Pioneering independent network owner, GTC was the first to install SMART enabled
meters more than two years ahead of the governments 2014 mandated roll-out
programme. Installing the beneficial technology offers an energy saving product to
house builders who face escalating environmental challenges. Barratt Homes, amongst
the UK’s Top 3 house builders, was one of the first developers to benefit from SMART
meter installation on GTC’s independent utility network at Dukes Park.
Nestled between the market town of Bilston and Ocker Hill,
Dukes Park is a development providing homes to first time buyers
and growing families, with excellent local amenities including schools,
a leisure centre, shopping facilities and links to the existing nature
corridor. GTC is providing a full gas and electric utility infrastructure
network for Barratt Homes and is providing added value by installing
SMART enabled meters.
By taking advantage of GTC’s new product, Barratt Homes benefited
with credits towards its Codes for Sustainable Homes (CfSH) target.
Offering the house holder a way of being in control of their utility
usage, reducing fuel poverty along with the ecological impact on
the environment.
Graydon Worthing, Sales Director for Barratt
Homes West Midlands, says:
“We were very keen for GTC to install SMART
Meters in the new homes at Bilston and
other new developments. As with all GTC
project delivery, Dukes Park was completed
on time and on schedule. Being one of the
first companies to use this new product, we
were pleased that the process and installation
offered us the same seamless service.”
