Airflo – innovation
Yes, doesn’t time fly when your having fun developing
a range of award winning flylines....in fact its more like
a blur.
Being the only manufacturer to use Polyurethane
coatings, developments have come thick and fast at
Airflo. So much so, that each day at work is like being a
relative ‘kid in a sweet shop’.
Sound scientific principles have given us Ridge
Technology, Total Density Compensation and Power
Core, each development taking flyline technology to
new levels.

Polyleaders, welded loops and more recently our
unique line marking system are all examples of how we
try to make your time on the water more effective and
ultimately more enjoyable.
This is no accident, far from it, rather the result of many
lifetimes on the water embraced into a Polymer of the
future and not a plastic from the past.
So next time your ‘out there’, rest assured that we are
‘out there’ too.

The Airflo
100% PVC Free
Airflo
Technology
The original ‘PVC Free’ Polymer coated flylines, we at Airflo utilizes
solvent free Polyurethane as the base material for all our flylines.
When we originally researched our coating technology over 20 years
ago, we wanted the best possible flyline material full stop. A coating
that would be stronger than our competitors, could resist DEET and
ultimately fight off the long term effects of UV. Polyurethane provided
us with this and much, much more.
At that stage the, impact of plastics on the
environment wasn’t high on the angling
publics agenda. However, in these
enlightened times, we are more than
pleased to be ‘PVC Free’
AIRFLO, the leader in ‘PVC Free’ flyline
technology.
Ridge Flyline –
reduced surface area
for minimal friction
The concept is simplicity itself - it’s unique ridged
design reduces the surface area in contact with the rod
guides, consequently friction levels are vastly improved
compared to any regular round flyline. Incredibly tough
for long term durability.
Flyline Climate Control
Even though all our lines are made from same base material, Polyurethane, not all our flyline
coatings are the same. In fact, they come in a variety of grades or ‘hardness’ which helps
determine how the line will perform in a variety of temperatures.
We choose coatings that best suit the environment, in which they will be used, each having its
own merits and optimum temperature range in which they best perform.
To help you establish which type of line you require, we have developed a temperature chart that
highlights the ‘working’ temperature band for each of our flylines. Look out for the temperature
logo throughout the catalogue.
4
Ultra Supple
– Optimum
Temperature range –
-5ºC to 26ºC
Standard
– Optimum
Temperature range –
5ºC to 30ºC
New for 2010, our Ultra Supple
coating represents a major breakthrough in
flyline performance. The low modulas coating
maintains its suppleness even in extreme cold
conditions and reduces memory to zero. Found
mainly in our latest Ridge Supple range of trout
lines, the same coating has also been used for our
Two Hand shooting head range to help maintain
needle sharp loops even on the coldest of days.
Despite the name, there’s
nothing standard about our super tough
Polyurethane coating. With higher energy
and slight stiffness for longer casts, we use
this polymer on most of our long casting
lines, like Forty Plus and the new Ridge
Rangefinder. Striper lines also benefit
from this coating in high summer and help
maintain distance without any tangles.
www.airflofishing.com
Tropical – Optimum
Temperature range –
20ºC to 38ºC
Designed to perform at the
higher end of the temperature
scale, our Tropical coating doesn’t wilt
and tangle even when you’re feeling the
heat. However, with polyurethane working
across a wider temperature band than other
coatings, a quick stretch and this coating
works well at the lower end of the Saltwater
temperature scale. You find this coating used
on our Bonefish, Tarpon and GT lines.
Whats my Line?
Our unique permanent line marker system is
welded into our factory fitted loops for easy
identification on many of our shooting heads
and our latest Ridge Clear flylines.
Each label clearly shows the lines weight
and density – so, no more searching for that
colour chart or having to put your lines on
the scales.
Yet another example of our innovative
solutions to every day angling problems.

