Since our latest publication we have held Septemberfest, Ladies on the Loose, a Business Connection at Horcion Bank along with the Condon Companies, and as always plan for Dickens of a Christmas. First and foremost thanks to our Board of Directors and additional staff in Judi and Jolene here at the office. A lot of this is new to me, let me stress A LOT, and they have been there to lend a helping hand or an encouraging word to handle the tasks that are required for the Chamber of Commerce. While I have a moment, a big thanks to Craig Tebon from Ripon Main Street who has helped the Chamber of Commerce immensely in the last few months from things such as the move, to the advertising piece that you saw previously with the Little White Schoolhouse. As we get set for the Holiday Open House and subsequently Dickens of a Christmas I would like to thank all of our Chamber of Commerce members for their continued support and belief in what we do. As always we are here to help you in any way possible, and we certainly encourage your feedback and ideas. The Ripon Chamber of Commerce has become an entirely new entity in 2013 with added staff, new location, and new ideas. We can’t wait to see what is in store for 2014 and beyond. By the way I spent a decent portion of last Thursday planning and brainstorming ideas for Dickens in 2015 which will be the events 25th anniversary, so yes Dickens is always on our minds at the office. Thanks for your time and all the best. #riponwi PRESIDENT-ELECT Joan Karsten, CENTURY21 Properties Unlimited Joel Spaulding, Spaulding Chiropractic Health Center PAST PRESIDENT Bob Young, M&I Bank/BMO Harris TREASURER/SECRETARY Phyllis Nielsen, US Bank DIRECTORS TERMS EXPIRE 2014 Al Schraeder, Diverse Options, Inc. These new entrance signs will welcome visitors soon. Garrison Anderson: Hello! My name is Garrison Anderson and I am originally from Amery, WI. I am currently a sophomore at Ripon College majoring in Communication. Recently, I began an internship with the Ripon Chamber of Commerce. The internship is an exciting opportunity for me learning event planning and all that goes into putting on events like Dickens of a Christmas. Growing up in Amery, WI is a lot like growing up in Ripon, WI. Both places have that hometown community feel that makes you feel right at home. Therefore the transition from high school to college was a seamless one. Although I have only been in Ripon for what is now my second year, I have been able to become very involved in the College and Community. I have been able to do so through groups like: Ripon College’s Student Media and Activities Committee, Theta Chi Fraternity, as well volunteering opportunities with the college. In my internship so far I have written press releases, created flyers, and some general office work as well. I look forward to further involvement in planning Dickens of a Christmas because it is such a joyous time for both the community and the Chamber. This experience with the Chamber will prove valuable for me going forward after college with eventually planning to either enter the job market or attend graduate school. Karena Schroeder: My Name is Karena Schroeder and I am one of the interns at the Ripon Chamber of Commerce. I am currently a junior at Ripon College working towards a double major in Communication and Exercise Science, and a minor in Business Management. Around campus I am involved in varsity volleyball and track, as well as a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority and Ripon College panhellenic association. Being from Clintonville, Wisconsin, Ripon College is a perfect fit for me. It is just far enough to be on my own, but not too far that I don’t have the option to go home when needed. The size of both the town and the school are also ideal. In high school I was a member of student council, German club, and played five different varsity sports. I look forward to the experiences I will gain through working at the Ripon Chamber of Commerce. I am especially excited about helping out with Dickens of a Christmas this coming December. Congratulations to Diedrich Jewelers as they will be celebrating their 90th Anniversary.
