LOOK WHO HAD A FACELIFT AT 59!!
As The Country Friends prepares to turn 60 next year, we realized it was time to pretty ourselves
up! The wonderful and talented Marci Cavanaugh spearheaded the task of giving our logo a
facelift, and what an amazing task she did. Through a collaborative labor of love, we created a
Branding Committee that consisted of Shana Witkin, Rhonda Tryon, Deb Cross, Donna Ahlstrom,
and Suzanne Newman. Led by the amazing Lucia Lento of Drop Dead Design, whose creative
inspiration breathed life into the ideas that these incredible ladies presented, the stellar outcome will inspire another 60 years of greatness. Thank you, everyone — our gratitude is endless!

“For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, more than things, have to be restored, renewed,
revived, reclaimed, and redeemed.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand,
you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands,
one for helping yourself and the other for helping others.”
- Sam Levenson
Who Is that Gorgeous Gal
in the Country Friends Shop
with a Million Dollar Smile?
Meet Yvette Letourneau.
How long have you been a member?
I have been a member since September 2009 when I attended the Art of
Fashion Show. I had never heard of The Country Friends before that event,
and it was like love at first sight for me. I wanted to be part of the group of
women all working together to raise money for San Diego based charities,
and I made it a goal to learn more and get involved.

When did you begin working at the shop and what is your role?
I started working at the shop in July, 2012. My role is to assist Jean Newman,
Consignment Manager, in all daily functions, and I like to think of myself as
a wing-girl, a support person, a backup, a team player.

What is most exciting about your time at the shop,
and what inspires you most about going to work?
Where do I start? I am inspired by the volunteers who give their time,
support and helpful hands to the shop. Their stories are inspiring, their
eyes have seen a lot. I love to hear them laugh. I love walking in the shop
and knowing today is a new day, thankful it’s a special place for many, and
a resource to help others. I enjoy seeing the regular customers, knowing
they feel welcomed to come back so often. I enjoy a coach, someone who
challenges me to raise the bar, to always give my best and I feel I have one
in Jean Newman. In my 10 years at TaylorMade Golf, I quickly learned there
is no ‘I’ in team. Jean Newman embodies the same philosophy which is why
the shop is so successful.
What is something about yourself (hobby) you think
someone would be surprised to know about you?
My true loves are my husband, Jeff, and our two boys Brett and Mike. You
can also call me a miles junkie because I love running. Like in running, I see
life as mile markers, the significance of reflecting at every mile (moment) in
time. Here’s a quote to sum up my passion for running. “There is something
magical about running; after a certain distance, it transcends the body.
Then a bit further, it transcends the mind. A bit further...what you have before
you, laid bare, is the soul.”
– Kristen Armstrong
