About The Designer
Marija is a creative individual who takes pride in her work. She has an undergraduate
degree in Cultural Anthropology from The University of Texas at Austin where she quickly
took an interest in human behavior within spaces and the affects that each space has on
the human mind and movement. Always having a passion for architecture and design, she
then proceeded to Toronto where she attained a postgraduate degree in Architectural
Interior Design. Linking her knowledge of human behavior and interior design gives her a
better understanding in creating beautiful, functional and unique spaces.
Throughout her work, she has acquired skills that allow her to look past singular parts of a
composition bringing her attention to the overall sum of the project, subsequently creating
flow and synergy. She has learned to step away from compartmentalization and, in turn
create spaces that are both highly fashionable and seamlessly functional. Her passion and
knowledge of interior design allow her to create individually tailored environments for
each client. Every person is different, why should any design be the same? Her ultimate
goal is to find aesthetically endowed, innovative solutions for each unique interior space
with focus on life, work and play.
Philosophy
I’m often asked what my job means to me... “To me, creativity, art and
design are not considered a job they are considered a way of life.
Design reaches far beyond just making things look “pretty.” It’s about
harmonizing the principles and elements of design into a conceptual
composition to create a cohesive outcome. It’s about listening to your
client and creating a layout that is so functionally sound that the mind
and body move freely through the space without thought. It’s about
determining the use of a space in order to focus design on the
psychological stimulants, in order to entice a positive reaction from the
occupants. And at the end of the day it’s really about a designer’s love
for their work.”
