Dedicated to
Dear friends,
Welcome to the 2012 Christ the King Auction. Your participation this evening
will make a big difference for the children of our school and for all who are involved
in our Catholic education outreach.
On a personal note I am excited about participating in my first auction. Now that
I have been at the parish for almost eight months, I have a much greater appreciation
of the interest and support that our school receives from throughout the parish and
community.
As you look over the items in the silent auction I hope you will find two or three
indispensable things that you just can’t do without!! In the live auction you will be
presented with valuable products that I hope you will find to be desirable. There’s even
an item available that has something to do with the pastor cooking a meal. Have a
great time, and thanks you for your support.
In the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
Fr. Gregory J. Lockwood

Priceless
Hola,
Dear Familia and Amigos of Christ the King School,
We’re having a Fiesta! Although, unfortunately I am not able to be with you tonight, I want to take this
opportunity to welcome you and thank you for coming out to support our escuela, Christ the King.
The school’s annual auction has historically been CPTO’s biggest fundraising event. We could not pull off a
fundraiser of this size without the tremendous effort and support of our parents, parishioners and friends of
Christ the King. As we enter into our thirteenth year of the auction, CPTO continues to be quite successful in
their fundraising efforts. Due to your wonderful support, Christ the King ‘s Catholic Parent-Teacher
Organization has been able to provide funds for instructional support and classroom supplies which directly
have impacted the learning of the children of Christ the King.
A portion of the proceeds from this year’s auction will go to the general fund that supports the school budget.
Without you and other generous families and friends, Christ the King School would not be able to fund many
programs and activities for the students. I invite you to browse the silent auction displays and participate in our
lively and exciting oral auction to find treasures untold. I also encourage you to enjoy the wonderful food
provided by Dos De Oros.
THE END
Our goal is to continue the success that we have been so blessed to achieve. With your support we will be
able to maintain the high standards of excellence that CTK has been able to provide our students while also
continuing to raise the bar. Our amazing achievements are due, in large part, to our remarkable parents,
alumni and our exceptional faculty. Your enthusiasm and commitment to our school and to student learning is
unmatched.
Christ the King is truly a community that is dedicated to the continued excellence of our school. By your
support and generosity you allow us to grow and continue to be successful.
A Special Thanks to Our Suppliers:

Once again, I thank you for all your passion, hard work and contributions. Please help us make this year’s
auction even more successful than last year’s. We cannot achieve our goals without your support.

TAX INFORMATION FOR PATRONS OF THE
CHRIST THE KING PARISH SCHOOL AUCTION
Raffle Drawing
50/50
Federal tax legislation contains substantiation and disclosure requirements that affect all
charitable organizations, which are exempt under Section 501 © (3) of the IRS Code. The two
areas which require documentation are substantiation of contributions in excess of $250 and the
disclosure of contributions in excess of $75 for which the donor receives a quid pro quo in the
form of goods or services from the charity.
Quid Pro Disclosure Statement
The ticket price for the Christ the King Auction is believed to be a reasonable estimate of the fair
market value of the food, complimentary beverages and entertainment services.
Persons who pay more for an item than the stated fair market value will be considered to have
made a donation to Christ the King equal to the difference of those two amounts. If the auction
item consisted solely of tangible religious beliefs, it is regarded for tax purposes to have no fair
market value and the entire purchase amount will therefore be considered a charitable donation.
All cash gifts to Christ the King School qualify as charitable contributions as long as the donor
receives no direct benefit in return. If the amount of the cash donation or the donated auction
item is more than $250, the donor is required to have a written acknowledgment as substantiation
for the contribution. Upon request, Christ the King School will provide such substantiation,
which will contain the cash amount contributed or the identity of the item, but not its fair market
value.
Patrons of the auction are advised to consult their professional tax advisor for specific
information regarding the proper deductibility of their financial support of the auction.
Good Luck!!!
Disclaimer
Every item about which all reasonable information was available at press closing is included

appreciated.

Dear Friends,
Christ the King community was deeply saddened at the loss of Cristina Furey. In her memory, an
endowment was set up so that the parish might offer some limited financial support to families who
might need some assistance to send their children to our school.
An endowment fund is set up with a larger amount of cash or other assets. The fund provides
revenue for charitable distribution from the return on investments earned. In the Kansas City – St.
Joseph Diocese all educational endowments are managed on the diocesan level. The formula for a
return is roughly 5% based on a two year history of the market and additions to the endowment. So
if a parish has a $50,000 endowment it will develop a return of around $2,500 depending somewhat
on the ups and downs of the stock market over the last two years. The more income deposited into
the endowment the greater the distribution.
The Cristina Furey Endowment receives donations throughout the year, but a large portion of
donations comes from the Fund-A-Need at our annual Christ the King Auction. The parish takes
some of the money from the night of auction and the annual disbursement and assists families in our
community with registration fees. The rest of the money from auction night is reinvested in the
endowment fund.
50 / 50 Raffle Drawing will take place during Live Auction!
You Can Purchase Raffle Tickets Up Until 8:00 PM.
As more money is donated to the Cristina Furey Endowment, the interest the parish receives will
be used to provide financial assistance to a larger number of school families with financial challenges.
Thank you for your continuing generosity.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for Us,
Fr. Gregory J. Lockwood

Life Changing Education Foundation Fund
As you are well aware we have ongoing issues with the very foundation on which CTK is built. There
are infrastructure issues such as, boilers, air conditioning, re-paving lots, the need for upgraded
playground areas and expansion of facilities. These are needed not only to grow CTK but just to keep
our doors open to provide Life Changing Education to students of all ages.
We also need to expand the educational opportunities for your children, our students. These include
such items as a new risograph, upgraded computers, classroom necessities, teacher supplies, books
etc.
And because of this we established the Life Changing Education Foundation Fund. This fund allows
us to address current and ongoing needs into the future.
There are 6 levels of participation:
Section closes promptly at 8:00 p.m.

will be many years here at CTK, you will move up in levels and as you move up, we think it is
important that we recognize your participation, be that as an individual, family or company.
So far we have raised $14,900 in one year. This is truly amazing!! I am so proud of our supporters
and everything you do for our children and our teachers.
Once again thank you for coming tonight and I thank you in advance for what I know will be your
generous participation in strengthening and building a strong CTK Foundation for Life Changing
Education.
