CHAIRMAN’s
Message
Dear Friends,
The third quarter of the year is the time when MyKasih
hosts its annual charity golf tournament to raise funds
to support efforts on food aid, education and capacity
building targeted towards underserved communities. The
tournament, which was held once again at Glenmarie Golf
& Country Club on 12 September, successfully raised RM
804,950. I would like to thank all who have contributed
towards this cause. The sponsors are recognised in
subsequent pages of this issue.
In another fund-raiser, JTI Malaysia brought together two
of its community investment partners - The Kuala Lumpur
Performing Arts Centre (klpac) and MyKasih Foundation,
for an unforgettable night of music and entertainment in
aid of underprivileged communities. JTI Malaysia also
supports 574 families in Johor, Sabah, Perak, Pahang
and Kelantan with food essentials.
We welcome a new corporate donor Cenviro Sdn Bhd,
which has donated RM 1 million to support low-income
households in Kedah this year. We would also like to
appreciate many others who have volunteered their time
and personal resources to support MyKasih’s objectives.
At this juncture, I express my deepest gratitude to
donors who have stayed with MyKasih over the years
and continue to wholeheartedly support our mission in
creating loving and caring societies in Malaysia. DIALOG,
AmBank Group, Giant, JTI Malaysia, ConocoPhillips,
Mubadala Petroleum, SapuraKencana Petroleum, CLSA
Chairman’s Trust and Linaco Group, we thank you from
the bottom our hearts.
Poverty alleviation is an uphill battle and a shifting goalpost.
The floods that had hit some parts of the country reminds
us how easily neighbourhoods can be devastated within
hours. We must continue to strengthen our partnerships
with like-minded organisations and individuals to truly
make a difference in the community.
There is no act of giving that is too small. A child assured
of meals in school, a family guaranteed of nourishment
for a whole year, an individual empowered to bring his
family out of poverty – we are indeed blessed to be able
to give the gift of humanity. Mother Teresa gave the gift
of compassion to the forgotten. Mahatma Gandhi gave
the gift of peaceful change to the oppressed. Abraham
Lincoln gave the gift of human dignity to the downtrodden.
These angels devoted their lives into becoming the gifts
to the world.
On that note, I wish us all the passion, sincerity and kindspiritedness to give.

Recently, the scope of the MyKasih system has been expanded beyond food aid and student bursaries to also include
cashless payments for fuel, medical treatments and public transportation. Essentially, the MyKad account becomes the
one main subsidy account which low-income households can use to access multiple welfare products or services.
The Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government, Johor and Sarawak State Governments, as well as
Lembaga Zakat Selangor and Majlis Agama Islam Melaka, have been using the innovative MyKasih system for their
respective welfare programmes for the underprivileged.

The ‘My Happy Corner’ programme allows 800 selected
students from various schools in Kedah to use their
MyKasih smartcards to purchase study tables and chairs
to create a conducive study environment at home.
The ‘Ziarah Kasih Ramadhan’ programme, implemented
in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan and the
Hari Raya celebrations, saw 7,000 underprivileged families
in Kedah receiving food boxes containing essentials such
as rice, flour, batik sarongs, tea, coffee and dates.
Commenting on Cenviro Group’s inaugural collaboration
with MyKasih Foundation and YPRK, Datuk Seri Ismail
Shahudin said, “This programme is our way of looking
after the welfare of the people where we operate. It
also presents a good opportunity for us to foster good
relationships with the community, as well as the local
government agencies and authorities.”
“We adopted the MyKasih system for the ‘My Happy
Corner’ project as it empowers the families with the ability
to choose and pay for what they need. The transparency
of the system also allows us to monitor how money is
being spent,” he added.
In appreciating Cenviro Group’s contribution, MyKasih
Foundation Trustee, Siti Khairon said, “We all have a
responsibility to help the underprivileged. I sincerely hope
more donors in Kedah will partner MyKasih so we can
reach out to more families in this state.”
