Introduction to free machine quilting

Are you frightened about free-machine quilting? This is your
chance to face your fear and build your confidence with an
experienced tutor. This is ongoing class, up to 4 different
lessons, come to one or all four.

“Should I use a single or a double binding?” Why not lift the binding with a contrast
coloured piping? What if the quilt is double sided, or it has round or scalloped
edges?? And most importantly: how do I do the mitred corners?? If you are
confused now, by the end of this class you will know it all!

Have you made your quilt top but now it’s sitting in a drawer because you’re afraid
of the next steps? Three ways of holding the layers of quilt together, quilting using
only straight stitches, and finishing the edges with neat binding – that’s what we will
cover in this busy day. You will have to bring your finished quilt top.

Cot quilt is the most popular quilt – just the right size

Sizzix day – die cutting machine
Tuesday 12th January at 10-4 PM
Did you ever wondered how the die-cutting machine works to
save your time? Using the Sizzix cutter you will cut out triangles
or quarter circles and learn how to tackle curve piecing or
points on the triangles. Each project can be turned into runner
or a cot quilt.

Nuno, cobweb, ruffle and lattice felt
Friday 11th March at 10:30 – 3:30 PM
Clare will be showing you how to make delicate
cobweb and lattice felt and introducing you to the
wonders of Nuno. Using a variety of different materials,
you will produce samples of all these types of felt as well
as explore how to use them further and create a neck
warmer to take home.

To reserve your place on any of the workshops, please, call into the shop or
telephone 01449 741 530 or email us at [email protected] . Full payment within
10 days of booking to secure your place on the workshop needed.
Cancellation with 2 weeks notice - we will refund your payment or offer you a
place on a future workshop.
Cancellations within 13 - 8 days of the workshop – we will refund 50% of the
payment.
Last minute cancellations, ie. 7 days or less before a workshop – we’re afraid we
cannot refund any payments as from experience we’ve found it impossible to
fill places at such short notice.
Full refund for cancelation under 14 days possible if we replace you.
Thank you for understanding with these formalities.
A requirement list will be given at the time of booking. The cost of
supplies and fabrics are not included in the cost of workshop unless
stated. If you purchase your supplies for the workshop at OliVen you
will receive 5% discount.