Ridge Clear
Ridge Clear
When it comes to your regular flyline, we think that we’ve got you well
and truly covered – with our unique Ridge Supple technology, Sixth
Sense cores, density compensation and the complete range of tapers
available, we feel our offering is pretty comprehensive.
It would appear not – after 25 years of making flylines, we always
find those anglers who want just that little bit more, yes, you know
who you are... the guys who spend every waking hour plotting
their next cast, tying perfect imitations of the fish’s food and just
think like... fish!
Pro’s told us they wanted a line to do everything our regular lines
do, only they wanted it clear, oh yes, Crystal Clear... The ultimate
stealth line that would not spook fish, would shoot well, handle
superbly and remain supple even in cold crystal clear water.
Making a line that’s invisible in water and casts like a dream has never been a
problem for our clear intermediate lines, but even these have been improved
as part of this process.
Why Ridge our Clear
Flylines?
In our experience, ridging the coating allows us to make more supple
flylines without any reduction in casting performance.
Unlike some coating techniques, the ridges run along the lines full length
and flow well through the rod guides with a minimum of noise, indicating
just how little friction is actually
being generated.
Our unique ridged coating
reduce s surface friction for
improved shootability.
It also helps reduce tangles
with less ‘line cling’ than
regular flylines.
Airflo – the original
PVC free flyline.
6
www.airflofishing.com
A few tweaks to the coating and the addition of Ridges, has certainly given our
intermediate lines some additional zing, significant improvements you would
expect in both casting performance and line handling from our forward
thinking technology.
Clear Floating
When it came to the Clear Floater, not everything was quite that
straightforward – think about it, most clear lines exhibit an inherent stiffness to
the coating and whilst this is deemed acceptable in a tropical environment, the
ability to make a line that would remain supple and perform well in cold water
conditions had so far eluded most.
Taking our unique knowledge of advanced polymer coatings, we’ve created
a new blend in coating technology, a development that finally allowed us to
make a clear floating line that remains supple, stable and easy to handle across
a wide range of climatic conditions... result!
Ridge Clear are probably the most supple clear lines on the market today and
due to their tough PU/PE coatings will not crack and delaminate, giving you
a choice of floating, slow intermediate (0.5ips) and fast intermediate (1.5ips)
lines for cold water use.
Whilst discussion on line colour, or lack of it will prevail for years to come...
finally for those of you who want to prove the point, this is your line.

Sixth Sense
Why Choose Sixth Sense?
Stretch in a flyline is a key element in how it performs in casting, line control,
take detection and hook set. Ultimately if you reduce the stretch, you improve
all of these factors and have a superior performing flyline.
In recent years, the Bass guys may have borrowed the idea of a low stretch
fishing line from us with their obsession for latest super braid lines, but with our
Sixth Sense range of flylines we’re taking the concept back for the flyfisher.
Think regular flyline, think mono…think Airflo Power core flylines, think super
braid…it’s as simple as that.
Tournament casters have long appreciated the lack of stretch in their flyline.
It allows them to make smoother, more consistent casts and help reduce that
annoying tip bounce associated with high energy casting.
Sensitivity & hook set
With only 6% stretch, our Power Core braid
improves casting control, sensitivity and hook set –
pretty impressive stuff.
6th Sense
However, it’s not just at long distance where the advantage of a smooth accurate
delivery is appreciated. Line control on running water is enhanced, as the line
behaves more positively to the slightest movement of the rod tip – think improved
mending and controlled dead drift presentations.
When it comes to Stillwater fishing, the sensitivity of a low stretch line is
breathtaking and many of our Pro’s have commented that they can feel every little
tap or bump on the fly and have significantly increased the ratio of fish hooked to
actual hits on the fly.
Sixth Sense lines have just 6% stretch compared with the 20% plus you find in
regular flylines…less stretch equals more fish.
Discover your Sixth Sense.

