4th & 5th July, 2015
PRESIDENT’S
Central Wyong v The Entrance
Watanobbi Oval
MESSAGE
2015
Wyong v Kincumber
Morry Breen Oval
It has certainly been an interesting week in
Umina v Northern Lakes
rugby league on the Central Coast, much
of which has been due to the inclement
Col Gooley Field
weather.
Berkeley Vale v Terrigal
Berkeley Vale Oval
At all times the Executive and Management
Ourimbah v Erina
have worked within the guidelines set down
Sohier Park
within the By Laws.
Toukley v Woy Woy
Unfortunately some of these rules may
Central Coast
Community Bank
branches
Darren Kennedy Oval
be left open to different interpretations
depending on a particular view held by
R
different individuals.
We of the Management believe that any
decision made is in the best interest of the
entire competition and the clubs within the
Division.
Regards,
Joe Smith
CCDRL President

CENTRAL COAST 4 x 4 WRECKERS FIRST GRADE: The most pleasing part of
our 28-26 win over a plucky Central side is we showed the courage to come from
behind (more than once). Winning “ugly” is something we’ve struggled to do in the
past and this result proves we are continuing to grow as a team. This sets us up for a huge game against Wyong who we look forward to tackling this week.

in there and making us pay for our wrong options and just dumb play, when we had
the chance to finish our opposition off. Tries this week went to Dylan with Trav kicking 1. Award winners this week: Tyler

CENTRAL COAST OZ TAG LADIES TAG- Rd 10: Toughest game of the season so far. But the girls came out on top
in a close 14-12 win over Berkeley Vale, saving a few tries before we got one on the board in the first half. They also
tested our line few times. In a restricted role with a torn quad, Lisa was running the ruck area and making a few breaks
herself, leading into a second try to have us 10-0 up. Tara was unlucky not to get a few tries chasing some good kicks
from Molly. With a poor completion rate in the second half putting pressure on us and they got us on the back foot and
got through under the posts for 10-6. We knuckled down and came up with another try for 14-6 and then Berkeley got
another in the last 2 minutes to make it 14-12. A great tester for us as we look forward to a bye then the second half of
the season. Players player was Lisa with 2 points and 1 points went to Molly, Rachel, Tara and Pete. Great work girls...
PLATEAU TREES U/19’s – Rd 10: The Plateau Tree Services U/19’s took on Berkeley Vale who hadn’t played a few
weeks and both sides were grateful the game went ahead. Although we were sloppy in attack trying to score points before winning the middle we went into halftime up 28 - 0 and returned to be more polished finishing the match strong 56-0
winners. Our On Constructions spine dominated with our fullback Cpt. Bryce bagging a hat-trick and the refs points,
other meat pies went to Jake Hardman who had a ripping 2nd term, Bruce Terare, Gus Steele, Mitch Clark as well as
forwards Ben Thomas, Tyler Dubidge and Will Grassby. Our highlight was a zero score-line which is seldom achieved &
we’re very proud of these defensive efforts. Thanks to Mitch, Durbo & Will for backing up in the reggies, a huge day on
the paddock. Today we take on Central Wyong for the 1st time as we are looking forward digging deep with 9 players
out through injury, suspension & other commitments.

