Seal-Jet Norge AS –
Authorized Distributor of
GORETM Sealant Technologies
Seal-Jet Norge AS has an extensive experience with gaskets and sealing solutions and as
Authorized Distributor of GORETM Sealant Technologies we are able to combine our know-how
with state-of-the-art gasket products.
Safety
GORE™ sealants and gaskets give greater safety
in service due to greater blow-out resistance and
superior resistance to creep and cold-flow, retains
stress and requires minimum or no retorque.
Covering the whole pH-range GORE™ sealants and
gaskets protects you against use of a wrong gasket.
Lower overall costs
Superior sealing reliability and longer gasket life
due to extraordinary creep resistance give you, the
user, the benefit of increased mean time between
overhaul (MTBO). Lower your total overall costs
with reduced gasket inventory, short lead times,
easy handling and quick installation.
Competent and dedicated personnel
Seal-Jet Norge AS is well known as a dedicated
partner in the Norwegian sealing market since
1989. Our strategy is to work in close cooperation
with our customers and be their preferred business
partner for the best technical solutions available.
Together with W. L. GORE & Associates we will
strengthen our position in the market with superior
products and technical expertise for the benefit of
our customers.
Standardization
There are no other sealants and gaskets who offer
a wider range of standardization than GORE™
sealants and gaskets. Instead of a broad variety
of different qualities on stock, GORE™ sealants
and gaskets should be your new superior standard.
This will reduce the risk of personnel injuries as a
result of installing a wrong gasket.
W. L. GORE & Associates is the world's leading supplier of expanded PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene)
components used in the transport and sealing of industrial fluids. Made from 100 percent expanded PTFE,
GORE™ gaskets are suitable for use throughout the entire pH range, except molten alkali metals and
elemental fluorine. These gaskets withstand temperatures from -268°C to 315°C (-450°F to 600°F),
making them ideal for both high temperature and cryogenic applications.

Gasket for large diameter flanges
GORE Joint Sealant DF withstands temperatures from -240 °C to
+270 °C, seals internal pressures from full vacuum to 40 bar and
is unaffected by most chemicals (except molten alkali metals and
elemental fluorine). It’s ideal for cryogenic applications and is
FDA/USDA-suitable for use in food processing and pharmaceutical
industries. You can use it just about anywhere. And, it lasts indefinitely, when used within its operating parameters.

Installation
GORE Gasket Tape DB can be easily cut using scissors. For
tapes with adhesive, clean the flange, make sure it is dry and
free of grease. Remove the adhesive backing paper, apply the
tape and finish in front of a bolt hole overlapping the ends by
at least 1 cm. For thicknesses over 1 mm and for pressure
applications use an angled cut.

The gasket tape has an adhesive backing strip for easy installation.
The sealing surfaces must be thoroughly clean to ensure optimum
adhesion and to prevent the tape from coming into contact with oil
or grease before it has been compressed.
The end of the gasket tape is cut using the skiving technique shown
in the figure below. Then, starting next to a bolt hole, the tape is
laid round the middle of the sealing surface. The other end is
placed over the skived end and any excess cut off at an angle so
that at the overlap the total thickness is approximately 120 % of the
original gasket thickness.

In the case of tongue and groove joints we recommend that the
entire width of the groove is covered.
For steel applications we recommend the use of 3 mm thick GORE

GASKET TAPE
Typical properties**
Installation
• AD code of practice B7
k0 * kD = 24.5 * bD
k1
= 2.5 * bD
The gasket tape has an adhesive strip for easy installation.
To ensure optimum adhesion, the sealing surfaces must be totally
free of grease and other residue.
• DIN 28090
Minimum stress-to-seal
The end of the gasket tape is cut using the skiving technique
shown in the figure below. The tape is then fitted round the circumference of the flange. The other end is placed over the skived end
and any excess cut off at an angle so that at the overlap the total
thickness is approximately 120 % of the original gasket thickness.

The gasket width selected should be such that after installation
the inside of the gasket tape ends roughly in line with the inside of
the equipment. Along the outside diameter of the flange the tape
should protrude at least 3 mm.
For equipment measuring up to 800 mm in diameter, we recommend 6 mm thick GORE Series 600 gasket tape and for even larger equipment 9 mm thick gasket tape. If any irregularities are > 1
mm, the 9 mm thickness must always be used and then shimmed.
In the case of irregularities over 1 mm, every additional millimetre
of irregularity needs to be compensated using 3 mm thick tape.

Torquing
The torque values recommended by the manufacturer of the glasslined equipment should be observed at all times. We recommend
retorquing once after the first temperature cycle. Retorquing should
be carried out at room temperature only!
Should you require more detailed information we would advise
you to look at our separate installation instructions.
Quality assurance
The GORE Quality Management System has
been certified by DQS in accordance with
DIN EN ISO 9001. Component suppliers are
also integrated into this system.
