INTRODUCTION
Thank you for your interest in SILVER STAG Knives and American Manufacturing. Over the last 18 years, we have never strayed from
what made us successful when we first started manufacturing stag knives in a small garage. Even today, SILVER STAG blades and
finished knives are primarily manufactured by hand in our Blaine, WA. shop. We use the highest quality domestic tool steels and natural
raw materials to manufacture our extremely functional and durable line of fixed and folding cutlery designs. We take great pride in
our work and every year we get more efficient at manufacturing a higher quality product, while broadening our design selection and
building additional features into the SILVER STAG product line.
PRODUCT LINE SUMMARY
The SILVER STAG product line consists of over 80 different cutlery designs that range from 1” to over 21” in blade length. The majority
of the line Retails in the $70 to $140 range. The SILVER STAG line is categorized into one of twelve “Product Series”, and each product
series is defined by the design and materials used in the manufacturing process. These series are; CROWN, ELK STICK, SLAB, TOOL STEEL,
DAMASCUS, FOLDING, POINT, SCRIMSHAW, CHUCK WAGON, FRAME , SWORD, and ENHANCED.

DISTRIBUTION
SILVER STAG Knives are distributed through high quality sporting good, cutlery, and specialty stores. You will not find SILVER STAG
products sold in big box or mass merchant discount chains. We expect all of our dealers to sell at our MSR pricing and adhere to our
MAP pricing policy. New SILVER STAG dealers must meet certain criteria to become
an authorized dealer. Please call us if your company is interested in becoming an
authorized dealer. We would appreciate the opportunity to assist you with your opening
order. We have many years of experience working with our retail partners and we
know why our key dealers are extremely successful with the line. Our most successful
dealers are able to share our manufacturing techniques and product features with
their customers. In addition, they carry a good selection, sell at our MSR pricing, use

PACKAGING / MERCHANDISING
Every knife ships in its own individual box, accompanied with a high quality leather
sheath and warranty card. UPC stickers are available upon request. New dealers have
the opportunity to purchase one of our locking counter display fixtures. The fixture is
very attractive, saves counter space, and has proven to sell incremental product. The
fixture holds 14 to 20 knives and locks from the back. If a new dealer orders 13 or more
knives, we sell the display fixture at our cost, and subsidize it by providing our new dealer
with a no charge knife that can be sold for approximately the same cost as the display
purchase price.
(Fixture Dimensions: H =24”, W = 15”, D = 7”). Consumer brochures, feature plaques, and
antler display stands are available for glass case merchandising.
Locking Display Fixture
PRODUCTION PROCESS
We design, engineer, and build our own products. Every SILVER STAG team
member manages one of several production work stations, and contributes
to each and every knife built. To gain production efficiencies, and to keep our
products reasonably priced, we build large same style production runs and
avoid one of one custom designs. We are experts at transforming raw sheets
of Tool Steel into extraordinary razor sharp tools. Please review the following
summary of our manufacturing techniques:
1. We design our blades and cutlery designs using CAD Software.
2. The CAD files are transferred to our CNC Plasma or Laser cutting machines.
3. The profiled designs, blades, guards, and component parts are cut with the
Plasma or Laser machine.
4. We build prototypes to review functionality, durability, comfort, feel, and
aesthetics.
5. We use a CNC surface grinder to remove the mill scale from the profiled
blades and components. The surface grinder also regulates blade and part
thickness.
6. The blades are Hollow or Flat ground “Free-Hand” using Bader grinding
machines.
7. The blades are polished “Free-Hand” using compressed rubber and cloth
wheels attached to grinding machines.
8. The blades are precision heat treated to a 58 to 62 Rockwell Hardness.
9. Shed antler and hardwoods are cut, shaped and incorporated into each
design by hand. Pins and epoxy; accompanied with our proprietary hands-on
assembly process guarantees strength and durability (lifetime warranty on all
of our fixed blade knives).
10. Each knife is shaped, sanded, and polished using belt sanders, buffing
wheels, and hand tools. The finishing process ensures a comfortable balanced
feel, while providing each knife with its own individual uniqueness, character
and beauty.
11. Each knife is sharpened by hand, then cleaned, oiled, and inspected. The
finished knife is fitted to a high quality handmade leather sheath.
The forge welding process for our Damascus blades is much more
complicated and can be reviewed in detail on the following Damascus
product series description header, or on the video link located on our website.

SHEATHS
All of our Fixed Blade knives with blades under 5” include a high quality
leather belt pouch sheath that can be worn vertically or horizontally. All
Fillet Designs also include a high quality leather pouch sheath. A leather tie
is included with all pouch sheaths, just in case the customer would like to tie
the knife handle to the sheath for additional protection. All of our Fixed Blade
designs with a blade over 5”, include an upgraded hand laced snap sheath
that can only be worn vertically. Our Damascus and Product Enhancement
Series designs include an upgraded hand laced snap sheath. Please
note, there are a few pouch and snap sheaths available for some models
regardless of the blade size and can be special ordered. Please check for
availability. Lastly, belt sheaths are available for our Folder designs and sold
separately. Dies are made for all of our existing sheaths and we do not make
custom sheaths. All sheaths are vegetable tanned cow hide leather and
100% made in USA.
WHATS NEW
This is our boldest roll out of new designs, new product series, and design enhancements. Please review the following summary of new
SILVER STAG product line refinements and additions:
• Over the last year, we have been incorporating beautiful hardwoods into some of our most popular designs. Due to the
overwhelming positive response, we have expanded the use of Maple, Walnut, and Cocobolo to existing and new designs.
• We recently designed and engineered our first “Liner-Lock” pocket knives. They are unique, exceptional, and a must have!
• We designed a new “SILVER FRAME Series”! These D2 steel knives are unique, extremely utilitarian, and offered at a great price point.
• We have expanded our popular “Chuck Wagon” Series with new “Full Tang” Chef knives.
• We have added a new “Enhanced Custom Series”. This new series will feature new and existing designs that include File Work, Wood
Inlays, Jeweling, and Mosaic pins.
• We have designed and engineered a new pivot pin for our folding knives that has improved their performance and durability.
• We have added great New Designs to most of our product series.

