Parkview Residential Energy Modelling Parkview Residential Energy Modelling Prepared by Arborus Consulting for Bramel Developments, July 17, 2013 Overview Arborus has created a Hot2000 energy model of Unit 6 in the Parkview Residential development in order to determine its performance relative to the Ontario Building Code. A Proposed Design model was created based on information provided in the architectural drawings dated May 17, 2013, along with associated specifications for the Ecologix cold climate heat pump, the Navien tankless hot water heater, and the Fantech energy recovery ventilator. In order to determine the Building Code performance, an OBC Reference Case model was also created. The OBC Reference model has the same footprint, and the envelope has the same size, shape and orientation as the Proposed Design. The performance of the envelope and HVAC systems in the OBC Reference is set according to the requirements of Compliance Package B in Table 2.1.1.2.A of the Ontario Building Code Supplementary Standard SB-12. Results The Proposed Design is projected to use 51.0% less energy on an annual base than an equivalent house built to Ontario Building Code standards. The Proposed Design uses less energy than the OBC Reference for space heating and for hot water heating due to an improved thermal envelope and very high efficiency space and hot water heating equipment.
