Terms and Conditions (continued)
Welcome!
We are excited to celebrate our 32nd sale with some exciting new changes. We will be
having the sale in Cheyenne, Wyoming on the street in front of the Wyoming State Capitol
Building during Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo. We are giving away great prizes. A
trophy saddle will be awarded to the top buyer of the day. Also, we will be awarding a
trophy saddle to a person who judges (don’t need to be a pro) the performance held the
morning of the sale and scores closest to the main judge. This is open to the public--if
you are 8 years old and older you can be a participant. More details and rules will be
announced sale day for prizes given.
We look for conformation, disposition, color, a great pedigree and athletic ability. Most of
the geldings are ridden on average 15 miles per week through thick brush, up and down
big hills and steep canyons. We train them approx. 3 hours per week in the arena which
includes roping and dragging the hot heels, reining training, tracking, cutting and roping
cattle. Also, a few of the geldings spend approx. 2 hours per week in team roping
training. This wide range of training develops sane and healthy minds. They are trained to
be soft in the face, take their correct leads, stop on “whoa” command, to move away from
neck rein and leg pressure. All of these training methods promotes a low head set and a
relaxed ride. After training it’s a race to the wash rack for their bath which excites them.
Don’t let performance scare you if you are looking for a trail riding horse. Watch the
videos and they will show you how well broke the geldings ride with a one hand, loose
neck rein.
We see Chimney Rock out our front door every day. It was the most noted landmark in all
the pioneer's diaries on the Oregon, Mormon, and California Trails. It signaled the end of
the prairies as the trail became more steep and rugged heading west towards the Rocky
Mountains. The sacred pillar was used for target practice by army gunners during the
Indian Wars. Pioneers used to climb Chimney Rock to carve their names in the soft Brule
Clay. Travelers reported it was visible up to 40 miles away. The modern measurement is
325 feet from tip to base-some say it use to be 3 times that high.
Our ranch name-COYOTE SLIDE RANCH-came from a section of Castle Rock which is
called Coyote Slide. We love to live up here in the hills. We have seen coyotes, elk, big
horn sheep, bobcats and of course rattlesnakes. It is great for the horses, too. They get a
lot of riding experience in the open pastures, steep hills and rough canyons.
Please check out our website at www.twomblyarena.com (you will see more pictures).
We will post VIDEOS online of the foals and several geldings. This is an excellent tool for
those of you who cannot attend and for the ones who want a sneak peak of what’s
coming.
Thank you for your interest and we hope to meet you at the sale,
Dan, Ann, John and Tia Twombly

This is a very thick stud colt out of our
thickest made dun mare. He is cute made
with a little bitty head and a big round hip.
This colt should do whatever you need to do
such as roping, ranching, showing or trail
riding. We have found the Zan It offspring to
be very easy to work with and to train. His
mother is a 1,200 lb. gorgeous dark dun. We
have ridden a few of his full brothers and
they were exceptional. This colt will not be
at the sale but will be ready for shipment
mid September. See his full brothers at Lot

You don’t see horses like this one up for sale very often.
“Gunnie” is a drop dead gorgeous dun mare with a bald
face and blue eyes just like her daddy, the great Dun It
Gotta Gun! He possesses one of the best pedigrees in
the reining industry. Gunnie is out of an own daughter of
the great Freckles Fancy Twist. She stands 14.3 hands.
She is broke like none other, no surprise she is a level 1
novice reserve world champion and has also won $3,800.
She spins like a top and slides to a stop. You don’t have
to be a pro to ride her, she is gentle for most everyone.
She is a lot of fun to ride on the ranch, she will lope out
across the pasture right along with the geldings like she
is one of them, she also gets turned out with the
geldings to play and she gets along great with them.
Gunnie will serve you several purposes, you can show
her, use her on the ranch or have the nicest horse on the
trail. When you are done riding her you can then raise
exceptional foals. Here is a rare opportunity to purchase
a one of a kind mare. AQHA Incentive Fund.

“Locks” might be small but you can see
him from a mile away with that beautiful
dark golden palomino color. He also has
a white mane and a gray tail. At 14.1
hands he is pretty easy to hop on and off
of. Not only is his color super unique he
has a great conformation to boot. Locks
is a very level headed horse to ride with
a nice smooth lope and trot. When riding
on the trails he pays attention to where
he is going and never gets in a hurry. He
is rope broke and knows what a cow is.
We use him to rope the hot heels and
also pull it. He is cow bred top and
bottom. If you are looking for a really
fancy gelding to use on the ranch or one
of the flashiest gelding on the trails look
no further! Gentle for most riders

horses in the sale-nothing riles him. He
is a grandson of the great, “Playgun”,
which should give you all the cow you

hands and is as thick as any horse in
the sale. We have used him to tag
calves in the cornstalks this spring and
he ropes and drags the hot heels. We
will be roping both ends on him sale
day. He should make a great heel
horse. He has a nice handle, neck
reins, has a good stop and a pleasure
to ride in the country. Go any place

“Oak” is a big, pretty dark colored
buckskin gelding. He is extremely
friendly and likes people. He stands
15.3 hands and is well made. Chase
has been using him for all aspects of
ranch work. Drug calves to the fire,
loaded cows and tagged and sorted
calves. He is great to handle, load,
trim and clip. Oak is fun to rope the
hot heels on and has also started
roping steers in the arena. He has a
natural low head set, nice smooth
trot and pretty lope. He is big enough
to get the job done and is not afraid
to go to one!
