The ammonia refrigeration system for the Skating Rink was installed in 1981. The “Life Cycle” for this type of system is 20-25 years. We are now operating on “Borrowed Time” Compressor # 1 Compressor # 2 Condenser Units Existing Electrical Panel New Refrigeration System Replacement System cost estimate is $400,000 The engineering study recommends a total replacement of the electrical system, estimated cost $150,000 The new, enhanced system will have the capacity to deal with potential climate change, and to offer an extended operating season. Capital Campaign Goals Phase 1 Raise $600,000 by August 2008 - Replace skating Rink Refrigeration System - Replace Electrical System for entire complex - Upgrade lighting to CSA Standards Phase 2 Raise $400,000 by December 2009 - Install Heat Recovery System - Install Ventilation System - Upgrade lighting in remainder of Complex Our 5 Year Vision Church Memorial Park will be a quality recreational centre serving all citizens in the Municipality of the District of Chester in all seasons. CMP will be clean, bright and modern and provide a warm, cozy and welcoming feeling to users. CMP will be considered the sporting and recreational hub of the community. Summary The refrigeration system for the skating rink at Church Memorial Park must be replaced. We are operating on borrowed time. In November 2007 we almost lost our ice due to a mechanical failure and were saved only by the generosity of a local business.
