May - St. Alphonsus
St Alphonsus Parish May 17, 2015 Ascension of the Lord Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace Response to the Earthquake in Nepal The earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25th had terrible repercussions, killing over 7,000 people and injuring more than 14,000. An estimated 3 million people are in need of shelter and food. Development and Peace is coming to the aid of the earthquake’s victims through our Caritas partners in Nepal. The Canadian government will match, dollar for dollar, all of the donations made by Canadians to support the victims of the earthquake in Nepal until May 25, 2015. Donations made through the parish will not arrive in time for the Federal government match-up program, so we encourage you to donate to this project on-line. To donate and receive a tax receipt online, please go to https://www.devp.org/en Extraordinary Ministers of Communion either for Mass or to the Sick, are invited and encouraged to attend a time of sharing and reflection on Wednesday, May 20th from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm in the parish hall. The agenda for this time includes a short faith teaching by our new Deacon Paul Blair, time to share your experience in the ministry, logistical discussion of the ministry, and fellowship time over a light lunch. There is no cost to this time together but if you wish to bring a sweet treat to share you are most welcome. This is a wonderful opportunity to grow together in knowledge of our faith and get to know each other more as brothers and sisters who share in this important ministry. My regrets to those who are unable to meet during daytime hours. I hope to have a time together in the evening soon. - Please RSVP by leaving a phone message or by email no later than Monday, May 18th.
