing that she didn’t want to practice law, she utilized her graduate degree and is now the College Readiness and Mediation Director at a local Cincinnati high school. Siobhan currently likes to spend her free time working on mindfulness techniques, reading, and taking contemporary/modern dance classes with local dance companies. Wendy Wolff Travis, 1986 Senior Neuro Specialist, Codman Johnson and Johnson Wendy graduated from Ursuline in 1986 and The Ohio State University in 2000 with a BS in Psychology and a minor in Business Marketing through the Capstone program. She began her sales career directly after college with Kraft Foods and in 2002 moved into medical sales with Calgon Vestal, Merck. She is currently a Senior Sales Specialist with the Neurosurgery division of Johnson and Johnson, Codman. She will be celebrating my 10th year of service with Codman in April 2014. Lauren Ward, 2004 Platform Service Architect, GE Aviation Lauren is originally from Cincinnati, and graduated Ursuline Academy in 2004. She majored in Systems Analysis with a minor in Management at Miami University, graduating in 2008. During college, she completed two internships at GE Aviation, and joined the Information Management Leadership Program (IMLP) at GE after graduating. During IMLP, she travelled around the US and to Shanghai, China for training, and completed four 6‐month rotations in different positions within the company. After the two‐year program, she became the Cloud Architect for the infrastructure group supporting the GE Aviation and Energy businesses. Just recently, she moved to a new role leading Big Data technology for the GE Aviation business. In 2011, Lauren began her Masters in Computer Information Technology at Northern Kentucky University, with an expected graduation date of May 2014. Bethany Wiegand, 1998 Business Analyst Manager, Sogeti USA Bethany Wiegand is an IT consultant with Sogeti USA. She specializes in digital technologies that transform the way retailers do business with their customers. More and more customers are requiring companies to deliver personalized services and interact when and how they choose via digital channels such as the internet/ecommerce, mobile devices, social media, in‐store technologies and email. Bethany's marketing background laid the foundation to understand the needs and behaviors of customers to develop strategies and thought leadership to grow solutions, business lines and team capabilities that embrace industry trends, business differentiators and innovative responses to customer needs. Through effective facilitation skills, she drives initiatives to organizational alignment to make progress against committed projects, business objectives and/or strategic opportunities. In each environment Bethany has worked, she encourages collaboration amongst team members and uses multiple forms of media to disseminate information. Recent initiatives include full migrations of eCommerce sites, personalization strategies, development of mobile apps, website redesigns, associate process improvements, and an order tracking. Prior to her consulting career, Bethany spent a number of years in Sports Administration and Marketing. Her career in sports provided opportunities to work in minor league baseball, NASCAR, Ohio University's Golf and Tennis Center, the University of Florida Athletic Association and the Alabama Sports Festival. She graduated from Ohio University's Sports Administration program with her Master's in Sports Administration (MSA) and Master's in Business Administration (MBA). Prior to Ohio University, Bethany attended the University of Kentucky where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Management while on athletic scholarship for softball. She earned SEC Academic Honors and was named to the Dean's list multiple times. She is a 1998 graduate of Ursuline Academy and currently resides in Cincinnati. Sarah Williford, 2006 Registered Nurse, UC Health West Chester Hospital I am a proud graduate of the 2006 Ursuline class. I attended The Ohio State University and was accepted into the College of Nursing. At this time, I was working as a medical assistant. After graduation from Ohio State '10, I started my career as a Registered Nurse in the outpatient Colorectal Surgery office at The Christ Hospital. It was a great way to ease into the world of medicine! Continuing my nursing career, I accepted a job on the cardiac/telemetry floor at West Chester Hospital, UC Health. I am currently switching roles as a cardiac, stepdown and med/surg nurse at West Chester Hospital. I will start training soon to become a preceptor in my expertise as a cardiac/telemetry nurse. The field of nursing holds many opportunities; I plan to explore different areas in the future! Jamie Woods, 2002 Designer Women’s Knits, Lands End I graduated from Ursuline in 2002 and attended Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ for Premed. After a year, I transferred to the University of Cincinnati, to attend DAAP, and changed my major to Fashion Design. While at DAAP, I did internships at companies such as Coach, Cincinnati Magazine and Ralph Lauren. I graduated from DAAP in 2008 with a B.S. in Fashion Design, and a minor in Journalism. I was hired by Abercrombie and Fitch, as an Assistant Designer for Fleece and Graphic Tees, after graduation and moved to Columbus, OH. I was promoted to Associate Designer after a year and a half, and was moved to Women's Sweaters. I worked at A&F until 2010, when I accepted a position with American Eagle Outfitters in New York, as Associate Designer for Women's Sweaters. I was promoted to Designer in 2012. In the Summer of of 2012, I left American Eagle after accepting a position with Macy's, as Senior Designer of Women's Sweaters for the Alfani line. In July of this year, I decided I wanted to leave New York, and I accepted a Designer position with Land's End for Women's Knits in Madison, WI. I moved to Madison in August of 2013. Throughout my work experience I have traveled all over the world, to places such as Hong Kong, Taipei, and Tokyo.
