Senior Head
Coordinator’s Note
We heeded the call in FAITH as we celebrated
our 38th year. During our 39th year, as one community of brothers and sisters, we pursued our
mission in HOPE. We held on to God’s promises
and faithfulness by being a steadfast people. He
blessed the work of our hands by allowing us to
bear much fruit.
Brothers and sisters, with overflowing joy, it is
my great honor and privilege to present to you
the 2014 Sectors’ and Ministries’ Highlights!
Our 39th Year was a time of innumerable blessings. Let me name a few.
• God brought in many brothers and sisters
to the North Sector and in July last year, it
became two North Sectors—North Sector
1 and 2 with our dear brothers Andy Juan
and Ali Leong serving as Sector Coordinators, respectively.
• The Central Sector is significantly growing
in number. The Central University District is
one such proof.
•We are expanding the bulwark in the
South, with the creation of the sub-district
called Deep South. Also, the South University District has been established.
•The Pathways Ministry continues to press
on with our mission to evangelize. We take
pride in the Harvest Evangelization Conference 2014 held at the SMX Convention
Center. And that’s not all. We set the world
ablaze during the Catchfire Prayer Rally with
almost 12,000 people in Smart Araneta Coliseum!
•We continue to grow strong in the corporate setting as Lingkod ng Panginoon brings
in more people. Acknowledging the need to
raise men leaders, we provided conferences
and gatherings to reinforce the manly character and leadership skills of our brothers
there.
•Christ’s Youth in Action members become
international evangelizers, as they had mission trips abroad to serve.
Brothers and sisters, these are just some of the
many great blessings the Lord has gifted us with.
We know 2015 will be even more exciting. A lot
of things—great things—are about to happen. As
Pope Francis has exhorted us: “Expect to be surprised by the Lord”!
With much to be grateful for and to celebrate, we
live out together our 40th year as a community of
disciples on mission.
Let us “Live the Life in LOVE”!
Big hug,
Spanky Meer

FAMILY
AND LIFe
Formation starting childhood is crucial in raising up people for the kingdom of God. In the same way, we do need to take care of our aging brothers
and sisters. This is the commitment of the Family and Life Ministry of LNP:
to give care and love care to the young and to the old.
KEY DEVELOPMENTS
Friends of Jesus / Junior Young Adults
1. We have adjusted the grade level for the
various stages of our youth program as the
K-12 program of the DepEd was
implemeted two years ago. Initially, we
conformed to the grade levels as
recommended by DepEd. However, as we
observed the effect on our programs, we
adjusted the grade levels to suit to the
child’s age and development, as follows:
-
-
-
FOJ : Grade 1 to 4
JYA : Grade 5 to 7
YA : Grade 8 to 12
2. The 2014 JYA Summer Camp, “ Camp
BRAVE / Mission: H.O.P.E.” was held last
May 1-4, 2014 at Camp Allen in Sta. Cruz,
Laguna.
The goal of the camp was to encourage
the JYAs to know the importance of
Holiness, Obedience, Prayer, and
Evangelization.
The year ended with the JYAs
accomplishing their “Mission-in-Action”
Programs. The goal is to provide the JYAs
the exposure to be oriented to others, to
serve the less fortunate and to make them
competent by using their gifts and talents.
The JYAs of each sector, together with the
help of the sector JYA workers, planned and
executed various outreach activities.
Nuggets of Wisdom (NOW) Ministry
1. The NOW Ministry organized the fourth
“Shindig”ast February to celebrate the
foundation day of the ministry. The evening
was highlighted with the Lord’s Day
celebration and the awarding of the
“Certificate of Recognition” for the NOW
members who have faithfully lived the way of
life of our community for the last 30 years.
This has always been a well-attended and
well-appreciated event for the members.
2. Last November 29, the NOW Ministry
celebrated their “Year-End Thanksgiving
Fellowship” at Tagaytay Highlands. Two
busloads of NOW members joined. A tour of
the resort was arranged as part of the
activities lined up for them. After a
sumptous lunch, a program was held
with all the NOW members participating.
YOUNG
ADULTS
PROGRAM
KEY DEVELOPMENTS
The YA Program aims to respond to the
ever changing need of our community youth.
The on-going program elements continue to
be part of the backbone of the YA Program
that allows us to bear much fruit.
Senior year is service year!
• Community-wide Prayer Meetings. We had five (5) in 2014, with average attendance of 60%
across the Sectors.
• The iSERVE, a leadership training for Grades 10 and 11, has also become a venue for service.
But the younger YA’s can’t wait…
• After attending a leadership training course called iSERVE, 87% of YA Batch 2015 (47 of 54)
went to the Bicol Mission Trip in April.
• In October, a more modest number of them went to Tacloban. This time, mission led them to
reaching out to youth farmers (trained under Fr. Bart Pastor) and giving catechesis to
grade school pupils in preparation for the Pope’s visit.
• YA Batch 2016 took on the challenge CrossTraining (a leadership course) to invite their friends
to come to an evangelistic retreat, Evangelistic Stepping Stones Retreat (ESSR) that they
themselves are putting together.
More YA’s make it to CYA and UD
• 73% of Batch 2014 (36 out of 49) connected to CYA/UD in their first year of college compared
to 51% in 2013 and 61% in 2012.
Youth creating cool YA events
A “YA Core” was established to be the “heads and hands” of the YA Director. They are responsible
for conceptualizing and implementing cool YA events (upon the approval of the YA leadership).
Adjustment in the YA Program in response to the K-12 Curriculum
With the “creative” ways private schools implemented K-12 Curriculum, a good number of Grade 7
were too young for the YA Program. In coordination with the JYA Program, the YA leadership decided
that the YA Program will care for 8th to 12th Grade.
Our dedicated youth workers
Paulo de Alba made his mark as a full time youth worker serving the YA Program part-time (and CYAUD part time). Also, a YA Women’s Council was established, headed by Landa Juan and assisted by
Cor Marcojos. This council aims at looking after the pastoral needs of the sisters in YA.
WORSHIP
MINISTRY
As God’s children, we are wired to give what is due to
Him through our praise and worship. And we want to do
our duty to Him with excellence. This is why we improve
the quality of our communal worship and experience of
prayer through the Worship Ministry.
