XXOO Love, Mom, Dad, and Jenna The CPHS Theatre Department has dedicated the 2013-2014 season to honor Eugene “Pops" Hack Master Carpenter 1935 - 2013 Pops' work with the CPHS Theatre Department started after a large set piece crashed in the middle of a performance of Damn Yankees in March 2002. His daughter offered Pops' services to help repair the scenery and I gladly accepted. That’s how our relationship with Pops began – Pops helping us. The following year he helped with a prop or detailed piece of scenery. Pops' work was amazing and we all knew he was exceptionally talented and would only improve the productions here. During his time as master carpenter, Pops fully created scenery for 11 plays and 11 musicals. While all of his scenery was impressive, some highlights included the sets for Noises Off, Rumors, Les Miserables, and Fiddler on the Roof. Pops' influence went way beyond his construction talents. The actors enjoyed having Pops and his lovely wife Jo front row center leading the standing ovation at the end of every performance. While his talents in set construction could never be replaced, it’s his charm, dedication, and friendship that will be missed the most. A tree has been planted in Pops' honor on the northwest side of the building near entrance W-5. Kit Degenhart, Director WHO WILL YOU BECOME?
