Bitexco Financial Tower
The Bitexco Financial Tower, located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City’s business and
entertainment district, is arguably the most exciting commercial property
development to be undertaken in Vietnam to date. World renowned American
architect, Carlos Zapata, the creative mastermind behind Bitexco Financial Tower,
drew inspiration for this skyscraper’s unique shape from Vietnam’s national flower,
the Lotus. To the Vietnamese, the Lotus is a symbol of purity, commitment and
optimism for the future.
Built at a time of unprecedented growth in the Vietnamese economy, the Bitexco
Financial Tower is designed to represent the energy and aspirations of its people and
is an iconic embodiment of the new dynamic Vietnam.
Upon completion by October 2010, the 68-storey building – the tallest in Vietnam has anchored Ho Chi Minh City’s skyline. This urban masterpiece is more than a
skyscraper of glass and steel. It is an icon combining the qualities of graceful beauty
and economic progress as it soars above District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City, the
commercial hub of Vietnam.
The Bitexco Financial Tower is a true example of forward thinking and design. Redefining the future of commercial space in Vietnam, this 262-metre tower has a sixstorey retail podium. The Grade A property has more than 37,000 square metres of
office space and around 10,000 square metres of retail space, Icon68. Around total
of 1,350 square metres of space is accommodated for a casual dining restaurant on
level 50, a fine dining restaurant on level 51, and an executive VIP & Bar Lounge on
level 52 where people can wind down after a day’s work.
A heli-pad, Vietnam’s first, is located on Level 52 and an Observation Deck, Saigon
Skydeck on Level 49 offers sweeping 360‐degree panoramic views of the entire city
and the nearby Saigon River.

The Bitexco Financial Tower offers 360-degree views of the entire city and the Saigon
River. In addition to the Tower’s unique floor shape, it gives a modern environment
which allows for stunning views of Ho Chi Minh City.
Saigon Skydeck has opened for visitors from January 1. 2011. Visitors have the
opportunity to visit Saigon Skydeck, not only enjoy the full sight of the Ho Chi Minh
City and Saigon River, but also have the chance to use the facilities and services at
this Skydeck such as using the information touching screen and binoculars for
getting to know all highlight destinations around the city; taking a tour to review our
lotus, Ho Chi Minh City history, building construction story boards to get all the city’s
background and the inspiration of our building’s history.
At Saigon Skydeck, guests can find unique and specialty handmade embroidery,
lacquer wares, ceramic and souvenir products which are made for only Saigon
Skydeck. Especially these items are collected from where they are best produced all
over Vietnam and brought exclusively to only Saigon Skydeck.

Heli-pad
Located on the southern side of the Bitexco Financial Tower, the heli-pad cantilevers
from the lofty 52nd floor and resembles a blossoming lotus bud.
Constructed from more than 250 tons of structural steel and requiring 4,000 ultrastrong bolts to hold it together, the heli-pad took almost a year to plan, build and
coordinate before it could be hoisted to its place on the 52th floor. Its installation
alone took about two months.
Most of the materials used to construct the heli-pad were purchased from Europe
and South Korea and the manufacturing took place in Bu Gang, a city near Seoul.
Once the fabrication of the heli-pad was completed, it was shipped to Vietnam.
To ensure proper assembly, the entire heli-pad was pre-assembled on the ground of
a factory in Dong Nai province in Vietnam – a process that took about three weeks.
When the heli-pad was ready to be lifted into place, the roads surrounding the
southern face of the Bitexco Financial Tower were closed for safety reasons and the
heli-pad was transported into the centre of District 1. The massive yet delicate
operation of lifting the heli-pad began. It was lifted in parts and attached to the 52th
storey of the Bitexco Financial Tower, 191 meters above Ho Chi Minh City.
Capitalising on their experience in building numerous skyscrapers in South Korea and
Singapore, Hyundai E & C, the main contractor even flew in 15 specialised workers
from South Korea to ensure that Vietnam’s first-ever suspended heli-pad was
installed perfectly – and safely.
