I
t’s a Mardi Gras theme for this year’s Annual Bowling Event
that will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 starting at 6:30 pm at
Liberty Lanes in Carpentersville.
I hope you have signed up to be part of this popular Chamber
event. It’s a great way to get out with friends, co-workers or family
for a fun night away from the stresses of daily life!

appy new year to all
of our members! It’s been a
rough winter and we are all
sure ready for Spring!
I am pleased to be your
new Chairman and look
forward to a great and
productive year for our
Tom Losch
Chamber.
We had our annual board retreat last month. As
a result, we are exploring ways to add value to the
NKCC membership. One of those benefits is to
utilize technology, such as text alerts for events.
Another idea is to host seminars with
professionals from various fields of expertise to
assist members with different areas to improve
their business.
Last year our members fully participated in
our membership and general meetings, a host of
business after hours, and ribbon cutting events.
We encourage you to attend any of these
events which will give you the opportunity to
meet other chamber members and business
owners for us all to help each other grow and
shop local!

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee has been very
busy over the last couple years with growing our
existing events and introducing new ones. The
Membership Committee works as the Chamber’s
Marketing team. We think of new ways to bring in
new members and help you get the most out of
your membership benefits. Many of you have
attended a Membership Orientation. This event
started out being held quarterly and due to the high
turnout of this event, we started offering them bimonthly. This was so that our new members and
potential members were able to learn about the
chamber much sooner.
Last year, we implemented our “Rise and
Shine” events with the 5 villages we represent.
Our goal is to strengthen the relationships between
our villages and our business
community. All 5 villages
hosted an early morning
meet and greet and informed
us about what was
happening in each of our

communities. We have had
many village officials at these events and a very
high turnout of attendees. We will be continuing
these again this year on a bi-monthly basis. The
first one will be held on Friday, February 28th at
the Village of West Dundee, so please join us
from 8:30-9:30am. Please keep an eye on the
Chamber Calendar of Events for upcoming “Rise
and Shine” dates as well. Have a great 2014!

hunt, kids’ activities followed by a

The 4th annual Community Days Festival will
kick-off on Thurs., May 29 from 5-10pm; Fri., May 30

June 1 from noon-6pm. This year’s festival offers
carnival rides, food vendors, live music, petting zoo,
Magic Shows, story time, children’s crafts and activities
for the whole family. A new addition this year on
Saturday and Sunday from 5-10:30pm will be a
designated parking area and free shuttle services

Longmeadow Parkway Bridge Meeting
The response was strong as over 60 people attended the
informational Longmeadow Parkway Bridge Corridor meeting at
the chamber office on Friday, February 21, 2014. The Corridor
extends from Rte. 62 to Huntley Road and will affect the quality of
life in the entire region. The program was presented by Tom Rickert,
Assistant Director of Transportation, KDOT.