Sixth Sense Floating
Sixth Sense Intermediate
Being the first company to develop non stretch lines two decades ago, its
fair to say that while the concept was always the ‘Holy Grail’, early product
had its teething problems.
The benefits of ultra low stretch lines are clear – smoother casting
performance, positive hook sets, quicker lift off and improved mending
control – reasons enough not to give up on this radical concept.
Using our Power Core braid, Sixth Sense flylines combine TDC technology
with our old favourite ‘Delta Taper’ to create a range of zero memory
lines, that cast and fish like a dream.
Give a new feel to your fly fishing with Airflo Sixth Sense.
Why would you possibly need three intermediate sink rates is a question
the un-initiated often ask.
In Stillwater, finding the fishes feeding level is one of the critical factors
in successfully outwitting our target. The ability to keep a fly at the fishes
feeding level for longer during each retrieve just elevates your chances
of success.
On slow retrieves this is even more critical, throw in a couple of fly
grabbing weed beds for good measure and the ability to hang your fly
above them without snagging the cabbage is a godsend.
Our new line marker system helps you fish with even more finesse in this
invisible subsurface world.

Why are there so many sinking lines?
Gone are the days of fishing ‘the floater or the sinker’, today
we are faced with a multitude of options when it comes to
sink rates which, when used correctly can help improve our
catch rate in both fresh and saltwater.
Stillwater fly fishers have long realised that fly depth is critical
to success and the ability to retrieve your fly at the correct
level is a combination of flyline sink rate versus speed of
retrieve - the slower the retrieve the slower the sink rate
required to maintain a given depth.
Airflo manufacture a full range of sink rates from 0.5” per
sec to 8” per sec to ensure you are able to hit that depth
consistently even when conditions change.
The originators of Density Compensation, Airflo sinking
lines sink tip first for direct contact with your fly, combined
with low stretch Power cores give you the ultimate sinking
line that give you a real feel for what’s happening below the
surface.
Using tungsten coatings and a unique method of controlling
sink rates (to ensure a non-overlapping sink rate system i.e a DI3 will sink at 3” per second regardless of line size.
Airflo, without doubt the masters of sinking line technology.

As true masters of sinking line technology, remember we’re the guys who
created density compensation, low stretch cores and a standardised sink
rate system. So its no surprise that we’ve taken this cutting edge range of
lines that little step further.
Knowing how much line your have left in the water at any one time is one
of the keys to successful sunk line fishing and with our new ‘hang marker’
system, you’ll have colour coded marks on your line that easily tell you how
much is still down there.
Sunk line fish just got a whole lot easier.

A perfect line for those new to the sport or just getting back into it.
The Velocity has been further improved for 2011 with the addition of a useful
loading zone indicator on the rear taper that allows you to easily visualise
when you have the optimum amount of line outside the tip ring.
With its user friendly taper design, the long rear taper allows the line to grow
with you as you improve and increase your casting range.

There’s always someone who wants to cast even further – for those guys
we developed Forty Plus Expert – its like the Forty Plus…just longer!
By increasing the head length, whilst maintaining the same head weight the
whole cast is smoother, allowing expert casters to carry more line in the
loop and with a little effort, send a fly to the next county.
The use of Power Core, helps reduce energy loss and smoothes out
wobbles that ultra high line speed can put into regular ‘stretchy’ lines.
Ridge running lines reduce tangles and improve shootability.

When helping students and friends increase their casting
distance I emphasize two key factors. The first key to improved
distance casting is to increase line speed and second is to
narrow the loop size. If you can do both you will certainly cast
farther and increase your ability to cast in windy conditions.
Below are a few tips you might try to improve your casting
distance.
See you out there.

Tim Rajeff.
• Drift back on your final back cast. By drifting (tilting back) your
rod while your final back cast is straightening out you will
increase your potential stroke length on your forward
delivery cast.
• Drive your hand in a straight line on your final forward cast.
Like a javelin thrower a good caster ”tracks” perfectly when
making their final forward cast.
• Use an aggressive wrist snap. Using the same biomechanics
baseball pitchers do, use your wrist snap at the end of your
stroke to achieved maximum casting speed.
• Step into the cast. The best casters in the world move their
center of gravity the most by stepping into the cast. Don’t try
this when standing sideways in your canoe!!
• Use an aggressive double haul. A strong double haul can add
incredible distance to your cast. Don’t forget to use the same
wrist snap on your line hand that you used on your rod hand.

