date it was opened as a theatre. Originally a riding
school, The Court Theatre is set in the attractive
woodland estate of Pendley Manor (once the family
home of Dorian Williams, the television sports
commentator) on the rural outskirts of Tring.

Marreau and the
Chocolate Policeman
Founded 25 years ago, Frayed
Knot Theatre Company
celebrates by restaging the play
that started the company off. Here’s
your chance to see the very first of the Marreau
plays written and directed by local playwright Rob
Farrow – the first in what is currently a sequence
of 11 plays featuring the suave, pompous, often
inept, but always kind-hearted European (even
he’s not sure precisely where in Europe) detective
and his constant companions Gwendolyn and
Simpson. The Marreau plays are best described
as detective comedies – think of Agatha Christie’s
Hercule Poirot with plenty of laughs - “Marreau’s
so delicious” as the Gazette once reviewed it!

Pendley Theatre Company presents
After Electra
Written by April de Angelis
Virgie is a painter. On her
84th birthday, she invites
her family, a few close
friends and a taxi driver
to celebrate her life as a
painter. The celebration is
an opportunity for Virgie
to own up to what most of them already
know – how the family have coped with a
singleminded mother who chose the painter’s
easel over the kitchen sink. What they don’t
know and which engulfs them like a lorry load
of bricks, is Virgie’s intended birthday gift to
them. The content of After Electra runs deep,
but the rapier wit that April de Angelis gifts to
her characters shines a joyful light on the very
darkest subject matter.
£10.00 - £12.00. Starts 8.00pm.

The Court Theatre presents a traditional family pantomime
By Ian Gower and Nick Russon
This year the panto team at The Court Theatre present Dick Whittington and His
Cat as a follow up to last year’s massively successful, sell out show Cinderella.
While there is not a soap star in sight this pantomime features an abundance of local
talent with over 40 years experience producing traditional family pantomimes.
Boo and hiss the nasty King Rat as he tries to spoil Dick’s plans to find true love and
cheer on our heroes to ensure that good triumphs over evil.
Everyone who wants to, can join the cast on stage for a sing song at the end as a
stunning finale, something the kids will never forget.
Adults £10.00.
Children Under 16 £8.00.
See website for family-friendly start times.
The Court Theatre at Pendley is owned by Grass Roots Group Plc and is supported by
Tring Arts Trust (Reg. Charity Number 1049204) and operated by Court Theatre Ltd
(Reg. Charity Number 1147983).
