ummertime in Stockholm you’ll see people socializing and having a coffee
break on the sidewalks. In the winter Stockholmers look for a warm and
cozy interior for our coffee breaks. Eating out at lunch is almost a tradition
for us Swedes. Nearly every restaurant offers a daily lunch special. It´s a
lot cheaper compared with the á la carte in the evenings.
A lot of street cafés also serve lunch as well as
take away. Now days it’s common to have a fast
café latté at Seven Eleven.
But at Östermalm you can do it right. Karla
Café is situated in the heart of this stylish part of
Stockholm. You’ll find this café at Karlavägen 71
and it’s a must visit for you who likes to take a coffee break with style. Here, young students stops
for lunch, colleague have an after work and you
can see an elderly couple siting in colored armchairs reading today’s news. When you visit Karla
Café you’ll get the feeling that you have been invited home to a good friend. The interior décor is
inviting and the staff is very friendly.

he wonderful taste of Southeast Asian cuisine is the result of years
of interaction between Buddhists, Muslims, Christians, and Chinese.
A typical Thai dinner can consist of steamed rice, a hot curry, a cold
salad, a vegetable dish, and soup.
Dinner often concludes with fresh fruit such as
a ripe mango, served as desert. Stockholm has
many Southeast Asian restaurants. We’d like to
present a few of our own favorite choices.
Authentic Thai cuisine

Here were Vasastan ends, just off Northgate,
urban landscape meets park life. The restaurant Haga Forum is housed in a beautiful
glass box with obvious James Bond
influences. Built by the Danish designer Hack Kampmann in 1962,
the restaurant was originally a bus
terminal.

A new Asian star in town, are named Restaurant
Waipo. This is an Asian tapas restaurant which
has in a short time become very popular. This,
because of their fantastic food selection and stunning interior design. The head chef, Mr. Jianping
Lan, has over 10 years’ experience of cooking
authentic Chinese cuisine. He has won numerous
awards in various cooking competitions in his hometown. He is highly regarded as one the best
Asian chefs in Stockholm. There is no doubt that
the dishes at Waipo taste delicious. Restaurant
Waipo is highly recommended and it’s a good
idea to book a table if you plans to stop for lunch

Old ones rules
At Luntmakargatan, a quiet street only one block
from the hectic Sveavägen, you’ll find “the old
safe choice” named Sakura. At this street there
are a whole host of restaurants. The majority
of them serving food from the eastern parts of
the earth. So why stop at Sakura in this competition? We have one answer, their well-made
Japanese food. What’s impresses here is that in
addition to sushi, there is a lot of interesting Japanese dishes to choose. Several Japanese pots
and above all, it is built-in grills in the tables that
are very special. Both the pre-and main courses
are options where you get into the raw materials

those of you who wants to be more like Japanese or simply looking for a more entertainment
after dinner, there is karaoke bar downstairs.
A Sushi chain worth a visit is Sushi Yama. They
have since 2008, when the chain issued their first
restaurant, been serving sushi as it should be served.
In a stylish and relaxing environment sushi of the
highest caliber can be enjoyed. The chain has currently started restaurants in Uppsala, Gothenburg,
in Västerås and last but not least in Stockholm.
Japan has a lot to offer.
The stylistically modern restaurant, Shogun, in
the Old Town is one of the oldest Japanese restaurants in the city. This is the address you want when
you feel like trying something else besides sushi.
Shogun has a sushi bar and two tatami rooms
where you sit on braided mats placed directly on
the floor. The menu features both buckwheat soba
noodles in bouillon, as well as rice in tea bouillon
with diced salmon. As a sweet finish to dinner,

This restaurant is called simply MBQ. Shortening of the Mongolian Barbeque. A specialty
is their”smorgasbord”, though the Mongolian
way. About 20 dishes to choose from. Shrimp,
meat, salads, vegetables of freshest quality.

Last but not least we would like to recommend
Pong, known as the ’King of Asian Buffets. At Pong
Buffé you can enjoy an excellent lunch or dinner with a large range of different Asian dishes.
It is one of very few restaurants in Stockholm
that have a DimSum buffet. Here, they have
a range and a quality of the cuisine that impresses and they almost has something for
everyone’s taste.

with modern furnishings creates a warm relaxed atmosphere. For those who want private dining there are VIP rooms available,
