Matt and Christi Reed Mark and Susan Maxey Blake Greer Could you have been the lucky one? New Drawing Format! Up to FIVE draws! Ok, here is how it works…. Beginning in June, instead of two drawings per Family Night we will have up-to FIVE drawings per night depending on how large the pot has grown. Each successive drawing of the night will be reduced by $100. For example, if the pot is at $500, the first drawing is for $500, the second drawing is for $400, third is $300, Fourth drawing is $200. The fifth and last drawing is for $100. We will continue to grow the pot with $50 per week anytime the pot is under $500. Another example would be if the pot is at $250, then the first drawing would be $250, the second drawing would be $150, and the last drawing would be for $50. If no one wins, we will increase the pot by $50 for next week. Figuring out the odds on this would take a Las Vegas Shark, but one thing is for sure, we will have MORE WINNERS! 1st name: $500 Howard Bailey 2nd name: $400 Lindsay Johnson 3rd name: $300 Michael Richardson 4th name: $200 Roy Grandbery 5th name: $100 Mark Yearwood NO WINNER July 6th 1st name: $500 Rick Rodriguez 2nd name: $400 Lennie Medlock 3rd name: $300 Rodney Huffaker 4th name: $200 Randy Richardson 5th name: $100 Harvey Lutrick NO WINNER July 13th 1st name: $500 Kirk Knowles 2nd name: $400 Allen Teinert 3rd name: $300 Bryan Howard 4th name: $200 Jon Henson 5th name: $100 Kenneth Patterson NO WINNER June 20th 1st name: $500 Clayton Swan 2nd name: $400 Kristen Munson 3rd name: $300 Tommy Thrash 4th name: $200 Jimmy Foerster 5th name: $100 Richard Dixon NO WINNER June 27th 1st name: $500 Lenny Medlock 2nd name: $400 Mark Anderson 3rd name: $300 J. Otherwise, the member cannot make application to the club for a period of one calendar year from the time that their membership is terminated and only then if the account has been paid in-full. Accounting Office Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm I know it's been really hot and busy in the last few weeks but hasn't it been great. Tournaments in full swing, summer vacations, swimming pool and rain dancing. Every year at this time we look to the one cloud in the sky and hope it is the early arrival for the rain for the evening. Nothing like a good West Texas thunderstorm. I know it can bring in the bad stuff but it is music to sleep by in this little mind. For those not taking advantage of the pool you are truly missing out. We have had our grandkids out several times and it is wonderfully refreshing after golf. Sometimes the man even puts on a swimming suit. He thought he would get out of it because his suit was worn out...fooled him. Bought him another one. The guards are nice, the area is clean and maintained. Lots of fun! South Plains got under way at the Crest. We are tied with (ugh) Lakeridge with five points. I thought I wrote down who got points but cannot find it. Sometimers! The next South Plains will be at Shadowhills at 8:30 on the 9th of August. September will be at Reese on the 6th, the day after our Ladies Labor Day scramble on September 5th. The business July business meeting we early ordered some neck coolers for the next Silver Tees tournament. Good thinking! The next meeting will be on the 16th of August right after play that morning. Works out right about lunchtime. How nice is that! See you there! Last bit of news is to keep in mind the Ladies Club Championship will be on the 17th and 18th of September. Mark it on your calendars. Thanks for being you Golf Course Update The Month of July has brought back memories of 2011 and 2012, 100 degree day after 100 degree day. There has been little relief and not much rain fall. The non- irrigated areas are just dry to the bone and the irrigated areas are stressed to the max. As mentioned many times in the past, to get the necessary amount of water down on the course each and every day, we need to start watering before it gets dark. Usually not before 7pm but if we don’t get some relief we may need to start even earlier. A couple of 85 degree days and a couple of small rain events would help out a great deal, but August is usually the driest of the summer months and it is not uncommon to go the whole month of August without rain. Greetings Tennis Players, This months newsletter touches on a player's mindset and how to view things on court. Author Jackie Reardon terms this "friendly eyes". It is important to make the effort in training sessions and matches to look at the way you are playing with friendly eyes. As soon as you notice you are starting to beat yourself up and are becoming irritated with your game, look at your actions without judging them (with friendly eyes). That means accepting that you can't do more than your best and that every action is part of a learning process. You know that the learning process will help you progress, which means that every action successful or not) is part of your development. This acceptance alone induces a better match mentality. If you continually pay attention to this, you will notice a dramatic change in your attitude. Playing with friendly eyes is not something you can learn in a week, but you will notice a steady improvement over time. Try it!!! Also, Hillcrest is hosting a junior tournament, part of the Junior Tennis Circuit, on Sat, Aug 6th. Contact the pro shop for more information.
