Charles Seivers Blvd., Clinton. The Chamber is pleased to welcome Ryan Howley, President of Techmer PM, the recipient of a recent visit from President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. After touring a portion of the facility, the President made a major announcement about the creation of a $250 million manufacturing innovation hub aimed at strengthening U.S. leadership in next-generation com- posite materials. Techmer PM, LLC, is a major producer of value-added masterbatch and engineered compounds for the plastics and fiber industries. The company manufactures and sells masterbatch under its Techmer PM brand and engineered thermoplastic compounds through its Techmer ES subsidiary. The company has worldwide manufacturing capabilities focusing on high-performance applications where quality, technical support, and problem solving are critical. Coalition of Excellence Award for the Milestones category. Roane State Community College will use a nearly $1 million state grant to expand its mechatronics program and to pilot offering the program’s first year as dual credit courses for high school students. The mechatronics program trains students to become technicians who operate, maintain and repair high-tech automated manufacturing systems. Roane State offers a one-year certificate in mechatronics. Through a $970,000 Labor Education Alignment Program (LEAP) grant, Roane State will create a two-year associate degree in mechatronics. The program will be launched in fall 2015. cation and training. Her role makes it easy for both the patient and employer to navigate the occupational health system and it is her priority to stay up to date on the regulations associated with Workman’s Compensation, the Tennessee Drug Free Workplace program and DOT clearance. McNeeley Family Physicians works with both companies and individuals to provide drug screening services (including on site testing) and physi- cal exams as may be necessary for employment/ occupational purposes. Samantha enjoys being an ambassador for the Anderson County Chamber because of the opportunities to meet new people and form relationships with new and current members. Our shining moment was unveiling our new logo followed by update of our website, new business cards and a new sign, inside and outside. Again, we created new business partners, gained new members and maintained an 85% retention rate. How did we accomplish all the actvities listed below you ask? An oustanding staff, an engaging Board of Directors and Council members and wonderful member volunteers. We are so very thankful and appreciative of our members that invest in the Chamber and allow us to fulfill our mission and accomplish our objectives throughout the year. Partner with local non-profits to collect food and school supplies Leadership Anderson County, a 10 month program, from May to Graduation, celebrated its 25th year. Youth Leadership Anderson County, a 7 month program presented in partnership with the Anderson County School administrators, enrolls students from Anderson County and Clinton High Schools. “Todd Oliver and Friends” presented at the historical Ritz Theater. Government Relations Six County Economic Development Legislative Agenda coordinated and presented to area senators and local representatives. Counties participating: Anderson, Campbell, Claiborne, Morgan, Scott, and Union. Page 4 The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce February 2015 Presidential Visit Pellissippi State Community College, Knoxville and Techmer PM, Clinton, in Anderson County was honored with a visit from President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden on Friday, January 9. During the stop at Pellissippi State Community College, President Obama announced his plan to fund America’s Promise for two years free community college for those willing to work for it, patterned after Governor Bill Haslam’s Tennessee Promise. During his visit at Techmer PM, the president announced that the University of Tennessee will lead the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation, or IACMI, a venture that includes a $70 million commitment from the U.S. Department of Energy. IACMI will be one of five federally designated innovation hubs focused on advanced manufacturing. Roane State Community College will use a nearly $1 million state grant to expand its mechatronics program and to pilot offering the program’s first year as dual credit courses for high school students. The mechatronics program trains students to become technicians who operate, maintain and repair high-tech automated manufacturing systems. Roane State offers a one-year certificate in mechatronics.
