They had a very good defensive effort on Manny Ubilla.” “It was a combination of us coming out flat and a credit to the Mount’s defense. Last season, Green won his 250th career NEC game is the alltime leader in league wins, nearly double that of second place Ron Ganulin, who won 129 games at St. Francis (NY) from 199105. He is also the NEC’s all-time leader with 26 tournament victories. The most tenured coach in the state of New Jersey, Green is also FDU’s all-time leader in wins and games coached, and has seven 20+ win campaigns under his belt. The Knights have appeared in nine NEC Championship games and have reached the NEC semifinals in 16-of-24 seasons. The 2004-05 Metropolitan Basketball Writer’s Association Coach of the Year, Green is also a two-time NEC Coach of the Year, a two-time New Jersey Sports Writers Coach of the Year and a three-time New Jersey Coaches Association Coach of the Year award recipient. NEC Tournament Experience The only three league coaches who have NEC championships under their belts are CCSU’s Howie Dickenman, Fairleigh Dickinson’s Tom Green and Monmouth’s Dave Calloway. Green’s Knights were victorious in 1985, 1988, 1998 and 2005, while Dickenman’s Blue Devils won the title in 2000, 2002 and 2007. Calloway took the Hawks all the way in 2001, 2004 and 2006. Green was a three-year letterwinner and two-year starter as SU’s point guard. As a senior, he captained Syracuse to a 19-6 mark and a bid to the NIT. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education and earned his master’s degree in education four years later. After coaching as an assistant at Drew for a year, he returned to Syracuse to serve as Roy Danforth’s assistant coach. In four seasons with the Orange, Green was a major part of four NCAA Tournament teams. The highlight of his stay as a coach at Syracuse was the 1974-75 season, when the Orange finished 23-9 and advanced to the final four in San Diego, marking the first time in the history of Syraucse basketball that the team advanced beyond the tournament’s second round. Coaches Reunion Syracuse University Head Coach Jim Boeheim and Fairleigh Dickinson University Head Coach Tom Green both served on the Syracuse coaching staff under Roy Danforth in the 1970s. All in the Family Sophomore Ron Brown II is the son of Associate Head Coach Ron Brown, and is in his first season playing with the Knights. He is the second coach’s son to play for the Knights in the past five years, as Brad Green played for the Knights in 2000 and 2005. Dome-Friendly Senior guard Bernell Murray is the only player remaining from the Knights’ 2004-05 team that went to the NCAA Tournament. The Knights drew top-seeded and topranked Illinois in the RCA Dome as a No. 16 seed and went into the locker room down only one at the half. Knights vs. Mt.
