Summary of Orbit Developments
Introduction
Orbit Developments – You’re in Safe Hands …
Orbit Developments is the commercial arm of The Emerson Group, one of the UK’s largest
privately owned property development companies.
Orbit Developments have been providing quality leasehold and
freehold office developments since 1970. Our extensive portfolio
predominantly includes office developments throughout the
Northwest of England. Our office portfolio is concentrated in towns
and cities such as Stockport, Macclesfield, Wilmslow, Manchester,
Bolton and the Southeast.
Orbit Developments’ substantial UK portfolio comprises
6,000,000 sq ft of space across more than 160 individual offices,
37 retail schemes, 39 industrial properties and over 2,000 tenants.
The foundations of our business are
traditional offices and industry and we
constantly seek out opportunities to develop, redevelop and
refurbish sites. This has led to the extension of and the
creation of business parks, stand alone offices, industrial and
distribution warehouses.
We take pride in leasing the appropriate accommodation to a spectrum of tenants from
start up businesses to HQs for international PLCs.
Once a tenant takes occupation all aspects of aftercare management for the tenant and
the property are provided by Emerson Management Services.
So make the move today and become part of our family!

Location
Aspirational, accessible, diverse and welcoming, Stockport stretches from the
borders of the Peak District and Cheshire plains to cosmopolitan Manchester.
Stockport is a place of contrasts, and offers a sense of balance and variety
that is virtually unique. It is a friendly, successful and fascinating place to
live – and do business.
Offering an exceptional workforce, prime location, wonderful
countryside, excellent education and health facilities, the
quality of life is sought after by many.
•
•
•
•
•
•
At the heart of South Manchester
A strong identity and entrepreneurial spirit
Major development programmes
45% greenbelt land yet on the doorstep of cosmopolitan centres
Surrounded by world class higher education facilities
Strategic location offering excellent access to regional, national and
international markets
• A robust and flourishing economy
• Excellent quality of living
Stockport provides the ideal environment for businesses
looking for attractive opportunities, established
support and the raw talent to make their
company a success.
One key attraction to the area has been the
strength of the economy. Stockport
Council and its partners have overseen
the creation of 1,200 new jobs and
safeguarded a further 1,000 in
the past 18 months alone.
This has led to higher than
average economic activity rates
for both men and women, both
above the regional and national
averages, allowing Stockport to
support high levels of
employment.
Competitive business costs make Stockport an
increasingly attractive option with staff costs
falling below regional and national levels.
An established range of business support and networking groups are also available in
Stockport to enable those investing in the area to maximise local business opportunities.
In short, Stockport’s economy and range of benefits associated with the area have helped
to make it increasingly favourable for businesses and entrepreneurs alike.

Key Facts
In 2005, Stockport Council launched the ‘Future Stockport’ Town Centre Masterplan, an
ambitious 10-15 year vision for the town centre. It concentrates on the transformation of
the town centre’s retail core, which sits at the heart of the area. The masterplan seeks
to unlock Stockport’s huge potential as a dynamic business, retail, leisure and residential
location through a major redevelopment programme which will see the investment of
approximately £500 million.
Key features of the Masterplan include:
• A shopping and leisure experience to match 21st century
lifestyles
• City-style living for 3,000 people – a new community of
more than 1,000 homes
• An ultra-modern transport interchange with improved links
between the bus and rail station and accommodating
Metrolink in the future
• High quality public spaces – including a new town ‘plaza’
at Mersey Square and a tree-lined St Peter’s Square
• A celebration of the source of the River Mersey

Rail
Situated Southeast of Manchester on the West Coast Main Line to
London Euston, Stockport station acts as a link to the national rail
network. Virgin Rail operates services every 20 minutes to London each
day and the modern Pendolino trains ensure journey times from
Stockport to London take less than 2 hours.
Trains into Manchester city centre run approximately every five minutes,
so travellers can take advantage of a rail network that acts as the main
link between England, Wales and Scotland, and that runs from London
to Glasgow via Birmingham and Manchester.
Main train stations all within a 10-minute drive:
