President’s Message
Thank you to everyone that attended and contributed to the
success of our 2015 Annual Dinner! Our committee worked
very hard to make it a success: Committee chair, Lori Schutt
and Cheryl Alopogianis, Connie Krueger, Patricia Mierisch,
and Justyna Sutyniec.
It was a great event celebrating the 35th anniversary of our
Melissa Hernandez
Chamber! Where does the time go?
What else is happening? Many ask, why does the chamber fund raise?
The chamber offers programming and marketing opportunities for our business
members all year long. Our efforts and all of our fundraising is 100% given
back to the membership in programs and services. Our communities need
strong commerce to survive and a chamber does what it can to contribute to
that effort every day.
That being said, the businesses within the NKCC are truly amazing and your
sponsorship at every level helps get your company name out
there in more ways than you could ever imagine!

Chair’s Message
I can’t believe that 2015
will be coming to a close soon.
It has been a great year for
the Chamber and we had a lot
of fun celebrating our 35th
year anniversary. This year we
introduced the Northern
Kane Fest on the Fox to
celebrate 35 years. In spite of
the rain, the event was a huge
Lori Schutt
success and we are looking at
doing this again in 2016! Our Annual Awards
Dinner this year was our 35th Anniversary Gala.
Congratulations to our winners and thank you to the
committee for a great evening.
We are not done yet! In November, we will be
hosting our Community Service Award Dinner with
our five Villages. The villages select an individual
who goes above and beyond within their community
to receive special recognition. And don’t forget the
Annual Holiday Lunch at the Anvil Club coming
up in December. Register early for this event so
you don’t miss out!
As 2015 comes to a close and we start looking at
2016, remember all the advertising opportunities
that are available to you as a chamber member. By
sponsoring events and donating raffle items, you
get exposure for your business through email blasts
and on social media. Make sure you are taking
advantage of your membership and all the benefits
the chamber has to offer you. Do you need a
refresher on the Chamber? Attend our bi-monthly
membership lunch, or contact the Chamber to
meet with one of our Ambassadors.
I look forward to seeing you at our year end
events and hope you all have a wonderful
Holiday Season!

The Northern Kane County Chamber

Earlier this year the
Dundee Township Young
Professionals Network was
launched and it has been
successfully growing ever
since.
It all began after Curt
McReynolds, president and
CEO of the Boys and Girls
Curt McReynolds
Club of Dundee Township,
heard about the Elgin Young Professionals Network
and thought the concept was a great idea.
“Mostly, the thought had come from my own
personal experiences with my involvement with the
nonprofit boards I serve on and my involvement
with the Dundee Township Rotary Club,” said
McReynolds. “I often find myself as one of the
younger participants in the group and the lack of
younger professionals that are recruited or even
participate in these groups.”

McReynolds is a board member of the Northern
Kane County Chamber of Commerce and the
immediate past president of the Dundee Township
Rotary Club.
He contacted Melissa Hernandez to inquire if the
group would be a good fit through the Chamber and
as McReynolds noted “she was all for it”.
The group is open to men and women from ages
21 to 40 within Dundee Township. They meet the
last Wednesday of every month at 6 to 8 p.m..
Meeting locations are rotated but always held at a
Northern Kane County Chamber of Commerce
member restaurant.
According to McReynolds, “We have 34 members
and are growing. There is no separate membership
fee at this time, but we will examine a fee structure
next year, if needed.”
Currently each member donates $10 to each
monthly meeting and that pool of money will be
distributed to local charities at the end of the year.
