Robertson holds three degrees: AAS in Law Enforcement (Highest Honors) from Sinclair Community College, a BS in Management/Human Resources (Magna Cum Laude) from Wright State University, and a MA in Security Studies (Homeland Security and Defense) from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA. He is a graduate of Northwestern's Police Staff/ Command School, the F.B.I. National Academy (session 233) and Ohio's Police Executive Leadership College. He is past training chairman and polygraph unit supervisor for the Tactical Crime Suppression Unit, and in 2013 served as TCSU’s chairman. Chief Robertson is a member of the Montgomery County Association of Chiefs of Police, the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. He is a trained Hostage Negotiator and Public Information Officer. Chief Robertson was the top graduate from The National Training Center of Polygraph Science (1988). He served as vice-president, president and chairman of: The Academy of Certified Polygraphists; The American Association of Police Polygraphists (AAPP); and The Ohio Association of Polygraph Examiners. He is currently Chairman of the AAPP and was elected to an unprecedented four terms by its membership. He has received numerous awards from these organizations. As Accreditation Manager, he obtained initial Accreditation for his Department (now a Meritorious/Flagship Agency) and serves as an Team Leader/Assessor with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. and in 2013 was recognized by CALEA as a top Law Enforcement Leader. As a state certified instructor he teaches: Interview/Interrogation; Internal Affairs; Mindful Listening; Narrowing Interviews; Pre-employment Hiring Practices; and numerous other courses. His articles have been published nationally, he has instructed courses throughout the United States.
