FLITE LINES CAREFLITE’s NEWSLETTER Feb., Mar. & April 2015 CAREFLITE ASSUMED 911/EMS IN ELLIS & KAUFMAN COUNTIES ON MARCH 1 CareFlite will assumed responsibility for Ellis and Kaufman Counties’ 911/EMS service on March 1, 2015 at 7am. This is the result of the assignment of those contracts from ETMC to CareFlite and approved by the various political jurisdictions affected. For CareFlite these are strategic markets with each having a Sponsor Hospital and access to our resources in Dallas County as needed. Over 90% of ETMC’s employees joined the CareFlite family. Shown below are maps showing our 911/EMS service after March 1st and a map showing the locations of new CareFlite ground ambulance stations. BILL BONNY EMT-P APPOINTED REGIONAL OPERATIONS MANAGER FOR ELLIS AND KAUFMAN COUNTIES CareFlite has appointed Bill Bonny EMT-P (shown at left teaching the Critical Care Paramedic Course at the Mabee EMS Training Center on 2/14/15) as its Regional Operations Manager for Ellis and Kaufman Counties. Bill received his undergraduate degree from Texas Tech. He worked at the Addison Fire Department from 1987 until retiring as a Captain in 2011. He was responsible for EMS Operations in Addison and also instructed at the National Fire Academy in Emmittsburg, Maryland. From 2012 until 2014, he directed the Paramedic Education program at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. He joined CareFlite on February 14, 2014. ©2014 CareFlite, 3110 S. Great Southwest Parkway, Grand Prairie, Texas 75052 CAREFLITE ORANGE & BLUE HEARTS DELIVERED ACROSS THE REGION IN CELEBRATION OF VALENTINE’S DAY 2015 Approximately 1400 orange and blue hearts filled with chocolates were distributed to CareFlite’s customers by CareFlite Crews, Liaisons and Supervisors across the system with our message that their support keeps the orange heart beating strongly all year long. Bryan Chin, pictured below, was instrumental in the promotion with his enthusiastic support of moving and labelling hundreds of the hearts in preparation for their distribution. CONGRATULATIONS TO CAREFLITE’S EMPLOYEES OF THE YEAR FOR 2014… Congratulations to CareFlite’s two employees of the year for 2014. Left: Cedric Jackson from Support Services in Johnson County is the Ground Employee of the Year and Andrew Foxcroft CFRN from the Whitney Air Base is the Employee of the Year from all departments except Ground. Each month two employees of the month are chosen from the nominations received, one from Ground and one from all other departments. Each monthly winner receives a $50 restaurant gift card and is entered to win in a drawing for Employee of the Year held each January. Both gentlemen received a check for $1000. Congratulations. AUSTRALIAN COLLEGE PROFESSOR VISITS CAREFLITE… William Lord PhD, Associate Professor of Paramedic Sciences at the University of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia visited UT Southwestern, CareFlite and MedStar on February 2nd. Pictured above is Italy based Gerald Clore EMT-P with members of the Italy Fire Dept. Eva Zuniga, Membership Coordinator, at the DATCU employee benefits fair in Denton on March 25th. At approximately noon On April 1st, the Forney Fire Department and a CareFlite ambulance responded to County Road 213A, which is located east of Forney off of Helms Trail, for a man who was run over by a farm tractor. A helicopter was dispatched to transport the man to a Dallas area hospital for several serious injuries. The man was a ranch hand at the ranch on County Road 213A.
