NORTH IOWA 2012 SCHEDULE
There have been rumors that spring is coming, but
last night, all I could hear was the laughter of the
Frost Giants as they dumped six inches of snow on
Woodbine! While this has been comparatively, a
"nice" winter, we are all anxious for the travel trailer
season to arrive. I incautiously left the huge Trailer
Life campground book out where Marijane could look
at it. Guess what.....we're going to Bailey's Park in
Door County, Wisconsin in July! Friend Fritz Stunek
assures me it is a great place to visit and that we will
really enjoy it.
June 29—July 4: WBCCI International Rally
Sedalia, MO
See info/registration in Blue Beret or online at wbcci.org
He says that you can stand on the dock and watch big
salmon swimming around. Marijane is busily looking
up recipes for preparing salmon for the table!

ATTENTION CARAVANERS!
It is advisable, desirable, and sometimes downright necessary to have a CB radio in your vehicle
when caravanning. Why? Just ask Kathy Allen!
Those currently on the list for the caravan are:
Ted & Norena Holmen, John & Carol Heckman,
Roger & Mary Pape, Fred & Ann Marcalus, Dan &
Marijane Bamberry, Scott & Kathy Allen, and
Dave & Pat Shaw. Scott & Jodi Jensen hope to
join us for the weekend then send us on our
merry way!
The stork will arrive
to members of our
North Iowa Unit
July of 2012.
C Bs are often used to stay in touch with each other as
we travel the highways and byways. It is also a good
way to communicate any problems or interesting
points of interest. It certainly aids in knowing where
your leader will be taking you! So…..if you plan on
doing caravanning, we strongly urge you to have one
before the Region 8 Rally.
Proud parents-to-be
Jeff & Jeanette
Peterson
Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers—
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours—
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through!
FEBRUARY WINTER LUNCHEON
—-Marijane Bamberry
On February 18, 1012, we had a very nice luncheon at the Chef’s Kitchen in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. We had a good
attendance with twenty-three people present. John and Carol Heckman, David and Pat Shaw, Dan and Marijane Bamberry, Jeff and Jeanette Peterson, Fred Marcalus, Chuck and Marjorie Wadsley, John and Marion
Wyman, Scott and Jodi Jensen and Taylor, Ron and LuAnn Eide, Doris Porter, Scott and Kathy Allen, and Jim
and Rosalie Macumber were in attendance.
It was good to see everybody again! Our December luncheon was cancelled because of a big snow storm.
There were several birthdays in February, so everybody was recognized and we sang happy birthday.
Dave Shaw, our caravan leader, gave us a rundown on where we would be meeting for our caravan to
Springfield, Missouri, for the Region 8 Rally. It sounds like fun Dave and thanks for the hard work. So far we
have six units going on the caravan. Others are invited to come along. The caravan plans are located in this
newsletter.
The Region 8 church service was discussed, and I believe we are ready to go on that. Our collection money
will go to the Wounded Warriors Charity.
We discussed the Constitutional Amendment proposed by the Denver Colorado Unit and that was carried by
8 yes votes.
Our next event will be the Region 8 Rally in Springfield, Missouri. We’ll see you down the road.
FROM THE KITCHEN OF MARIJANE BAMBERRY
APPLE MUFFINS
1 1/2 C. vegetable oil
3 C. flour
2 C. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp.. salt
2 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
3 C. chopped apples, fresh
Beat together oil, sugar, vanilla and eggs. Gradually add flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Fold in apples. Fill greased muffin tins, or use paper cups. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Makes approximately
36 muffins. (Optional: sprinkle mixture of sugar, nuts and cinnamon on top before baking)
These are better if they set for a few hours so the apple flavor can get through them... (Dan ate a whole
batch one at a time) Also these do not puff up like a lot of muffins--so yummy!!!!!!
