Antonino is geboren in Palermo. Toen hij acht jaar was begon hij reeds in het atelier van zijn vader met het smeden van ijzer. Hij ging vooral aan de slag met ‘zacht’ ijzer, dat dankzij zijn plooi- baarheid gemakkelijker werkbaar was. Voor Serax ontwierp hij een exclusieve collectie voor een bredere markt. De bijzettafeltjes en ijzeren schalen hebben de uitstraling van sculpturen en door hun artisanale afwerking (geschilderd met de borstel, geboend) behouden ze de ziel die Antonino erin wilde leggen. Ze zijn perfect integreerbaar in tal van interieurs door hun zuivere vormen en de ’vintage’ getinte look en afwerking. Antonino est né à Palerme. Il avait à peine huit ans lorsqu’il commença à forger le fer dans l’atelier de son père. En raison de sa flexibilité, le fer doux devint son matériau de prédilection. À la demande de Serax, il créa une collection exclusive destinée à un marché plus étendu. Les tables d’appoint et les plats en fer évoquent la beauté de sculptures dont l’âme insufflée par l’artiste demeure préservée grâce à leur finition artisanale (peinte à la brosse et ensuite astiquée). Les formes épurées, ainsi que la finition et l’aspect « vintage » de cette collection font que cette dernière s’intègre aisément dans bon nombre d’intérieurs. 02 03 STORY Antonino was born in Palermo. When he was just eight years old, he began to forge iron in his father’s studio. He particularly worked with ‘soft’ iron, which is relatively pliable and thus easier to work with. For Serax, he has designed an exclusive collection for a broader market. The side tables and iron bowls give off the feel of sculptures, and through their artistic finishing touches (painted with brushes and polished), they preserve the soul that Antonino aimed to give them. They will perfectly suit countless interiors thanks to their pure forms and ‘vintage’ tinted look and finish. Antonino è nato a Palermo. Già all’età di otto anni ha iniziato a praticare la forgiatura del ferro presso il laboratorio del padre, lavorando principalmente con ferro “dolce”, più agevole da forgiare grazie alla sua malleabilità. Ha creato per Serax una collezione esclusiva per un mercato più ampio. La copertura e i pannelli laterali hanno l’aspetto di sculture, e grazie alla finitura artigianale (verniciatura a spazzola e lucidatura) conservano lo spirito che Antonino ha voluto imprimere. Sono perfettamente integrabili nella maggior parte degli arredamenti d’interno, con le loro forme pure e il look in colori e finiture “vintage”.
