History of SkyDeck™
The installation of IAStage’s first modular tension wire grid for the Actor's Playhouse at the Miracle
Mile in Coral Gables Florida was in January of 2001. This system was a key component in
converting the facilities balcony seating area into a 2nd performance space. The system developed
was the impetus for what would become the SkyDeck™ system.

SkyDeck™ has several features not seen in traditional tension wire grids:
Self Preserving Design – SkyDeck’s inherent design protects each individual cable connection.
Classic TWG design uses an un-protected stud fitting which is susceptible to failure.
Field Repair – cables can be easily repaired in situ with a hand-held swaging tool.
Shop Repair – modular panels can be removed for shop repair.
Lightweight – panel system is lighter than traditional TWG systems, meaning less support steel
and less cost for the overall project.
Quick Installation – SkyDeck™ is designed for rapid installation, the bulk of the fabrication occurs
in the workshop, reducing costly on-site time.

Design
Engineering - Tension wire grid shall support its self-weight plus a uniformly distributed live load
of 20lbs per square foot. The allowable concentrated (point) load shall be 300lbs.
2.m x 2.m panel load tested with 2000kg static load
50% Proof Testing – 50% of cables used in every SkyDeck™ panel are proof-tested.
Construction Tolerances – all components of a SkyDeck™ system are built to
+/-(3mm).