Every year there are more new spey lines on the market that compare
themselves to Airflo’s Delta Spey. When Dec Hogan first got together
with Tim Rajeff to create the Delta Spey lines, a friendship was formed
between a hardcore casting/gear geek and a man who thinks like a
steelhead (sometimes he even smells like one). This friendship brought on
the development of the most popular spey line that two hands have ever
touched. With its 52’ to 56’ head length and a smooth forward taper, Delta
Spey lines can punch through the wind when other lines fail. New for
2011 is an inbuilt line marker that allows you to easily see the optimum
loading point.

Delta Spey Long
Two Hand Multi-tips
While skirts and spey rods have gotten shorter over the years, a few
anglers still want the advantages of a longer line. Airflo’s Delta Spey Long
lines have the same smooth feel of their shorter cousins. Longer lines
allow for longer casts and help eliminate the need to strip line in between
casts. Long lines can help you cover the water more effectively and help
eliminate ice in the guides on those days when you should be in a sauna
instead of on the river. Still one of Dec Hogan’s favourite lines, the Delta
Spey Long comes in regular or Multi-Tip versions.
Six hours drive to your favourite steelhead river, don’t know what the
weather gods will throw at you – advice will say take a multi tip – however,
make sure you take one that will cast like a dream and has a ‘bullet proof’
looping system that won’t let you down.
Our unique, flexible Power Loop combines the internal core with our proprietary polyurethane coating to create the strongest, most supple loops
on the market.
Each Spey Multi Tip comes with four 15’ tip sections - floating to sink rates
up to 8” per second – for complete versatility every tip section has smooth
welded tip loops that easily connect PolyLeaders for improved turnover
and accurate depth control.

Keeping Spey Casting Simple
Scandi Compact
It was while managing a camp on the Yokanga River,
on Russia’s Kola Peninsula, that I was first introduced to
shooting heads and underhand casting by some of my
Scandinavian friends and guests. These short, compact and
aggressive heads didn’t require a lot of room for D- loop,
loaded the rod quickly and shot far much easier than the
long belly lines I used on the Ponoi River. Even more
importantly, they were unsurpassed in managing the
right speed and angle of presentation in faster and more
complex currents of steeper gradient northern rivers.
When I came home and began to fish the rivers of
the Pacific Northwest, I quickly adapted to fishing for
steelhead with heavy sink tip Skagit heads. I missed casting
the floating Scandi heads and couldn’t help but wonder
if it were possible to adapt a “Skagit” floating line for
summer steelhead fishing. I wanted this floating line to be
as easy to cast as my sink tip Skagit head and I wanted it to
work well with the sustained anchor casts.
Just when I started experimenting with some of the
shooting heads I brought back from Russia, I met John
Hazel who was already pioneering shooting head fishing
on the Deschutes River in Oregon.
After some more fishing, and the occasional glass of
scotch, my time with John helped spawn the family of
Airflo Scandi Compact lines. Unlike traditional Scandi lines
I wanted the Scandi Compact shooting heads to weight
as much as the floating part of my Skagit head. This way
while using water loaded casts I was able to achieve the
same easy deep load and the same high line speed as I
do with my Skagit head. Confusing? On the contrary, this
new line system will allow you to use the same amount
of weight to load the rod regardless of which type of line
you are using. Give it a try…
Mariusz Wroblewski
Skagit Compact
Being a steelhead guide, I test my gear to its limits on a
daily basis. I’ve come to realize there are many Spey lines
that perform great on a casting pond but fail miserably in
real life fishing situations. The proving ground for me is
Oregon’s Deschutes River.
On the Deschutes, we deal with tight casting conditions,
relentless wind, tough wading, extreme temperatures, and
long days. If a fly line can perform on the “Lower D”, it can
get the job done anywhere.
When we designed the Skagit Compact shooting head, we
had one goal in mind… Build a fly line the average angler
could cast in real fishing situations. We wanted to build a
fishing tool. After numerous prototypes and a bunch of
cut up fly lines, we came up with a Spey line that loads the
rod without effort. More so, it’s compact design turns over
huge flies and heavy sink-tips in tight casting conditions
with ease. For sink-tip work in bright sun or cold-water
conditions, the Skagit Compact is the weapon of choice.
During the low light periods when floating lines really
shine, we simply loop off our Skagit head from our running
line and replace it with the Scandi Compact shooting head
and a Poly Leader. The Scandi is perfect for presenting
smaller wet flies and dry flies when fishing near the surface.
It’s longer front taper delivers smooth, beautiful casts while
still allowing the caster to feel the rod load. It’s the perfect
compliment to the Skagit Compact.
For me, it has become a fishing system. I have one reel,
one shooting line, and different shooting heads for
specialized fishing situations.
Tom Larimer
How to connect Airflo Shooting heads
1. Its so easy to connect our
pre-looped shooting heads and
running lines you can change
heads in seconds.
2. Just insert the oversize loop
on your running line into the
small welded loop on the butt
of your flyline..
3. Now take the whole shooting
head coil through the running
lines’ oversize loop.
4. Pull the junction tight and
then wind the head onto your
reel - easy.
For complete versatility, just add a Polyleader to the loop in the tip of your shooting head – see page 30 for connection details.

