questions, and hand out prizes.
Tulsa International Mayfest is committed to Going Green!
Do you want to be involved in helping Mayfest go green? If so, ride your bike
to the festival or carpool, use recycling stations for your plastic bottles, beer
cups and aluminum cans, drink local wine from Summerside Vineyards and
use the Mayfest Website or our mobile site at www.mayfestmobile.com to plan
your festival experience and buy our environmentally-friendly Merchandise.
Bike Valet:
Local non-profit Tulsa Hub will be providing their 7th year of secure bicycle
parking on-site at 3rd and Main. Secure bicycle parking is available from
11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and you may leave your unattended bicycle locked at your
own risk in the racks provided after-hours.
The mission of Tulsa Hub is to change lives through cycling; Tulsa Hub
conducts earn-a-bike programs, traffic safety classes, and a Community
Bicycling Workshop in downtown Tulsa. Bike donations and financial gifts
will be accepted during the secure parking hours (11 a.m.-9 p.m.
Thursday-Saturday, 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. Sunday.) Become a member of the
Tulsa Hub via their website: www.tulsahub.org
Artists:
Performing Artists:
Mayfest showcases the artwork of approximately 120 artists from around the
nation along Main Street, which includes about 85% Juried Artists and 15%
Market Artists. Juried Artists are accepted into Mayfest after a highly selective
jurying process. Juried Artists offer fine art in a variety of mediums, including
everything from clay to wood. Market Artists are artists and craftsmen who
may feature items such as toys, folk art, hand-painted T-shirts, leather goods,
calligraphy, etc. Festival guests will be able to add to their collection by
purchasing affordable artwork from our under $200 program.
With over 100 performances on 4 stages, you’re sure to find a performance
to enjoy at Mayfest! Be sure to catch the free national acts at the Williams
Green Stage at 3rd between Main & Boston. Thursday night features
Grooveyard and Bradio, Friday night JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound and
Nahko and Medicine for the People, as well as Cory Branan and Band of
Heathens on Saturday night.
Artists’ booths will be open Thursday-Saturday 11am - 8pm and Sunday
11am-6pm.
The Community Stage was established in 1992 and features outstanding
vocalists, dancers and instrumentalists from Tulsa and surrounding
communities. The stage was renamed in 2006 to honor long-time
Mayfest supporter and friend, David Cameron. Artists such as Hanson,
Brandon Jenkins, Alaina Whitaker and several Miss Oklahoma Pageant
winners started their performance careers on the Mayfest Community
Stage. Performers of all ages are featured on the stage. Please see the
performance schedule for more information.
Youth Art Gallery:
The Youth Art Gallery, located on the second floor of the Performing Arts
Center, in the LaFortune Studio, at 3rd and Cincinnati, proudly displays art
from hundreds of talented students from the Tulsa area.
The Youth Art Gallery will be open Thursday-Saturday 11am-6pm
and Sunday 11am-3pm and is sponsored by Public Service Company
of Oklahoma.
Invitational Gallery:
Some of the best artists from the Tulsa area have been invited to showcase
their work in the Mayfest Invitational Gallery, located in the lobby of the
Williams Towers. Enter from Samson Plaza at 3rd and Main. The gallery is
an indoor exhibition with all art available for purchase.
The Invitational Gallery will be open Thursday – Saturday 11am - 6pm and
Sunday 11am - 3pm and is sponsored by Williams Center Towers I & II.
Wild About Art Gallery:
Tulsa International Mayfest, in partnership with WPX Energy, the Arts &
Humanities Council of Tulsa and Tulsa Area Community Schools Initiative
(TACSI), offered an after-school art program to all fifth and sixth graders at
Hawthorne Elementary School. Libby Williams, the Artist in Residence at the
Arts & Humanities Council of Tulsa, instructed the students over a five-week
period creating the art on display in this gallery. Their project focused on
creating animal masks and their coordinating landscape collages.
This is the third year that Mayfest and WPX Energy have worked with
children at Hawthorne to create art for their education and enjoyment, as
well as for the festival. Currently at Hawthorne, no art programs are offered.
It’s exciting to see what children can create when given the opportunity.
Wild About Art Gallery will be open in the Downtown YMCA at
418 S. Main St. May 14-17. Hours for the gallery will be 11am – 8pm
Thursday – Friday, 11am – 5pm Saturday and 1pm – 5pm Sunday
and is sponsored by WPX Energy.
David Cameron Community Stage:
Kidzone:
Bring your children to KidZone to create art projects, chase bubbles, draw
with sidewalk chalk, play catch in the park and listen to great musical
performances on the KidZone Stage. Tulsa Geosciences Center will be
leading the fossil dig again this year and kids can take home what they
find! Be sure to visit on Saturday from 11am-3pm to participate in the Bear
Clinic presented by The Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis and enjoy our
Art Beginnings Gallery where children aged 12 and under may purchase a
piece of art for only $5 on Saturday and Sunday.
KidZone is located at 6th and Main on the H.A. Chapman Centennial Green
and features a variety of activities for children of all ages to enjoy the arts.
A complete KidZone schedule is listed before the performance schedule.
KidZone will be open Thursday-Saturday 11am-7pm and Sunday
11am-6pm and is sponsored by The Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis.
Mayquest:
The Rowland Group of Staffing Companies is partnering with Mayfest
to host a weeklong, community-wide treasure hunt with a cash prize of
$2,500 provided by The Rowland Group. The contest runs May 11-15.
Watch Six in the Morning (KOTV Channel 6) daily throughout this week for
the clues. Be sure to like Mayfest and The Rowland Group on Facebook to
watch the contest in real time and possibly get extra hints! The first person

win daily prizes as well! Pre-registration required for all prizes, visit
http://rowland-group.com/mayquest/ to begin!
