1. On the Home screen of your course, you will see a section (widget) titled News.

If you want to personalize the News Item, you can use "Replacement Strings."
You use
these strings when you would like to personalize messages, instructions, or other
information for students.
To use this feature of D2L, simply put the replacement string in the place of the
information you are replacing. For example, if you wanted to personally address each
student by first name, you would use this string {FirstName} at the location in the
message where you want their first name to appear.

6. Availability options allow the teacher to manage Start and End Date settings. These
settings will automatically add and/or delete a news items from the news feed based on
the conditions set.

7. Attachments can be included in the News Item in the form of a file and/or sound
recording. Files can be uploaded from your computer or course offering files.

8. Release Conditions can also be set that would determine when a news item will
become visible. Release Conditions can be attached that are already created or the
user can create and attach a new release condition.

9. Click Publish to release the News Item to users.
Or, click Save as Draft if you need to continue editing. Students will not be able to see