www.airflofishing.com
Skagit Compact
Try casting 15’ of lead core on the end of your regular Spey line and you’ll
quickly find its not up to the job – enter the Airflo Skagit Compact.
Skagit lines were originally developed by the steelhead rats of the Pacific
North West to get flies in front of fish regardless of environment. These
short high power heads have the ability to make a cast in tight confined
spaces, which often means the difference between success and failure.
Perfected under the watchful eye of Tom Larimer, you can understand how
excited we are about the Skagit Compact.
Tom guides the mighty rivers of Oregon and Washington, so required a
series of lines that allowed his clients to quickly get the hang of fishing heavy
level sink tips and big articulated flies.
As with any line the shorter the head the more critical the weight. By refining
the taper and length of the Skagit Compacts from 23 to 27 feet depending
on head weight. We’ve created 12 models from 360 to 720 grains in
30 grain increments that ensure you’ll be able to find the perfect match for
your favourite rod.
So, just add a running line, a sink tip and your good to go.

you to create a perfectly balanced outfit.
These heads have made casting so easy it isn’t fair to those who had to
learn with a conventional long belly line. Whether it’s steep banks or the
tough winds ripping up the canyon, Scandi Compact helps anglers of any
skill level cast like a pro in no time.

For people who use fast action rods and shorter “underhand” casting
strokes, Airflo created a family of Scandinavian shooting heads.
Incorporating extended front tapers, this focuses the majority of the
head weight close to the rod tip, helping you throw long tight loops.
Scandinavian heads are at home when fishing modest size flies on short to
long rods.
Scandinavian heads require a long leader to help to establish an effective
anchor during the cast—we recommend the use of a 14’ Airflo Polyleader
or an extra long mono leader.
Ridged Tactical Running lines, MRM or Miracle Braid Running lines all work
well with Scandi heads.

Running Line
Extreme cold weather requires a running line that will behave well enough
to maintain ones sanity – lets face it, most of us who fish on days when the
line ices up in the guides are pretty crazy anyway.
The incredibly sensitive Power Core will help feel takes even when your
joints stiffen from the ice forming on your bunting gloves.
Our new Ridge Ultra Supple cold weather polyurethane coating reduces
tangles, improves shootabilty and keeps you in the game on the coldest
of days.

