he wonderful taste of Southeast Asian cuisine is the result of years
of interaction between Buddhists, Muslims, Christians, and Chinese.
A typical Thai dinner can consist of steamed rice, a hot curry,
a cold salad, a vegetable dish, and soup.
Dinner often concludes with fresh fruit such as
a ripe mango, served as desert. Stockholm has
many Southeast Asian restaurants. We’d like to
present a few of our own favorite choices.
Authentic Thai cuisine
Blue Chili is one of recent additions to the scene
of Thai restaurants in Stockholm. With a combination of relaxing atmosphere, authentic Thai cuisine

The restaurant Naglo, located on Gustav Adolf
Square is a watering hole for politicians, as well
as locals and tourists. In the cozy and classic dining room, Bicke the restaurant owner manages
the restaurant himself with a firm hand and friendly

and flexible service. Anyone wishing for a vodka
can go to the Vodka Bar located in conjunction

Design at North
Here were Vasastan ends, just off Northgate,
urban landscape meets park life. The restaurant
Haga Forum is housed in a beautiful glass box
with obvious James Bond influences. Built by
the Danish designer Hack Kampmann in 1962,
the restaurant was originally a bus terminal.
Haga Forum is as much about interior design as
culinary cuisine. The restaurant’s guests are elegant, smartly dressed and fit perfectly into the environment. Haga Forum’s friendly staff serves elegant dishes presented from a contemporary menu.
Although the cuisine is generally Swedish, some
cross-over is included.

apanese tastes, Chinese cooking, and Mongolian barbeque. Travel within
Stockholm’s city limits and experience all these exciting tastes, from sashimi
to spicy Szechuan cuisine. Sushi came to Sweden during the seventies, almost
forty years later we can enjoy Sushi in almost every corner in Stockholm.
A Sushi chain worth a visit is Sushi Yama. They have since 2008, when the
chain issued their first restaurant, been serving sushi as it should be served.
In a stylish and relaxing environment sushi of the
highest caliber can be enjoyed. The chain has
currently got restaurants in Uppsala, Gothenburg,
Västerås and last but not least in Stockholm.
Japan has a lot to offer.
The stylistically modern restaurant, Shogun, in
the Old Town is one of the oldest Japanese restaurants in the city. This is the address you want when
you feel like trying something else besides sushi.
Shogun has a sushi bar and two tatami rooms
where you sit on braided mats placed directly on
the floor. The menu features both buckwheat soba
noodles in bouillon, as well as rice in tea bouillon
with diced salmon. As a sweet finish to dinner,
we have matcha, i.e. green tea ice cream. Refreshing and different.
“Today, everyone has tasted sushi and are more
curious about other Japanese specialties,” says
owner Andrew Choy.
East Asia at one address
Restaurant King Tan at Sveavägen 47 is the perfect restaurant if you are a group of friends who
can’t decide on what to eat. For a reasonable
price you can choose among three different buffets and á la carte. The Mongolian barbeque is

A culinary journey through cuisine, exotic setting
and a bit of the Far East can be found near Central
Station, in Vasagatan in Stockholm. This restaurant
is called simply MBQ. Shortening of the Mongolian Barbeque. A specialty is their ”smorgasbord”,
though the Mongolian way. About 20 dishes to
choose from. Shrimp, meat, salads, vegetables of
freshest quality. Combined with Mongolian spices,
it will be a successful dining experience.

asta from Italy, olive oil, an aroma of truffles, and pizza, Persian tidbits
in the bar, or warm Spanish wines and tapas. Warm and generous like
Lebanon. It’s called Mediterranean food. Lebanon is a small country with
a generous gastronomic heart. We discover the warmth, generosity, and
all the delicious offerings at the Tabbouli restaurants.
Located at three addresses in the city, Söder,
Kungsholmen and Norrmalm, we feel at home in
these warm and welcoming surroundings with so
many textiles. Our table quickly fills up with meze
dishes including grilled halloumi cheese, delicious
wine leaf rolls, and air-dried beef fillet on a bed of
lettuce. Our glasses are filled with the fiery Lebanese red wine, and later we enjoy spiced coffee,
exquisite pastry, and hookah.
From Meze to Tapas
A short trip to Spain, the Restaurant Puerta del Sol
are sometimes referred to as ”Stockholm’s own
Spain.” This is something that the head chef at
the restaurant has taken on. It does not matter if
you are new to Spanish food or is a thoroughbred connoisseur, all guests will be satisfied. Just
like it should feel when you travel to Spannien on
vacation. Here it is only for you to pick out what
looks good on the menu. At this restaurant, you’ll
fall in love with hearty paella, spicy tapas and
refreshing sangria .... all cooked according to the
tradition.
From One Thousand and One Night
Shahrzad Restaurant takes its name from the epic
storyteller of One Thousand and One Night. Shahrzad is a new Persian restaurant located on Regeringsgatan here in Stockholm. The food from Iran
varies from the different parts of the country. Restaurant Shahrzad has selected the best from each
region. How about, for example, Sia Sefid which
is a minced lamb skewers and saffron marinated
chicken skewers or maybe Daal Adas a Lentil stew
with garlic, ginger and cumin in tomato sauce. So
visit Shahrzad for a culinary expedition to Persia.

Town, Lilla Karachi at Lilla Nygatan. This is an
address for the connoisseur who takes pleasure
