The instructions are for a small motif, large motif and a doily. The large motif consists of two rounds added to the small motif. The doily is constructed from several
small motifs joined together and a final edging made up of three rounds. The pattern illustrations follow the written instructions.
Note: At the start of a round, there is no join for the first ring or chain. At the end of
a round, join the last ring or chain to the first one.
SMALL MOTIF
CENTER
[1 shuttle + ball]
*R 3+5-3-3-5-3
RW
CH 4
RW
Repeat from * for a total of 6 rings
ROUND 1
[1 shuttle + ball at 1st free P of a R in the center]
*CH 2+1-1-1-1-1-1-2
(+) to 3rd free P of the same R
CH 2+1-1-1-1-1-1-2
(+) to 1st free P of the next R
Repeat from * until the end of the round
ROUND 2
[1 shuttle + ball at the middle P of a R in the center]
special instructions for this round:
1. Work this round behind round 1
2. ++ = stack the middle P of the round 1 CH on top of the last P in the last CH of round 2
and join through both P
*CH 4++3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-4
(+) to middle P of next center R
Repeat from * until the end of the round
For a doily make several small motifs, joining small motifs at the middle P of the
chain on round 2, then continue with instructions for edging. See the doily diagram
for clarification of where to join the motifs.
