Canadian Freightways CASE STUDY IMPROVING THE ACCURACY AND EFFICIENCY OF DELIVERY SERVICES THE CHALLENGE Canadian Freightways is a supply-chain solution provider specializing in seamless freight services across North America. With over 1,200 employees in over 30 locations, Canadian Freightways is always looking to streamline processes and improve customer service. The company turned to Rogers to help them create a wireless solution to track and manage their truck fleet, provide its line haul drivers with electronic logs, and manage pickups and deliveries in real time. ABOUT CANADIAN FREIGHTWAYS THE SOLUTION Rogers worked with Canadian Freightways to deploy an end-to-end solution. This fully integrated communication system connects their line haul and pick-up and delivery (P&D) processes to central servers. A telematic device enabling electronic driver logs and monitoring vehicle health, idle time, gas consumption, location and driving behaviour was installed in each line haul truck. Based in Calgary, Alberta, Canadian Freightways has been serving Canadians since 1935. They belong to The Reliance Network, an exclusive partnership with North American carriers devoted to ensuring seamless service across the continent. IN THEIR OWN WORDS Canadian Freightways also provided their P&D fleet with 300 wireless handheld devices. These devices allow drivers to easily manage electronically dispatched freight deliveries and pickup requests. The devices also collect customer signatures which, along with other delivery information, create electronic Delivery Receipts that are sent instantly to its central servers. This means customers can track their shipments in real time on the Canadian Freightways web portal. BENEFITS Al Kersch CIO Canadian Freightways § Streamlined communications.