CROWN SERIES - D2 steel is an air hardening, high carbon, and high chromium tool steel possessing extremely high wear resisting
properties. D2 steel is commonly used in the machining industries to manufacturer dies and punches that repeatedly cut other materials.
D2 Steel is extremely tough and durable! The high chromium content provides good corrosion resistance, (but it can and will rust if it is
not properly taken care of). The blades are heat treated to a 62 Rockwell hardness and are guaranteed to retain their factory edge for
extended periods of heavy use. When it does come time to re-sharpen, the blades will hone to a razor edge. In our professional opinion,
there is nothing better than D2 steel. The following Crown Series features North American Deer and Elk antler crown/burr handles.

ELK STICK SERIES - These very utilitarian designs are manufactured with the center portion of the Elk antler beam or tine. The finished
knives are clean, balanced, and easy to control. The knives in this series are manufactured in ¾ tang construction and have a very classy
traditional look and feel. This series features both D2 and 1095 High Carbon Steel blades. Each knife includes a leather pouch sheath that

TOOL STEEL SERIES -1095 High Carbon Tool Steel is also referred to as “Cutlery Spring Steel”, and is well known for its use in
manufacturing commercial saw blades. This extreme high carbon steel hones to a razor sharp edge (better than any stainless steel), retains
its edge (better than most stainless steels), and is easier to sharpen, (compared to stainless steel). This steel is often used to manufacture
car springs, files, and hand tools. SILVER STAG 1095 blades are heat treated to a 58 Rockwell Hardness. Traditional jeweling is applied to
the blades. This process involves taking a wire mesh bit and pressing down on the blade with a drill press to create swirls on the blade. The
indented swirl pattern on the blade surface assists the blade in retaining oil for corrosion protection. You can’t go wrong using one of our
Tool Steel designs for extreme field work. The smaller designs include a leather pouch sheath, and the larger designs include an upgraded
hand laced snap sheath. The blades need to be oiled after use to prevent rusting.

DAMASCUS SERIES – SILVER STAG Damascus steel is manufactured by forge welding multiple layers of high carbon steels into a
solid block called a billet, (SILVER STAG contains 1095 & 15N20 high carbon tool steels). The billet is folded and re-welded several times
to produce layers, (SILVER STAG Damascus = 150 to 250 layers). Patterns are created by manipulating the steel during the forge welding
process, (SILVER STAG offers a random and twist pattern). The blades are hand profiled from the layered steel billet block. The combination
of layered hard and soft steels creates blade flexibility, toughness, and produces invisible serrations on the edge that aid cutting. SILVER
STAG Damascus blades are extremely functional and durable. The nickel in the 15N20 steel keeps corrosion at bay, but the blades can and
will rust if they are not occasionally oiled. An up-graded, hand laced leather sheath is included with every style.

FOLDING SERIES – Over the last three years, we have made several refinements and improvements to our Folding Notch and Back-
Lock designs. For example, we redesigned the back springs, designed our own unique hardened stainless steel pivot pin, and fine-tuned
the assembly process. They have always been good, but now they are exceptional!
We recently finished engineering and building our first two new “Liner Lock’ pocket designs. The initial response has been phenomenal and
we are very excited and proud to add these exceptional new designs to our Folding Series. The entire series is manufactured with D2 steel
blades, brass liners, and stainless steel components. The blades are double disc ground and hardened to a 60 Rockwell. Several styles are
available with antler or stabilized wood scale handles. The Folding Series has broad appeal and are designed for everyday carry and use.
A leather pouch belt sheath is available for the Notch and Back Lock Designs and sold separately.

SCRIMSHAW SERIES- Scrimshaw is a process of carving directly into the smooth bone finish of the antler. A wash is then applied to
reveal the artist’s work. The majority of SILVER STAG’s scrimshaw is subcontracted to Michelle Severe, a nationally recognized Scrimshaw
Artist that specializes in North American wildlife. The finished product is stunning and each piece is signed by the artist. Please call the
factory direct for current scrimshaw availability, and/or to place a custom order. Any knife can have scrimshaw designs applied to the

I received my Silver Stag Big Gamer today. I had to write and
tell you what a well crafted knife it is. The whole fit and finish is perfect.
Balance is just right and the crowned antler handle seems like it was
made for my hand. This knife was made by a truly gifted craftsman.
I had some engraving done and it was flawless and perfectly displayed
on the antler handle. This is not my first Silver Stag because I’ve learned

On Saturday, January 18, 2014, I was at the local NWTF chapter

I bought my first Silver Stag in the mid-90s (and have bought
more since for friends, business associates, and MYSELF!). The blades
are amazing. The steel is really, really, strong and holds an edge like
nothing else. Utility aside, they look great. I’ve seen similar hand-made
