Transportation
Coast RTA is operated with a dedicated staff that is quite proud
of their accomplishments and contributions to the community.
The company operates vehicles ranging from 18-passenger to
40-passenger buses and presently services seven fixed routes. In
addition the company provides Paratransit services and limited
contract services. Coast RTA is pleased to provide its transportation
service to and from Myrtle Beach International Airport. Service to the
Myrtle Beach International Airport has been incorporated into Coast
RTA’s Route 10. From the Ivory Wilson Transfer Station, passengers can
access various hotels along North Ocean Blvd (15 North) or South Ocean Blvd (15 South); or, any of Coast RTA’s other routes.

Education
Horry County Schools is inspiring possibilities for student success through a broad range of unique teaching and
learning opportunities. The countywide school district encompasses 51 schools in the nine attendance areas of
Myrtle Beach, Carolina Forest, Conway, Socastee, North Myrtle Beach, Loris, Aynor, Green Sea Floyds and St. James.
Horry County Schools, with more than 42,000 students, is South Carolina’s third largest school district. HCS uses an
innovative computer-based testing program for grades 2-10 with tests in mathematics, language, and reading. It also
provides results quickly to enable teachers to monitor instruction and address student needs. Also, a laptop initiative
for teachers promotes 21st Century learning in the classroom.
Healthcare
Grand Strand Health is a multi-facility health system located on the coast of the Grand Strand community and has facilities
throughout the Grand Strand to provide quality, convenient health care. Grand Strand Medical Center is a 301-bed acute
care hospital serving residents of Horry and surrounding counties. The hospital offers the only cardiac surgery program,
neurosurgery program and pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) in Horry and Georgetown counties and is a designated Level
II trauma center by DHEC and the American College of Surgeons. Grand Strand Medical Center is recognized by the Joint
Commission, a leading accreditor of healthcare organizations in the United States, for our sepsis program and as a top
performer in key quality measures for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care.