Sharks NEWS
Due to the state of the field the Sharks matches against Woy Woy had to be
abandoned after the first half of the Under Nineteens match. Apologies to the
Woy Woy club and all involved with the Sharks a potential fine from Council
and possible injuries to players the decision had to be made.
For all who missed here is the writeup from the previous week:
The Sharks hosted the Toukley Hawks with both sides coming away with two wins apiece with the
Sharks winning the all important first grade match which could have seen them slip from second to
eighth spot.
The Sharks Open Age were well defeated by the Hawks but the number of injuries sustained by the
players who are unable to train due to GCC closing Duffys Road and not being able to do the right
preparation had a lot to contribute. Seven players were lost during the game, with two players gone for
the season, The Sharks were best served by hooker Cameron Smith, who also received the Players
Player award, who got through a mountain of work in the middle and kept battling, Tom Spackman got
the two points and made plenty of meters with ball, while the one point went to Josh Rodier who ran and
defended strongly out wide. The Coaches Award went to Rod Cantwell, who tried his hardest and had
his best game with the club
The Sharks Ladies League Tag side were too strong for the Toukley Hawks in a ten tries to nil victory.
The Sharks played some free flowing football and when required made the important tags to keep the
Hawks scoreless. Best for the Sharks was Brittany Starr who organised the attack and crossed for two
tries as well as kicking eight from ten. The two points went to Shannon Higgins who crossed for a try
and gave good service to her supports, while the one point went to Paige Goodhand who made some
vital saves and made plenty of meters. The Players Player was shared between Chloe Lee, who ran
strongly and Maddison Symington who crossed for a hat trick. Maddi also received the Coaches award.
The Sharks Reserves side crossed for an early try through Connor Wales and converted by Mitch Johnson but that was the end of their scoring as the Hawks crossed twice before halftime to lead 10 - 6 at
the break. The second half was scoreless as the game went from end to end with neither side able to
cross. Best for the Sharks and Players Player was Adam McAlister who puts 110% into each game, the
two points and Coaches Award went to Tyler Johnson who tackled and ran strongly out wide while the
one point went to Jarrett Boland who added some enthusiasm to the team.
The Sharks first grade side recorded a strong 16 - 8 win despite being kept scoreless in the second half.
The Sharks dominated the first half and scored three tries while keeping the opposition to a lone try and
then defended resolutely for the remainder of the match. The three points went to Kane Byrne who got
through a heap of work and helped to inspire his team mates, the two points went to Bladen Baird who
again had a phenomenal work rate, while the one point was shared between scheming half Matt Sharp
and tough as teak front rower Jordan Deaves who also received the Coaches Award. The Players Player
award went to Lachlan Strong who made plenty of big hits and ran strongly.

CENTRAL WYONG
Razorbacks NEWS
Our 1st grade after imploding last week against Ourimbah by allowing two late
tries in the final 10 minutes to come away with a 36 all draw, last week’s local
derby against the 2nd place Toukley side could be the sign that things are about
to click with 2 of our front rowers in Luke Young and Sean Gilmore unavailable through
injury, our forwards could be excused if they had come off 2nd best against a big Toukley pack given the workload Youngy gets through each week alone.
However, with captain Aja Roberts running strongly and Les Kahn running great lines and giving Toukley’s left
edge nightmares, this gave both our halves plenty of time to run their edge with Dylan Smith controlling the right
side and Daniel Janiseen controlling the left, man of the moment Timmy Williams had time to roam from side
to side scoring 2 great tries. Our backrowers and centres running the lines we have been working on over the
last month, it looks as though we may be starting to gel.
With Toukley scoring the match winner with 4 minutes to go and hitting a 26-24 lead, from the kick off our boys

Magpies NEWS
Last week the weather played havoc with our preparation at the beautiful Sohier
Park with the playing surface deemed not fit for play late Saturday afternoon and
the game being called off. Today we travel down to Rogers Park where we play
the Woy Woy Roosters and we as a Club are looking forward to this challenge in all grades. Traditionally this clash is always played with plenty of spirit, today we hope
to build in confidence and build on our last efforts & results.
A special mention to one of our Club’s favourite sons, Nathan Hardman. After Dr’s orders has decided
to hang up the boots once and for all due to a nasty injury suffered in the game against Berkeley Vale.
Hard’s will certainly be missed by his team mates . Nathan is a true gentleman off the field and the best
defender on it . All opposing sides will be glad they don’t have to suffer the big hits by Hards. Everybody
involved with the Club wish him well & thank him for his efforts on and off the field for Ourimbah.
This year our proud Club is in the process of installing and completing a retractable fencing project
around the main oval here at Sohier Park, over the coming week the first signs of construction will be taking place and will be completed before the end of the footy season, there are some wonderful & exciting
opportunities for any businesses wishing to advertise on the retractable fence for 2016 and beyond with
ten metre sections on offer for individual sponsorships, for now please see either Mick Trembath (0408
863 663) or Glenn Pudsey (0408 437 988) for any enquiries or information.
Everyone is welcome to attend our after match presentations held at the Tall Timbers Hotel from 5pm
with refreshments and excellent meals available, so please bring your families and all kids are more than
welcome to attend. The club will be doing raffles at the hotel on Friday afternoons 4pm to 6pm so please
support our raffle and the hotel.

