From the Principal’s Desk
Greetings,
This time of the year is the time when we have students
competing academically and athletically in a variety of
settings allowing so many of the talents of our children to
be displayed. What a blessing!
Congratulations to our Girls’ A1Volleyball team for their
2nd place trophy in the State Volleyball Tournament. Great
Work!
Congratulations also to our 7th and 8th grade students who
participated in the Forensics Festival at WLHS. It’s great to
see you channeling your speaking ability in this way.
Congratulations to the students who represented St.
John’s in the Math Track Competition at St. Paul’s
Muskego. We sent Three teams of six students from grades
3-8. Thanks for your efforts!
Have you planned for a Chick-fin-A supper on Monday?
The restaurant is located in Brookfield at 125th and Capitol
Drive. You will be able to enjoy the company of other St.
John’s families for supper and CES will receive a portion
back as a fund-raiser if you buy your meal and drop the
receipt in a box on the counter. I hope to see you there.
Please continue to keep Miss Amanda Treder in your
prayers as she considers our call to teach 3rd grade and be
our Coordinator of School Music. Miss Treder teaches in a
multi-grade classroom in a small school in Crystal Lake, IL.
Her current classroom includes third grade. She is in her
15th year of teaching after graduating from Martin Luther
College, New Ulm in 2001. She has completed work on a
Master’s Degree in Music from Concordia University
Mequon, WI
Lord’s Blessings,
Mr. Uecker

Parents, if you choose to have your child’s picture retaken,
you must send the original envelope of school pictures with
your child on November 18th. The packet must be complete

After-school Behavior
Parents, there hare a number of times after school
when students are waiting for a sport to begin or for a
sibling to get out of a practice. When his happens,
please make sure our child is waiting quietly. The
behavior after school should be similar to thae behavior
during school: no running, ball bouncing/throwing, etc.
Please help set the tone by closely supervising your child.
Thanks.
Forensics Festival
On Saturday, November 7th, 17 of our seventh and eighth
grade students participated in a forensics competition at
Wisconsin Lutheran High School. The students worked
extremely hard during the past two months writing
introductions, memorizing scripts, and utilizing the public
speaking skills that they have learned in language arts
class. We are very proud of these confident young people
who used their God-given abilities this past weekend.

Tournament at Star of Bethlehem in New Berlin this week
Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The first game for the
Crusader Boys is at 6:30pm on Friday followed by the
Crusader Girls’ first game at 7:20pm. It would be great to
fill the stands with Crusader fans for their first games of the
season, especially since they are conveniently back-to-back.
(Complete tournament brackets can be found on the
Crusader Website.) Go Crusaders!!

wreaths. If you are willing to lend a hand, here are the dates
and times where volunteers would still be appreciated:
Friday, November 21, 6-9pm

Christmas Eve Service
All Students in Grades 1-8 Sing
St. John’s Christmas Eve Service will take place at
4:00pm, December 24th in the school gymnasium. All St.
John’s students in grades 1-8 will be participating. If you
know that your students will not be in our St. John’s
Christmas Eve Service, please send an email to our child’s
classroom teacher as soon as possible. The teachers are
beginning to work on the logistics of the Christmas Eve
seating and preparations and would greatly appreciate
knowing who WILL NOT be at the service here at St.
John’s
Illumine Mission Collection
For our first semester mission collection the student's
offerings will be going to Illumine Church in Rock Hill, South
Carolina. This is the mission church some of our teens from
the youth group helped on a mission trip this past summer.
We are collecting our money to help them buy Bibles as well
as book shelves for their church library. As of November 8th,
St. John’s has collected $833.54 for the Illumine Mission. As
we get closer to Christmas we will collect items for their
Mornings with Mommy ministry. (See information above.)
If you would like to make an additional contribution please
contact Terry Buske or Naomi Stein.
K3 News
Woodland animals have continued to be our focus in K3.
The children enjoyed playing with the forest habitat we made
for our beautiful collection of Woodland animals. Our
woodland animal puppets and stuffed animals were added this
week and were also popular. The children built homes for
them with our blocks and used their imagination to come up
with some silly stories! We enjoyed some great books, Boris
Beaver , Sassafras, and Secrets of the Apple Tree were a few.
Our Bible lesson was “God Leads His People through the
Red Sea”. It was about how God led Moses and the Israelites
out of Egypt and across the Red Sea in an amazing way. God
watched over Moses and the Israelites and protected them
when Pharaoh meant to harm them. God watches over us too
and has the power to help us in any kind of trouble. It
pleases our Lord when we call upon Him in troubling times of
our life. When we do this, it shows we trust God and believe
that he can help us. We can feel safe in God’s almighty arms
and thank and praise him for always taking care of us.
~Mrs. Henning
Illumine Mission Project
“Mornings with Mommy”
Christmas is quickly approaching. Many of us have
already started our shopping along with other preparations.
During this time we especially remember the real reason for
the Christmas season. We rejoice in receiving the greatest
gift ever given—our Savior! Our love for him compels us to
share some of our abundant blessings. As you prepare your
hearts and homes for the Christmas season, would you
consider also helping out our school mission project for this
semester?
For the past several years St. John’s students in grades
K5-8 have bought a gift for our mission project instead of
doing a gift exchange in their classrooms. We would like to
do this same thing again for our adopted mission church –
Illumine Church in North Carolina. Students in K3 and K4
are welcome to join us in this as well. They have a
“Mornings with Mommy” program. This is an outreach
program they are doing to bring moms and their young
children from the community into contact with Jesus. They
could use our support with the items listed below:
• Cotton balls
• Straws
• Colored cardstock
• Construction paper
• Glue sticks
• Thick size masking tape
• Do-a-dot primary markers
• Washable paint, all colors
• Washable colors and markers
• Baby wipes
• Infant toys (new or very gently used)
Please bring your gifts to school anytime between now
and Christmas and place them in the bins located near the
school and childcare offices. Please put any monetary
donations in an envelope marked “Illumine Church” and
put them in the box in the office, or give them to your
child’s teacher. The monetary donations will be used to
purchase additional supplies and some larger items on their
“wishlist”, such as a bulletin board or “colorful 8’x10’ round
carpet”. A complete listing of items needed can be found
by the collection bins on the main and lower levels of
school. For more information, please contact Mrs. Buske
(grade 1) or Mrs. Stein (K4).
