He grew up in Oslo and educated in England at the London International Film School from 1990 to 1993. He made his directorial debut with the short film Montana in 1993 . He continued with the shorts he directed the feature film Jonny Vang in 2003 . The film had its premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival. In 2006 he directed The Bothersome Man . The film won the ACID Award at the Cannes Film Festival and the Amanda Award for Best Director.