1st Grade – B.Vale 24 - Warriors 10
Another beautiful day for footy but unfortunately we were outplayed by a better side on the day. Berkeley
Vale set up a handy lead by 1/2 time and despite a fight back in the 2nd half we came up short on the day.
Tries – Shaan & Byrnesy. Goals Ovey x 1.
Shaan and Ovey both continued their good recent form whilst Byrnesy, Skilli & Wyatt all made strong contributions. All the best guys - Emil Zatopek.
2nd Grade – B.Vale 46 - Warriors 0
Another steep learning curve for the boys. Again there were signs of promise but concentration let us down
again. Mitch, John Limburg, Fletch & Danos performed well on the day. Speedy recovery to Bulge who suffered a arm injury during the match. Congrats to John Limburg for the ‘Keep the Faith’ shirt, well deserved.
Heads Up - Roger Bannister
Ladies – B.Vale 44 - Warriorettes 4.
The ladies were in the match early but the Pantherettes proved to strong on the day and ran out deserved
winners. Lauren Mcauley was strong again and scored a good try whilst Alexandra, Makenzie, Kiara, Sara
& Wendy all played well. If the girls can maintain their enthusiasm and enjoyment levels, the only way is up.
Go the Warriorettes
Thanks – Marjorie Jackson
Opens – Warriors 16 – Panthers 14
Yet again a thrilling game of footy in the open grade clash. The Panthers took an early lead before the Warriors fought back to take (we thought) a comfortable 16-6 lead late into the game. However the Panthers
finished strongly scoring a couple of quick tries in the dying minutes, the pressure was put on their kicker
with the siren sounding whilst lining up the conversion and much to the Warriors joy the attempt sailed wide
enabling us to go home with the 2 points. Johnno and Diez lead the way up front. Nick, Millsy and Mitch
all had good games. Good to see the Rinn brothers keeping the scoreboard attendants busy. There are
promising signs for the team and hopefully we can build some momentum in the coming weeks.
Best Wishes to Luke Fenech who suffered a worrying injury during the game, unfortunately this will now be
his last game of footy, but we look forward to him helping out in other ways.
Tries; Dillon Rinn, Luke Rinn & Shaneo. Goals Millsy x 2.
Happy Running - Abebe Bikila.

REPORT ROUND 10 V WYONG
Ladies League Tag
Once again the girls put the opposition to the sword with a very classy display
of fine attacking skills. The squad of girls show an array of talent and commitment
each week and with the ability to create opportunities for each other they are going to be a force to be
reckoned with at the business end of the season.
Keep up the spectacle ladies!
Reserve Grade
The scoreboard was no indication of the game with our guys being in the battle for a long while once
again. Unfortunately due to injuries once again, the Roos were able to finish the game stronger and ran
out winners on the day. Another fine display of comradare was on notice throughout....winner’s in many
eyes...top effort guys!
First’s Grade
Wow..talk about a war of attrition...the Bunnies took it to the Roos early in the game with some determined defense and enterprising attack...the lead seesawed between both and on occasions it seemed
to be anyone’s game only for the Bunnies to come out on top in what was nothing short of a courageous
display by all of the players....Down to only twelve for the last ten minutes of the game it was very rewarding to get the two points.
Every player who took the field in all games as well as those who are injured deserve a mention for their
commitment to the Bunnies.
Thanks to you All......

800klm Ride from Bangkok to Khao Lak
to raise money for
Hands Across the Water
Friends, Family and Workmates,
The Hands Across the Water Southern Ride from Bangkok to Khao Lak will be the maiden voyage of
Team Big Dogs on Bikes. Born in follow up from last year’s team Mad Mums on Bikes, these young
at heart, incredibly handsome group of 4 Dads have joined forces to challenge themselves but more
importantly raise much needed funds for the Hands Across the Water charity.
Team Riders include:
Keiron ‘Uncle Fish’ Herring (C) Dave ‘Potzy’ McLean
Kieren ‘Mango’ Moore
Nick ’Nicko’ Gregory
What is Hands Across the Water you ask?
In a nutshell, Hands Across the Water was born 10 years ago as a result of the 2004 Boxing Day
Tsunami that destroyed Phuket and left thousands dead and hundreds of thousands of people
homeless. The founder Peter Baines OAM, came across 32 orphaned children in a tent whilst he was
working as part of the NSW Police taskforce who were deployed to help identify those who had lost their
lives. He was deeply touched by the number of children left homeless and alone by the natural disaster
and as a result was inspired to establish an organisation that could make a real difference. Initially the
charity was created to build a home and support these 32 children but over the last 10 years the charity
has grown to support more than 100 children in that one single orphanage they built and they have now
gone on to build other homes and refuges for children with HIV, boys who are forced into gang life and
drugs and children rescued from the slums. See the link www.handacrossthewater.com.au for more info.
We are now over the halfway mark and have only 6 months to go to reach our target of $40,000! We
would love to have you all involved in some shape or form!
