This was an inspired touch from the Form VI students who all looked very well in their ‘glad rags’. “Guitar Hero” “All creatures great and small!” Julian Power channels his inner Lenny Kravitz while performing on Prize day. “Hooray for Hollywood” Nick Daly had the unique opportunity of examining an anaesthetised cheetah during his work experience at the Gilabbey Veterinary Clinic. See article p. 29. “Present Arms!” Members of Form IV made a short film under the direction of Ms. Linehan. They won the Audience Choice Award at the First Cut! Youth Film Festival. 42 Former members of Ms. McKillop’s horticulture module giving her a crossed spade salute! This was taken just prior to the tree planting at the Form VI farewell ceremony. “The Old Dog for the Hard Road!” “Do they know it’s Christmas time? ” These Form IV pupils were participating in the Christmas Fair but Owen McIlreavy on the right seemed bewildered by the whole business! “Let them eat cake!” Our new D-P, Mr. Kevin Stanley “togged off ” for the Portobello team to help make up numbers during the rugby tour in Scotland. This will probably not be the last time he risks life and limb for the good of the school! See article p. 52. “Whisky Galore!” Rather than Marie Antoinette, here we have Ciaran Lydon and Ms. Henry baking German macaroons to feed the masses. Fiona Quinn sports an impressive peacock’s tail of Jameson labels as part of her Junk Kouture ensemble. See article p. 32. “Gimme Shell-ter!” “The Paper Chase!” Members of the Form IV horticulture module visiting the Shell Gallery during a trip to Ballymaloe House. These members of Form IV were delighted when they received their Junior Cert results this September. Aiga Adler, far right, is especially pleased since she never sat the exam in the first place! 43 “Blood Brothers” “Purple Haze!” This was a scene worthy of Woodstock as pupils got involved in the Holifest fundraiser for the Hope Foundation. Ed and Sean Hayes (in black not purple!), performed in “Blood Brothers” but were not cast on the basis of being actual brothers! See article p. 20. “The Three Wise Men” “On the Straight and Barrow!” ge the on Sports Day one pair seemed to chan While most people stuck to the rules wheelbarrow race into a relay race. “Model Students!” Barry Kenneally, Eric Scully and Rob Stafford were dressed to impress as they tried to persuade Santa to invest in their Mini-Company project! See article p. 31. “High on the Hog!” Here we see Ms. Cronin, Mr. Morrissey (junior), Ms. Power, Mr. Callender, Ms. Serret and Mr. Baker modelling dressed as students during the Fashion Show in Fota. See article p. 50. Mr. Rory Graham, the school chef, tending to the roast pig on Sports Day. 44 “The Potter not the Clay!” “In Flanders Field” Julian Power is shown in a poignant moment visiting the war grave of his Great Granduncle during the recent History tour. See article p. 55. Weekend boarders at Crafty Hands Pottery learning how to make various ornaments and realising it is not as easy as it looks. See article p. 51. “Elfie Selfie?” “Rock the Boat” Form IV students on the ferry to Heir Island, clearly the excitement was too much for some people! See article p. 29. A blinding array of Christmas jumpers were on display at the Christmas Fair. “Band of Budders!” This picture shows the staff and students that played in the testimonial soccer match in honour of Bud Morrissey’s retirement. Bud managed the student team which played in the West Ham strip while Mr. Nugent managed the staff in the Waterford colours. Fortunately for us Mr. O’Neill proved to be a very biased referee!
