Unlike their parents, they expect to keep their teeth in health and function for their entire life. Being able to design complete treatment plans that will address occlusal, aesthetic and biologic needs and desires along with correct material selection will be essential to the successful contemporary dental practice. • A step-by-step programmed approach to optimum treatment planning. • What essential data you will need to gather to comprehensively diagnosis and plan a complex wear case. • How and when to safely open the vertical dimension of occlusion. Adhesive Dentistry 2016 Patients who present with tooth wear and aberrant anterior occlusal relationships, such as end-to-end occlusions, or deep overbites, can be confusing to treatment plan, the clinician often assuming that the vertical dimension must be altered. This presentation will aid in the understanding of how to diagnose and treat anterior dental relationships to achieve an esthetic and functionally acceptable outcome. The focus will be on the interaction of overjet, overbite, and vertical dimension, in creating the presenting problem, as well as solving it. • The role overjet plays in the esthetic and functional relationships of anterior teeth • What needs to be evaluated in identifying the etiology of aberrant anterior relationships • What options exist for creating or reducing overjet to allow correction of anterior tooth position. This course is a must for those seeking to place the finest restorations possible with the fewest difficulties. Among the topics covered are the principles of adhesion, including an overview of all available resin bonding systems, specific recommendations, the best and easiest method for creating a properly wet etched dentin surface and precise instructions. • Be able to evaluate and treat different types of tooth pain • Be able to generate outstanding posterior contacts in resin composites • Know why and how to seal crown preps. Arguably the most influential dentist in the world, Dr Frank Spear is the founder and director of Spear Education. Frank continues to be recognised as one of the premier educators in aesthetic and restorative dentistry in the world today. Frank is an affiliate professor in the graduate prosthodontics programme at the University of Washington. Together with long time practice partner Dr Greggory Kinzer Frank also maintains a private practice in Seattle specialising in aesthetics and fixed prosthodontics. Dr John Kanca III is a leader in the field of adhesive dentistry. John was the first to regularly seal dentine under crown preparations and created the fourth generation of bonding systems, going on to create or co-create bonding systems such as All Bond, All Bond 2, One Step, Simplicity, Surpass and Superb. John is a founder of American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr Ian Buckle qualified from Liverpool University in 1985, achieving a masters in Aesthetic Dentistry with Aesthetic Advantage based in New York University. Ian is a world renowned expert in the field of Aesthetic Dentistry and is an instructor at Aesthetic Advantage in New York, Virginia and Palm Beach, Florida. Dr Kevin Lewis Dr Pierre Machtou Dental Director for the Dental Protection Society Pioneer in endodontic instrumentation D e n t i s t r y 16 S e s s i o n D e n t i s t r y 16 S e s s i o n England f RAN C E Dento-legal challenges – yesterday, today and tomorrow Art of of accessing, location and negotiating root canal systems. Role of stainless steel instruments - are they still valid? Nobody in UK dentistry can be unaware of the relentless upward spiral of litigation, complaints, increasing regulation, scrutiny and accountability – especially in relation to the GDC. But out of the depths of despair some green shoots of a return to some form of sanity and proportionality are starting to appear. Using international comparisons to provide some context, this presentation will explain where we have been (and why), where we are today and how the future might look. • Understand what has made the UK such a challenging environment in which to practise dentistry • Dispel some widely-held misconceptions about the link between professional standards and quality of care, and the levels of complaints and litigation • Explain the current trends and future prospects and highlight the practical things that participants can do to keep themselves safe. Ideal access cavity is a pre-requisite before attempting to negotiate the root canal system. The goal is to prepare a straight-line access to canal orifice but in some situations, canal location is not immediately obvious. In the era of NiTi mechanized instrumentation, stainless steel manual instruments are essential tools and must not be discarded. They allow us to reliably negotiate narrow and constricted canals, help address sharp apical curvatures and overcome canal obstacles and mishaps during retreatment. • Locate pulp horn landmarks on the occlusal surface • Master the different motions needed to negociate difficult and constricted root canals • Select the right strategy to manage sharp apical curvatures. During twenty years in full-time general practice, Dr Kevin Lewis developed special interests in preventive dentistry and practice management. Kevin is the consultant editor and a regular columnist for Dentistry magazine. Kevin has lectured extensively all over the world and has been involved with Dental Protection Society since 1989 and was appointed dental director in 1998. How common is it? Are prosthesis design and keratinised attached gingiva related to it? The aim of this conference is to provide delegates with the opportunity to learn how to blend these two ideals in every clinical situation, from the easiest to the most difficult one. How to gain a predictable and repeatable result is the key word of the entire course. • Understand the right way of colour determination. • Learn a standardised technique of composite stratification. • Choose the best material between composite and ceramic according to the clinical situation. This lecture will cover the truth about implant susceptibility to periimplantitis and review the incidence of it. It will also explore some, often overlooked aspects, which may be related to peri-implantitis including prosthesis design and the quantity of keratinized attached gingiva. The lecture will also cover the recommended protocol to maintain peri-implant health and the non- surgical treatment of peri–implantitis. • To gain a better understanding and appreciation for the reality of periimplant health and what factors may influence our ability to maintain implants long-term. • To explore if there is any relationship between keratinized gingiva and the amount of bone loss around an implant. • To explore if there is any relationship between prosthesis design and bone loss around an implant. To understand how peri-implant maintenance is affected by prosthesis design. Porcelain veneers have been available to us for more than 25 years. Initially proposed as a no-preparation treatment, we have seen the ‘ideal’ design change widely over the years. This presentation will examine the thought process behind the evolution of the different preparations and also consider which one is most appropriate in different circumstances. • Review the pros and cons of different veneer preparations and their suitability for different clinical situations • Discuss material selection for different situations • Discuss how an alteration to the path of insertion can help address challenging situations such as diastema closures or post-periodontal treatmentprestigious awards in worldwide dentistry.
