“Fun”-Raiser for the
Redlands Conservancy’s
Emerald Necklace Projects
What is it?
Parties for the Necklace offers a variety of parties,
events, and activities for the Redlands Conservancy’s
supporters to enjoy. Anyone can purchase a reservation
to any of the parties which are scheduled throughout
the current Party year. The Parties are fully
underwritten by individuals, groups, or businesses, and
the money raised goes to support the Redlands
Conservancy’s Emerald Necklace projects and programs.
How Parties for the Necklace works
The 2015-16 Parties for the Necklace catalog contains descriptions
of parties and events that we invite you to explore. Make your
reservations at the Parties for the Necklace Kickoff Event,
Wednesday, April 22, 7-8:30 at the Mitten Building. Beginning
April 23, all reservations will be available at EventBrite.com. Type
“Redlands Conservancy” into the search box for a listing of all our
parties and events. Click the “DATE” button to see a listing in date
order.
Reservations at EventBrite.com after April 22
Reservations are accepted and filled in the order received until the
reservations are sold out. You will receive your tickets from
EventBrite.com. For some events, a waitlist may be offered if the
party sells out. If space becomes available, you will be contacted.
Reservations at EventBrite.com after April 22
If you are unable to attend the party, you may exchange your
reservation for another party with two weeks’ advance notice, give
it to a friend, or make a donation to the Redlands Conservancy. If
the event is postponed, and you cannot attend the new date, you
may receive a refund if you wish. If the party is cancelled, you will
receive a full refund. Call (909) 389-7810 for any of the above.
What does
Parties for the Necklace support?
Redlands Conservancy’s mission is to preserve Redlands’ historic
built environment and conserve its irreplaceable natural and
agricultural environment. The Conservancy’s Emerald Necklace
programs concentrate on the natural and agricultural environment,
including major programs:
1. Trails ~ Redlands Heritage Trails Alliance and Trails at 10
Series of Trail Excursions.
2. Public Outreach and Education ~ Presentations at events and
meetings, exhibits at events, the Annual Kids' Day Outdoors,
interpretive experiences on the Conservancy's holdings, Outdoor
Docent program, and Sunday Outdoor Fun Days.
3. Holdings Management ~ The Redlands Conservancy holds more
than 550 acres in permanent conservation. These lands, especially
the San Timoteo Nature Sanctuary and Live Oak Canyon
properties, require management to guarantee the protection of the
conservation values.
4. Land and Easement Acquisition.
5. Outdoor Docent Program - Training and supplying volunteer
outdoor docents who "rove" the Emerald Necklace sites to enhance
the users' enjoyment.
6. And the Emerald Necklace Trail and Scenic Tour, itself!
Developed with the 1987 Park and Open Space Plan, the Emerald
Necklace is a series of culturally or historically significant natural
and agricultural open spaces, now connected by a Trail and Scenic
Route for motorists and bicyclists to enjoy.
Party #1:
Succulent Succulents
No need to settle for a bare dirt yard, even with the drought.
Party hosts will help us celebrate the quixotic exotic succulent.
The Make-and-Take party, with expert succulent gardener Myra
Patterson, will teach us how to select, grow, care for and use
succulents to create a fascinating garden in a time of drought or
anytime. Myra will host the party at her home so we will see just
how fabulous succulents can be, and she'll show us how to use
succulents for wreaths, decorative wall hangings and customized
planters. Sip iced tea and munch on cookies while we make our own
miniature succulent garden.

Redlands and a former Marine, has come back to town and is
bringing a new dimension to our culinary and beverage community.
At his own J. Riley Distillery, Jason (the J part of J. Riley) is
handcrafting spirits right here in Redlands. At this party, we will
be invited to tour the whiskey-making process and facilities and, of
course, taste the products as well. Like wine, whiskey has its
preferences for food-pairings, so we will also taste several
fabulous foods that work well. Your personal beverage expertise

Party #18: C'est France

The French really know how to eat well, so it's time for a "trip" to
France, sort-of, for a "Best of the French" gourmet dinner under
the sparkling lights at the historic Rossmont Drive home of Rollie
and Sally Moore, nestled deep in the spring-time scents of orange
blossoms. French Champagne (that's redundant, we know),
escargots, Tournedos Pompadour, Bananas Flambé, and more of fine
French cuisine will be on the menu for the long, leisurely evening,
with cafe music wafting in the background. This extraordinary
event will celebrate the French cuisine and style and their elegant