The perfect compliment to any shooting head, Ridge technology comes to
the fore on our running lines.
Reduced surface friction not only increases distance, but also helps
reduce tangles - loose coils of line slide over each other easily to eliminate
snarl ups.
A low stretch Power core and an oversized ‘Flexi loop’ complete what we
consider to be the ultimate running line for shooting heads.

Taper, coating and core combine in complete harmony to make this the
most exciting bonefish flyline on the market today.
It goes without saying the advantages Ridge coatings give in this high
octane environment - shootability when you need it and a complete lack
of tangles – all combine to lower blood pressure and extend your life
expectancy by years.
An extended rear taper acts as a buffer zone on longer casts, allowing you
to aerialise more line without collapse and the Power core allows you to set
hooks even at hero range.

Ridge Tarpon
Ridge GT
The thought of setting 4/0 hooks into galvanised buckets with a flyline that
wouldn’t act like a bungy cord has always appealed - the reality was even
better than we had hoped.
Combining Power Core with our Ridge coatings didn’t disappoint, a line that
casts like a bomb, with hooking power that quickly puts you in control.
Ridges in the coating reduced ‘hi speed tangles’ – the ridged surface easily
sliding over itself as the running line whipped up from the deck.
When we were first asked to develop this line, we asked ourselves
why anyone would need a 50lb test core in a flyline, our testers in the
Seychelles said they just did.
The ‘hit and hold’ style of GT fishing on a reef edge is fast and furious,
putting a flyline under extreme pressure as you try to stop these ‘bad
boys’ of the salt trying to disappear with your flyline.
Ridge GT came through the test without any issue’s – proving the strength
of our welded loops beyond any doubt.

There’s no more challenging environment for a flyline than Saltwater and
pretenders in this arena are quickly found out.
Forty Plus Sniper is no ordinary flyline – our unique Polyurethane coating
makes it quite literally ‘tough as old boots’ and more than man enough to
meet the task.
Designed for firing long casts with a quick loading head section, combined
with a virtually tangle free, low memory ‘Power Core’ running line that helps
you feel the slightest fin movement of any striper that dares look at your fly.

There’s a difference between cold and really cold… especially when your
flyline starts misbehaving.
The original environment where fly fisher’s started to appreciate the benefits
of polyurethane coatings – an unrelenting toughness and unbelievable
suppleness in the coldest conditions made the original a firm favourite with
east coast striper fishers.
Improved by the inclusion of Power Cores, memory is reduced to zero
and the uncanny ability to set hooks at long range helps you catch even
more fish.
The classic Crystal Clear mono core Intermediate line has changed little since
its origin and returns to do battle.

Upgraded to a one part flyline (the welds gone!!) our big game version of
the Depthfinder is built on a 50lb test Power core for maximum strength.
The high density tungsten coated head gets your flies deep, while the low
stretch allows you to set oversize hooks with ease, even at extreme range.
Its extra long 150’ length allows you to exert full pressure earlier in the
fight – helping tip balance in your favour for a change.
Big fish require ‘BIG’ flylines, our Big Game version of the Depthfinder
combines a 50lb test braided Power Core with the highest density heads
on the market.

Polyleaders
What is a
Polyleader?
In a perfect world, flylines would have a continuous taper,
finishing in tippet diameter – in the real world we do things a little
differently.
Take your regular tapered Mono leader and examine the stiffness
of the butt section against the suppleness in the tip of your
average flyline – big difference. You’ll find the butt of the mono
leader much stiffer and less likely to transfer energy efficiently to
your fly.
Polyleaders are constructed a little differently, a level core
provides the strength, coated with a tapered Polymer outer layer
that provides mass and controls density.
Utilising the same materials as our flylines, Polyleaders exhibit a
similar level of suppleness, giving excellent energy transfer for
smoother more accurate presentations.
Easily changed with our original welded micro loops, Polyleaders
come in a variety of densities, lengths and breaking strains to
cope with just about anything you’d care to throw a fly at.
HOW to Use Polyleaders
Polyleaders come in lengths from 4’ to 15’and everything in
between – Using a loop to loop connection, loop the butt of the
Polyleader to the loop on the tip on your flyline. Then just add
tippet to the mono loop at the tip of the leader, tie on your fly
and go fish.
What breaking strains do they come in?
Polyleaders are available in a full range of breaking strains to suit
the species they’re designed for.

