SCHOLASTIC SHOOTING SPORTS FOUNDATION 914.&5*116+0)4'%4'#6+10#.%1/2.':Š52#46#+. 1 THANK YOU! THANKS TO THE generous support of people like Larry and Brenda Potterfield, the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation will be able to introduce the clay target sports and the pistol sports to more youth across the nation and give them the opportunity to participate in high-quality team-based competitions like SCTP and SPP. “Brenda and I are proud to partner with the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation to support getting more kids involved in shooting sports today,” said Larry Potterfield, Founder and CEO of MidwayUSA. “We strongly support initiatives like this because we believe we have an obligation to help change the future for the better.” 2 MEET THE POTTERFIELDS 67'5&#;(41/Ŗ2/ IN THE MAIN EVENTS BUILDING 2417&.;12'4#6'5 Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation 5931 Roft Road San Antonio, Texas 78253 210-448-8946 www.sssfonline.org If you have questions after reading this program, please contact: [email protected] 3 SCTP & SPP National Team Championships DIRECTOR’S LETTER Greetings to all athletes, parents, coaches, state advisors, and supporters! On behalf of the SSSF staff and Board of Directors, I am pleased to welcome everyone to the 2015 SSSF National Championships. We expect this year’s tournament to draw nearly 3,000 competitors, plus about 10,000 coaches, parents, grandparents, siblings, and other spectators during championship week. We are glad that YOU are part of it all! This event is the culmination and celebration of the hard work put forth all season by athletes, coaches, parents, and state advisors. We thank you all for the time, effort, and resources you put into the shooting sports. These contributions are vital in furthering the shooting sports as a youth development vehicle and in strengthening the Second Amendment rights of our country. There is so much to do at Nationals! For SCTP participants, we are again offering handicap trap, doubles trap, and doubles skeet, in addition to our standard events. For SPP participants, competition slots are open throughout the week. Several side events will also be available for all to enjoy, including Make-a-Break, Crazy Quail, a rimfire rifle demonstration stage at the pistol berm, and more. Coaches - be sure to register for the coaches’ shoot, and athletes won’t want to miss the world’s biggest “Annie Oakley shoot” (i.e., Last Competitor Standing) on Wednesday and Friday. There will be LOTS happening at the Main Events Building throughout the week. On Thursday, college representatives will be on hand to discuss education and shooting opportunities beyond high school. Friday is Conservation Day, when conservation organizations will be present to discuss how local chapters can help support your team. Looking for a new gun or shooting accessories? SSSF Nationals is your place to shop! The vendor mall at the WSRC will be buzzing with activity. Please take some time to stop in and see all of the vendors who have come to Sparta, to support and thank those who support the SCTP and SPP! Speaking of folks who support the youth shooting sports -- Larry and Brenda Potterfield are scheduled to be on site for a meet-and-greet on Tuesday, July 14 at the Main Events Building from 1:30 to 3:00. Please take the time to stop by to say hello and express your thanks for all the Potterfield family does to support Scholastic Clay Target Program and Scholastic Pistol Program teams. Please enjoy your time at our National Championships. We are glad you are here! Best of luck to all competitors – be safe and have fun! All participating athletes and coaches must be registered and fully paid with the SSSF before competing. Event registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. For SCTP, all reservations will be done electronically through the team login at www. sssfonline.org. For SPP, all participants must be registered and fully paid for the match before competing. Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. All reservations must be done by completing the Registration Form and sending to Tammy Mowry. If copies of the Registration Form are needed, please email Tammy Mowry ([email protected]). All ammunition and practice rounds are the responsibility of the participant. Alcohol/illegal or individually non-prescribed drugs and firearms do not mix. Alcohol and other illegal substances are strictly forbidden by the SSSF and World Shooting Recreational Complex during this event. Further, any person who is found to be in possession of, or under the influence of, alcohol or drugs while using, cleaning, maintaining, inspecting, or otherwise handling their shotgun or any other firearm at any time will be immediately disqualified from the entire event and asked to leave without refund. Safe gun handling and appropriate shooting attire are required. Flip-flops and opentoed shoes are prohibited. No tank tops, mid-drift tops or shorts above mid-thigh are allowed. Reprimands will be issued based on violation and could ultimately mean disqualification from the tournament. Hat shooting is strictly prohibited during competition. Once all competition has been completed, hat shooting may occur 1) ONLY after receiving permission from the tournament director or staff member and 2) under the supervision of a state advisor or coach. Any competitor who participates in hat shooting outside of both of these conditions will be immediately disqualified and asked to leave the competition without refund. All shooters must sign the score sheet (next to the score total) before leaving the range. Use of any tobacco product by anyone under the age of 18 is against Illinois State Law, and any use of tobacco product by an SCTP/SPP participant under the age of 18 is against SSSF guidelines. Participating in the use of tobacco products can be grounds for disqualification from the tournament. Any athlete or adult disqualified from the tournament will not receive a refund of any tournament fees, game fees, practice fees or any other funds paid to SSSF or it agents. 1-5 Place ties in the Individual Skeet & Trap events will be broken by long run back and then long run front. Sporting Clays ties will be broken by three pre-designated tiebreaker stations. SPP ties will be broken per rule book. If a tie occurs for final ranking, the In & Out stage score will be used as the tie-breaker. If that does not break the tie, the fastest single run of that stage will be used as the tie-breaker. If still needed, the second and third run will be used as the tie breaker. 41 ALL INDUSTRY OPENING CEREMONIES Wednesday 4:45pm Grandstands Food & Drink to follow Meet teams, coaches, industry and staff!
