Mt Angel Oktoberfest
Mt Angel, Oregon
The December record-breaking winter snow storm stranded many
Portland travelers, including Geoff Levear (below). Geoff, and his
wife Joyce, were trying to get to Arizona but all travel came to a
halt. So what does a good RCAC club member do? - break out the
accordion, sit on a bench in the snow and play music - naturally.
Look who I found entertaining diners at the Nonna Emilia
Ristorante Italiano in Aloha in December, Joe Szabo (pictured above).
In addition to Christmas and holiday songs, Joe sung and played
“Happy Birthday” at our table as it was my wife’s birthday (I am not
going to divulge her age for fear of retribution). - Steve Knapke
Rose City Accordion Club Accordion Scholarship
Our club is accepting applications for a $250.00 Student Accordion Scholarship. This
scholarship is being funded by the proceeds from the raffle of a wood-carved accordion
created by one of our members, Mr. Jim Feaster of Anchorage, Alaska. The scholarship
is open to any accordion student 18 years of age and younger residing in Oregon,
Washington or California. Applicants must currently be taking instruction from a
recognized accordion instructor. Application deadline is 01 March 2009.
Applicants will be judged on accomplishments to date, potential for future progress
and enthusiasm for playing the accordion. Teacher recommendation will also play
prominently in the selection process.
The application form is located on the following page and can also be
found/downloaded from our WEB Site: http://www.rosecityaccordionclub.org/