What densities are available?
Everything from Floating, Intermediate, through a wide variety of
sinking models are available – Choose the density you require
based on the depth you’d like your fly to fish. Remember in faster
currents a faster sinking leader will be require to hold the same
depth and in slower flows you should choose slower sinking
models to hit the same depth.
PolyLeader Sink Rates Choose the
density required to control the
sinking speed of your fly
Floating
Hover – Sinks 78 sec/m, 0.5 in/sec.
Intermediate – Sinks 26 sec/m, 1.5 in/sec.
Slow Sink – Sinks 15 sec/m, 2.6 in/sec.
Fast Sink – Sinks 10 sec/m, 3.9 in/sec.
Super Fast Sink – Sinks 8 sec/m, 4.9 in/sec.
Ex. Super Fast Sink – Sinks at 6.5 sec/m, 6.1 in/sec.
Trout
Sea Trout/Steelhead
Light Trout
From casting on a turbulent stream to searching
the depths of your local lake this range of leaders
covers the full spectrum of trout fishing situations.
Smoothly tapered to give easy turn over of dries,
nymphs and streamers these leaders open up
many new techniques not only with a floating line
but with sinking lines as well. The 10’ version is
particularly useful on stillwaters and larger rivers.
Max. tippet 12lb available in 5’, 8’ and 10’ lengths.
Designed with greater suppleness and shock
absorption for use on light lines. Floating, hover
and intermediate leaders ensure the most delicate
of presentations to spooky fish in lakes and spring
creeks whilst the sinking versions allow nymphs
to be fished at depth without adding weight to the
fly or shot to the tippet. The 8’ models keeps the
shadow of the line even further from the fly.
Max. tippet 8lb available in 5’ and 8’ lengths.
Developed for the big Scandinavian Sea-Trout, this
leader is equally at home for big steelhead when
getting your fly into ‘the slot’ is essential.
The shorter 8’ length has been preferred by
anglers fishing lighter line sizes and single hand
rods, yet still require the heavy breaking strain
leaders required to land these fish in difficult
conditions.
Max. tippet 24lb–40lb available in 8’ length.

René Harrop
Yellowstone is arguably the centre of the
trout fishing universe, and it is here just
outside it’s eastern boundary that Rene’
has spent his entire life. Within a half day
drive from home on the Henry’s Fork lie
legendary rivers like the Madison, FireHole,
Beaverhead, Missouri, Big Hole, Yellowstone,
and the Snake. Having been a fly fisherman
from the age of nine, Rene’ has spent nearly
forty of his sixty plus as a professional tyer,
river guide, writer, and artist.
Dec Hogan
Dec began fishing with a two-handed rods
before modern lines and rods were popular.
He quickly became a master of the Spey cast
and continues to be at the forefront of new
casting techniques and equipment. Dec’s
recent book on Steelhead fishing techniques
“A passion for Steelhead” is one of the top of
books on steelhead fishing.

brands. Rene has a Masters degree with

number of casting and fly tying instructors
certificates. When he’s not fishing Rene
runs Manic Tackle Project, New Zealand’s
leading fly tackle distributors.
Tim became a hardened fly fisherman at the age
of 10, fishing for trout in Northern California.
Following in the footsteps of a famous brother
Tim became a champion caster at a young
age. Perhaps it is his engineering background
and analytic mind or the years of competition
where casts over 200 feet are common that
drive Tim to push equipment design to the
extreme, Tim is the North American distributor
for Airflo and contributes to design of many
Airflo’s products.

the Ridge line. Masa writes on all aspects of
flyfishing for the major magazines in Japan.
In his role as Airflo Sales Director,

sure our lines perform in their intended
environments - tough job. A Stillwater
