Palmer House hotel’s Art Deco lobby, grand ballrooms, guestrooms and
vintage artifacts showcased throughout the famed property. These sites

Elf is the hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan who mistakenly crawls
into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. Buddy is
raised unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and
poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s
permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his
birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality
that his father is on the naughty list and his step-brother doesn’t even
believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and
help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
This modern day Christmas classic is sure to make everyone embrace
their inner Elf. The New York Times says that Elf is “splashy, peppy,
sugar-sprinkled holiday entertainment;” USA Today calls Elf “endearingly
goofy!”; Variety proclaims, “Elf is happy enough for families, savvy
enough for city kids and plenty smart for adults!”

28. La Traviata at the Lyric Opera House
7:30 p.m. Performance Time
Price per person: $100
Note: In Italian with projected English texts
Violetta is Paris’s most desirable courtesan. She’s sought after by
society’s most important men, wealthy in her own right, and perfectly
content with her hedonistic, carefree existence—until she meets Alfredo
Germont.
Finally, here is someone who truly loves her! Violetta sees the chance to
trade her life of empty pleasures for real joy, but there’s no happy ending
here. Alfredo’s father insists that Violetta give up Alfredo to save the
family name. And so she does, pushing away the only man she’s ever
loved. Will they ever be together again? Yes, but by then it’s much, much
too late.
A new production from Arin Arbus, named by The New York Times as
“the most gifted new director to emerge this year.”
(Theater tickets must be picked up at the Palmer House tour desk.
Transportation to the Lyric Opera House is not included.)

30. Chicago Sculpture Walking Tour (English)
31. Chicago Sculpture Walking Tour (French)
9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Price per person $35
Take in Chicago’s vast array of beautiful public art on display 365 days a
year. Artists and communities around the world continue the tradition of
erecting monuments to commemorate events and people of importance.
Chicago is no exception. Monuments were erected in the city before the
city’s incorporation in 1837, a tradition that continues to the present day.
The installation of the Chicago Picasso inspired a cultural renaissance,
which evoked a public interest in private and public investment in public
art. Chicago has become a “sculpture gallery” displaying works by many
world-renowned artists. The city’s collection of outdoor sculpture is as
distinguished as its world-class architecture. However, public art in
Chicago far exceeds sculptures installed in the downtown area.
Encompassing all areas of the visual arts, it is exhibited in municipal
buildings and neighborhoods citywide. Discover the changing relationships between architecture and sculpture and learn how artists and
architects collaborate in creating successful public art.

43. ComedySportz
8:00 p.m. Performance Time
Price per person $30
Location: The ComedySportz Theatre, 929 W. Belmont Ave.
ComedySportz is the longest running short-form improv show in
Chicago. Now in its 24th year! It’s not stand-up comedy about sports...
it’s improv comedy played as a sport! ComedySportz is a completely improvised show in which a red and blue
team battle for your laughter. A referee hosts each show and comes to
the audience to shout out suggestions and ideas that drive the show!
When the show starts, they calibrate their Applause-o-meter and award
points to the team that receives the loudest laughs and cheers! At the
end of the first half, the team that is behind has to play the most difficult
ComedySportz game in the playbook—“5 Thingz”.
After a brief intermission, the two teams are back to make you laugh
even harder! Audience interaction now becomes extra fun as it’s your
turn to get on stage! Our improvisers always make the volunteer look
like a rock star! Audience Volunteers walk away with a great memory
and are rewarded with a ComedySportz Ref Treat. After all of the games
have been played, listen for Mr. Voice to announce the winner! Is it the
Downtown Chicago Bosses in blue or is it the visiting team in red? Your
laughter and cheers determine the winner! Because all of your
suggestions are different every night and there are hundreds of games
in the ComedySportz playbook, the show is never the same twice! Want
to see something funny? Shout out your idea!
(Theater tickets must be picked up at the Palmer House tour desk.
Transportation to the theater is not included.)

44. Chicago Bulls vs. New Orleans Pelicans
7:00 p.m. Game Time
Price per person: $80
Make your way to the house that Michael Jordan built. The United
Center is a state of the art sports facility with all the amenities.
Thousands flock to the city’s West Side for each Bulls home game but
it isn’t just about watching basketball—it’s about experiencing the joy of
the game. Past legends like Michael Jordan & Magic Johnson have
battled here and future legends entertain every night.
The Bulls made a statement in 2011 by clinching the top seed in the East.
Although they fell short to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference
Finals, they showed that they will be a contender for years to come. Just
like any off-season, it is time for teams to reflect on the previous season
and find areas to improve. The good thing for Chicago is there isn’t much
that needs to be done. For the most part the Bulls have a young core of
players who are still getting better with each game.
Regardless of the season’s record or the night’s final score, fans can
rest assured that they will leave with a smile on their face.
(Bulls tickets must be picked up at the Palmer House tour Desk. Transportation to the United Center is not included.)
