He has played a few Shakespearian roles: Antiphallus, Malvolio, Prince Hal, Oberon, King Richard 2, Mr. Ford, Petruchio, Brutus, Hamlet, and Macbeth. He has also played in a few Samuel Beckett tragicomedies: Vladimir in Waiting For Godot and Clov in Endgame. Sometimes, he likes to squat down, bend at the knees, and lean forward. 'Cause that's how he rolls.... Hank Barre (Producer/King Lear) After 60 years on stage, Hank will have finally undertaken just about every role he ever wanted (if he survives this one). Thanks to Joe for his energy, insight and knowledge and to this fine cast and production team for their efforts on this one. Thanks to Jaye for her constant support and tolerance having Lear, Falstaff, Polonius, Big Daddy, and a host of other noisy characters wandering around the house muttering and howling through the years. Alex Petersen (Stage Manager) is excited to be working on yet another Plays in the Park production. She currently is studying at Syracuse University and in two years will be receiving her B.F.A. in Theatre Design and Technology. Many thanks to the cast and crew for all their hard work. 9 WHO’S WHO – CAST Ken Bigelow (Edmund) returns to Troupe of Friends/Trilogy after a three year break, taking on the role of Edmund in this production of King Lear. He was an original member of the Troupe of Friends’ Company, performing in their first six productions. With the Troupe, he has played Falstaff in Henry IV, Part 1, Sir Toby Belch in Twelfth Night, and Mark Antony in Julius Caesar. Ken also played Estragon in Samuel Beckett’s classic Waiting for Godot, and Hamm in Beckett’s End Game. He recently performed the role of Dr. Neville Craven in the Hedgehog and Feather production of The Secret Garden. Besides theater, he enjoys playing bass and singing with a local pop music band, FOG (Four Old Guys). Maxwell Beutnagel (Curan/Knight) is excited to be in this excellent production of King Lear. Thanks to everyone who made this possible. Michael Bieber (Albany) cannot wait for everyone to see all the hard work that has put into this production. Break a leg! Juliet Brines (Goneril) is thrilled to be apart of such a wonderful cast. She was last seen as Katherina in Troupe of Friends Taming of the Shrew. Other favorite credits include By Jeeves (Honoria) Much Ado About Nothing (Margaret), and Romeo and Juliet (Nurse). She recently participated in the Manhattan Rep One Act Competition in NYC. Her next role will be "Bride" in her upcoming wedding to her fiancé Patrick. Love and broken legs to the cast and crew! Peter Curly (Peter/Oswald) is delighted to be back on stage with Trilogy and Troupe of Friends. He has appeared in numerous productions with both theater companies. Prior credits with them include Taming of the Shrew, Inherit the Wind, Midsummer Night's Dream, Richard the Second, Macbeth, You Can't Take it With You, Julius Caesar, As You Like It, Henry the Fourth-Part Two, and Twelfth Night. Recent productions with other theater groups include Doubt, Cards on the Table, and Crucible. Thanks to Joe and a great production team. Break a Leg everyone! Fred Dennehy (Cornwall) has performed over a dozen roles in Shakespearean plays in the last five years, in New York and New Jersey, including five for Troupe of Friends. They include King Henry in Henry IV, Part One, Julius Caesar in Julius Caesar, Justice Shallow in Merry Wives, York in Richard II and Baptista and Player in Taming of the Shrew. Many thanks to Joe, Alex and the cast 10 WHO’S WHO – CAST Tim Evans (Gloucester) played the Fourth Night in Murder in the Cathedral around 1952. He subsequently played Oberon in Midsummer Night's Dream at P..A..R..K..S.. Corp.'s miniature park at 333 Ellison Street, Paterson in 2011. In 2012, he played Prospero in The Tempest at our said park in Paterson. Tim is currently in rehearsal for Twelfth Night in the afore-mentioned park, which is scheduled for performance somewhere between mid-September and mid-October, depending on weather, and also at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Paterson. He is cast as the Sea Captain. Last year, Tim did an excerpt from Richard III in Upper Montclair, playing Clarence in the Tower of London scene. Alan Gershenson (Burgundy/Knight) is excited to be working on another production with Trilogy. Thanks to everyone for their hard work! Lee Grabelsky (Kent) Prior shows include: Taming of The Shrew, Julius Cesar, Richard 2. Off Broadway credits include: The Fourth Chair. Lee studied in NYC with Michael Eagan. Speaking of Thanks to the Dynamic Duo of Joe & Hank Alicia Harabin (Fool) last tackled The Bard in As You Like It (Rosalind) at Circle Players. Other recent shows include The 39 Steps, The Farnsworth Invention, and Sherlock Holmes at Circle and All My Sons at Summit. Alicia teaches elementary school drama at the Pingry School and has enjoyed her summer off, chasing Lear around the park and her nearly-1-yearold everywhere else. Love to Matt and Felix. Prior roles (all with Trilogy Repertory and Troupe of Friends) include Angus and Murderer #2 in The Scottish Play, Meeker in Inherit the Wind, Robin Starveling/Moonshine in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and various parts in Spamalot and The Taming of the Shrew. In addition, Matt currently serves on the Trilogy board of directors. During the school year, Matt teaches English literature and coaches varsity tennis at the Mount. In his spare time, Matt enjoys playing tennis and running. He considers himself lucky to work with such an excellent cast and crew and looks forward to truly great performances of this classic – and timeless – tragedy. Sean Marner (Knight/Messenger/Herald) began exercising his acting skills at age 7, participating in the Contagious Drama Workshops in Westfield, NJ. He then became involved with the Troupe of Friends and his first Shakespearean role was in 2011 as a gardener and servant in King Richard II. He appeared as a shepherd in two seasons of Hedgehog and Feather’s Amahl and The Night Visitors. In August 2012, Sean appeared in TOF’s Taming of the Shrew as a servant. Sean kicked off 2013 as one of the townspeople in the Alliance Repertory Theater’s rendition of Puss-n-Boots. This July, Sean attended the On Stage Theater Program and starred as Gaston and the Prince in two performances of Beauty and the Beast! Returning to Shakespeare, Sean is now a messenger and a servant in this year’s King Lear. In his spare time, Sean constructs LEGO masterpieces and aces the backstroke for Westfield’s Nomahegan Swim Team. Erin Scialabba (Cordelia) is excited to make her Shakespeare debut playing Cordelia in King Lear. Since studying the Bard in London, Erin has been in awe of Shakespeare's rich and transcendent poetry, and is thus honored to work so closely with a play of such historical and cultural significance.
